How do i change the color of the desktop behind the wallpaper in the windows aero theme? I've done it before so i know it can be done it's just that i can't remember.

When I turn the computer on (it's an HP pavillion DV2000 laptop) it first shows the black screen with the little bar that says MICROSOFT CORPORATION near the bottom of the screen. Then it transitions to the Vista screen that says WELCOME , then the message changes to PREPARING YOUR DESKTOP. These phases take about as long as usual, and the hard drive LED shows a lot of hard drive activity. Finally the Vista logon screen is displayed. I type in my password and the screen changes to my usual desktop color but there is nothing displayed except the mouse pointer.
There is nothing to click, nothing to do. Ctrl+Alt+Del gives the usual menu for LOGOFF, Task Manager, etc. Task Manager shows about 20 processes and the CPU is 96% idle. It shows many services - some of them stopped. Starting in SAFE mode ends up in the same situation. I can't start from a Vista CD because I never got one with this machine - I have only the recovery partition for reloading the original software. So I can't get to recovery console...............
I have a Hp Pavillion computer with windows vista home premium and somehow I could not get Windows Aero to work. When I first had this computer, I had Windows Aero running with all the translucent effects.So I do know that my computer is compliant with windows aero but its somehow disabled. My computer automatically changed to windows vista basic.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI ran the patcher that came with this Vista theme SoulGlass by ~bubito on deviantART and now some windows have Aero and others have what looks like a messed up windows classic theme. I tried using vista glazz to patch it back. I tried restarting multiple times. I tried switching to classic theme and back. Nothing works. I have Vista Ultimate 64. Here's a screenshot.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.
everyone knows vista should have the aero theme, right? i don't. maybe it is the home basic os? i also saw on the taskbar properties that it says "show windows preview" and i have this box checked ...

View 6 Replies View RelatedA long time ago I installed a Mac theme because I grew so weary of the Vista theme. But, when I uninstalled it, it never seemed to do so correctly (i.e., logon screen still has a mac background). I didn't care so much because it was only the logonscreen. BUT. Recently I was surfing the internet and found out (YEAH I hear everything first!! xD) that Vista Home Premium slows down your computer. So, I switched to Vista Basic. But I grew tired of that too and wanted to switch back. BUT THERE IS NO AERO THEME! THERE ARE ONLY 3 VISTA BASICS! 2 of them are mac themes and then there is the original Vista Basic theme.
I found the Aero theme in the /windows on the HDD and when I click it, the Vista Basic theme chooser doesn't show up, but Windows Vista Premium. This is all very strange. OH, I almost forgot. The files that are in the themes folder are: MAC OS X 10.5, VistaOSX Theme, Windows Classis and Aero. Also there are folders named: Aero, leo4, VistaOSX9. I tried moving the files and folders that were in VistaOSX folder to the desktop and then copying the ones from Aero to there, but then the VIstaOSX theme disappeared (or one of the Basics and VIstaOSX turned into the new basic cuz I put the files in there).
In windows mail suddenly I can't change the fonts color. It's always black. Also when I received a message where some word are in red or other color. Have a solution?

I really want to be able to have an SWF file as a wallpaper in vista (I got a killer idea) but I cant get it to work. Theres many programs to do it, but they are all for XP and before. A way I could do it would be to put it in html, but then that only works for XP and before too.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I used to change my wallpaper I had 5 options to fit the image to the screen, cant remember them exactly but they were something like; Stretch to screen, fit horizontal, fit vertical, centered, and tiled. Why is it now that I only have; Centered, Tiled and stretch to screen?
Was this an update because this is really annoying!? It was much easier to fit the wallpaper to screen without stretching it when I could fit horizontal and vertical? Why can I not do this now?
I am having trouble applying themes in Vista. I have two user accounts set up. I am using third party software to do it (Desktop Architect). I can use Desktop Architect just fine to apply the theme on the main user's desktop. However, when I try to use Desktop Architect to apply the theme on the other user's desktop, every thing in the theme shows up fine (icons) but the desktop background picture doesn't show up. It's just black. I found out that I can fix this by right clicking on the desktop, selecting Personalize, then Themes and then select My Current Theme and clicking on apply. After that, the picture shows up just fine. However, I want to use Desktop Architect alone to change the theme on both users desktops. I don't know why it works fine for one but not the other.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to put one of my own pictures, centered as my desktop wallpaper. I can get the picture there ok, but if I try to set it as centered, all I get is the center of the picture as the wallpaper. If I try to tile the picture I get the top left hand corner of the picture as the wallpaper. It seems to be tiling or centering the screen on my picture, instead of tiling or centering my picture on the screen! Has anyone else come across this problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to change the way a wallpaper is displayed on the desktop (i.e. Stretch, Tile, Centred) but I can't. The wallpaper is always displayed stretched out and I can't change it to be tiled or centred.
The way I'm doing this (to no avail) is obviously to right-click the desktop, then choose "Personalize", then click on "Desktop Background", then click one of the three radio buttons at the bottom (in this case, either of the two on the right), then click "OK".
1. Windows Vista Home Premium wanted me to update so I did.
2. Update changed my desktop giving me new icons and a new wallpaper. But my files in My Pictures and My Documents were missing.
3. I used the Start Search to locate them and cut-pasted them into the My Pictures and My Documents folders in the new interface.
4. I shutdown my computer after I was done using it.
5. I turned on my computer again and Windows reverted back to the older (pre-update) interface.
6. I checked and to my luck the My Pictures and My Documents folders were empty again........

When I right click, Personalize. I don't have a 'Theme' option to click on. I tried looking every where on how to get it back or to change themes another way. This is my last option to fix this. Here is a screen shot on what I am trying to explain.

But the color f0 command change only the cmd windows, that is dos prompt window. By the command , the colsole color changed. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows Vista Ultimate with "Aero" and I'd like to turn off the transparency of the taskbar and perhaps also change its color (currently two shades of gray) without disabling "Aero" and without changing the transparency or color effects of other windows. Is this possible? Are there options within Windows or free 3rd party apps that can do this? I've seen this question posed before but with no satisfactory answer.
I notice that maximizing a window makes the taskbar appear opaque, but then I can't see the desktop. I'd like the taskbar to be opaque all the time. I also notice that using a background that's black at the bottom can make the taskbar appear opaque, but that prevents you from having fun with different backgrounds.
Is there a way to change the color of the signature in Windows Mail (Vista)? Also, how do I change the font size of the signature? My regular font size for mail is 10pt, but the signature comes out at 12pt.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows Mail thru Vista and have tried to change my font size and color on outgoing e-mails to somthing different than the default but everytime I go in to compose an e-mail it keeps going to the default font size and color. I went to TOOLS - OPTIONS - SEND and COMPOSE and have changed them there but that doesn't seem to work.
View 7 Replies View Related1) When changing the background from an image to just a plain color the sidebar does not change, it is still looking as if there is a background image behind it. It will only adapt to the change if you flip it from left to right, and back to left again. Same thing goes for taskbar/start menu bar on the bottom.
2) Sometime I get random re-boots when resuming from standbye or just for the hell of it sometimes.
