How do I install a gadget. I found a gadget on igoogle. Clicked "Add it". A check mark appeared in to box. Then no further instructions. It's not in the gadget gallery. Not in download. What do I do now?
View 6 Repliesi have just created a new sidebar gadget and i am having problems when trying to install it. If i save it off as a .zip and then change extension to .gadget it looks okay but then when i click on it and click install it does nothing. But if i put the folder into SERPROFILE%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows SidebarGadgets it will show in my gadgets and i can use it, any ideas why when i put it to a .gadget file it wont install?

So, I completely removed most of the gadgets that came installed with the vista sidebar. All but one for some reason the Norton status gadget will not allow me to get rid of it. Is there a way to completely remove this gadget? Also if I completely remove the sidebar will it cause problems for my OS?

I have ensured that the software for my Wireless Wave Logitech keyboard/mouse is up to date and also that Windows is up to date and I have run McAfee anti virus scans and Superantispyware and nothing untoward has been found. I have been trying to download and install the Caps lock gadget which used to work but no longer does. I have tried reinstalling it and rebooting several times but to no avail. I got in touch with Logitech who advised me to update SetPoint which I did , still didn't work so they very kindly sent me this new wireless keyboard/ mouse combo but the gadget in the sidebar still doesn't work. I also tried the battery monitor gadget and that doesn't work either.

a) Windows Update- Windows update is failing to load any new updates available, after selecting "check for updates" i am responded with an immediate error; it states. Windows could not search for new updates. Error(s) found: Code 80040154. Get help I have googled my error code but not many responses. So thats my first concern
b)Live Messenger 8.1- Secondly, i was shocked to find my msn wasn't working (works on web based version, so cant be wrong login details) first the typing was slow then i get the error code: 800401f3 denying me login. I searched up the code and found i had to type up some things in cmd...........
I decided to try out the sidebar Contacts gadget but can't figure out how to add contacts entries directly into the gadget. Do you have to add contacts in the Vista Contacts "folder" or can you add them in the gadget? Does anyone know if the widely publicized security vulnerability of the Contacts gadget has been fixed?

I re-associated jpegs with the Photo Gallery, but whereas previously a double click on a jpg would open that image on its own in Photo Gallery, now it opens up the whole Gallery with 100's of thumbs.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just recently did a format and reinstall of Vista 64 Ultimate and i've been having a problem with windows photo gallery. If theres a bunch of new pictures on my desktop and i go to click on one it will take around 30secs to load and and when it loads it will just freeze until it loads the others. I've never had this problem before and it only seems to happen on my desktop. If i view a new image on my other hard drives they load instantly, it just seems to happen on my windows drive. Anyone know what causes this to happen?. EDIT: I tried windows live photo gallery and that works fine, but i would like to have the original working as well.

At first, I figured it was just a flaw somewhere adn I didn't worry too much about it because everything else looked fine. Just the photo gallery was messed up. Then, I replaced my geforce 7600 with a newer 8800 gts and reinstalled my OSs fresh for my annual clean up and same thing. Photo Gallery displays goofy colors. I'll provide an attachment for details. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been using Windows XP for years. Recently I installed Windows Vista Ultimate. Before Vista there was a great product called Windows Pictures and Fax Viewer which also has a feature to change Picture layout (rotate left/right). The nice thing about it was that while changing the layout it did not change the file's Modified Date.
Now, in Vista's Photo Gallery, this feature is missing. I mean, you can still rotate pictures, but it changes the Modified date to todays date. This is not good, as the pictures then are not arranged properly by date/time, and the only way to arrange them is to use Date Taken attribute (which is not standard file attribute and only present in .jpg files).
1. how to setup Photo Gallery that it does not change last Modified Date on changing the picture layout.
2. Alternatively, please advice is it possible to install XP's Picture and Fax viewer on Vista.............
I use Photoshop and Fireworks to create and modify web graphics, I cannot view PSD images in the photo gallery, I have t load PS to view them. Is there a plug in for Vista to open PSD's or a workaround?
