This is a gadget that changes the wallpaper randomly. It was posted on the windows live gadget gallery, but now it seems to have disappeared. If anyone has the file and could send it to me.
I just cleared my desktop because it was absolutely cluttered with icons and stuff, but now it's like the Icons are part of the wallpaper, because I can't click on them, can't drag them, and if I drag a different icon over it it's still there underneath the other one.
I really want to be able to have an SWF file as a wallpaper in vista (I got a killer idea) but I cant get it to work. Theres many programs to do it, but they are all for XP and before. A way I could do it would be to put it in html, but then that only works for XP and before too.
When I used to change my wallpaper I had 5 options to fit the image to the screen, cant remember them exactly but they were something like; Stretch to screen, fit horizontal, fit vertical, centered, and tiled. Why is it now that I only have; Centered, Tiled and stretch to screen?
Was this an update because this is really annoying!? It was much easier to fit the wallpaper to screen without stretching it when I could fit horizontal and vertical? Why can I not do this now?
I want to put one of my own pictures, centered as my desktop wallpaper. I can get the picture there ok, but if I try to set it as centered, all I get is the center of the picture as the wallpaper. If I try to tile the picture I get the top left hand corner of the picture as the wallpaper. It seems to be tiling or centering the screen on my picture, instead of tiling or centering my picture on the screen! Has anyone else come across this problem?
I'm trying to change the way a wallpaper is displayed on the desktop (i.e. Stretch, Tile, Centred) but I can't. The wallpaper is always displayed stretched out and I can't change it to be tiled or centred.
The way I'm doing this (to no avail) is obviously to right-click the desktop, then choose "Personalize", then click on "Desktop Background", then click one of the three radio buttons at the bottom (in this case, either of the two on the right), then click "OK".
1. Windows Vista Home Premium wanted me to update so I did. 2. Update changed my desktop giving me new icons and a new wallpaper. But my files in My Pictures and My Documents were missing. 3. I used the Start Search to locate them and cut-pasted them into the My Pictures and My Documents folders in the new interface. 4. I shutdown my computer after I was done using it. 5. I turned on my computer again and Windows reverted back to the older (pre-update) interface. 6. I checked and to my luck the My Pictures and My Documents folders were empty again........

while surfing online i was looking into some language converter tools when my system hanged.. i manually shut down the system by holding the power button.. But since then on starting, my desktop and taskbar have disappeared.. however m able to access everything from task manager..
I looked onto 1 of the treads which had the solution to such a problem and changed the value of shell in the registry to explorer.exe.. However even then my desktop is not appearing on start up .. Only when i start a new process from task manager "explorer.exe", then my desktop appears..
i have scanned the entire internet but still can't find a solution to my problem which started Today. Firstly, I am using Dell e6400 working on Vista Ultimate. Everything started when I installed printer Samsung SCX4016 drivers and rebooted. And after this (censored) reboot everything was gone from my desktop. The other bad thing is that when I try to click on Documents and Drive C: - i see that the explorer window just flashes for a second and then nothing happens. Another bad thing is that I can access the Control Panel but... I can't access user accounts to try and create a new one. I have uploaded a quick video of what's happening on my laptop and I really hope it's possible to save my data.
I'm Sorry I have no Idea where should I post this thread but this seemed like the best place... Lately, I was messing with my TaskManager, And In the Processes Tab, I saw the Dwm.exe (desktop window manager), I Ended it's process and all of a sudden, Everything was gone from my desktop... I Opened it again through the C:/Windows/System32 folder... it worked in the taskmanager, But still, Nothing showed up on my desktop. Everything is working fine, My Taskbar, Programs, and even I can locate my desktop icons through the windows explorer / search bar... But The Problem still exists... I have No Desktop Wallpaper... I have no Icons on my Desktop... My Desktop is just... Black...

IE Favorites has disappeared, then after rebooting my desktop ikons became re-arranged. WHAT'S GOING ON ? I'm running Vista64 w SP1. My desktop folders are re-located to a D drive. The OS is on the C drive. I still have all the "D:<username>Favorites" files that previously appeared in the IE favorites list.
I just installed a zip file called "take ownership" it deposits itself in the registry and allows you to take control of certain files. So, I completely removed most of the gadgets that came installed with the vista sidebar. All but one for some reason the Norton status gadget will not allow me to get rid of it. Is there a way to completely remove this gadget? Also if I completely remove the sidebar will it cause problems for my OS?
I run vista ultimate64 on my laptop and just love it. Sidebar gadgets monitor a few things, network cpu useage, mem useage....what I am looking for is a sidebar gadget that monitors cpu temd (HD temp would be bonus points)
is turning windows defender on or off something i should try to do to resolve my problem with adobe flash? i recently got an hp with 64-bit vista and i can't get my puzzle gadget to run on my igoogle page or view Internet or second life. these are some of the very things i had in mind when i went shopping for a new computer! my old hp somewhat handled all of these tasks until just recently without a great graphics card and low ram. i thought a peppy computer would get me past the annoying wait time for video to load and stall-out on sl. i have downloaded and installed flash, but the puzzle application won't come up. instead, i just get a link to install yet again.
since few days i have been seeing a straight line visible near the gadget column.. and whn i open explorer or internet explorer, tht line is visible, does anyone have solution to gt rid of the line? attaching a picturee...
I've placed the weather gadget on the sidebar and set it for my area, however the temperatures and forecasts are nothing like the those from the weather bureau or other weather sites.
The vista weather gadget shows a bright sun and says it's clear. I walk outside and it's completely overcast. My location is set to South El Monte CA ( 91733 ). It's about 4:00 pm ( local time ) 2/22/09.
I am having trouble with the Logitech gadgets for the Windows sidebar. I have ensured that the software for my Wireless Wave Logitech keyboard/mouse is up to date and also that Windows is up to date and I have run McAfee anti virus scans and Superantispyware and nothing untoward has been found. I have been trying to download and install the Caps lock gadget which used to work but no longer does. I have tried reinstalling it and rebooting several times but to no avail. I got in touch with Logitech who advised me to update SetPoint which I did , still didn't work so they very kindly sent me this new wireless keyboard/ mouse combo but the gadget in the sidebar still doesn't work. I also tried the battery monitor gadget and that doesn't work either.
I use the cpu-meter gadget in my sidebar and find it useful. Sometimes my cpu seems to be very busy even when I am doing very little. How do I find what the cpu is doing ?
