I have a Hp Pavillion computer with windows vista home premium and somehow I could not get Windows Aero to work. When I first had this computer, I had Windows Aero running with all the translucent effects.So I do know that my computer is compliant with windows aero but its somehow disabled. My computer automatically changed to windows vista basic.

I was wondering if someone could help me. I can't figure out how to make my color scheme stay in any particular setting. IE. I use WMP classic and it (I think) is not compatible with Windows Aero color scheme, so it changes automatically from Aero to Basic, then back to Aero when WMPC is closed.
That is not the problem, my problem is that I would like to just put the scheme back to Window Vista Basic, thus avoiding the need to change back and forth all the time. Everytime I reboot the scheme comes back as Aero.
This seems so simple, just select desired scheme, apply then once I logout or reboot those settings should save.
As you can see, the Icons have like a White or Black thing round them. I think the smoothing is not ok. I also Can`t enable the Aero Scheme, don`t know why. I just turned my Computer off, and when i turned it on again, there was no Wallpaper, the wallpaper was a gray solid color, and the Bar, the one that has the quick launch, etc was all black, it wasn`t on Aero Scheme, the way it was. I tried System Restore, searched for Virus in AVG on Slow Scan, and adjusted it for best appearence in Advanced System Settings

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bit. My Windows Experience is currently 4.0. I have an ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series with up to date drivers. When I first got this laptop, Aero was enabled. Somewhere along the way, it has disappeared from my options. If I go to Personalize->Window Color and Appearance I get the old style Appearance Settings dialog box pops up and I cannot check transparency I cannot run a system restore as it does not go back far enough. I am not running in power saving mode and the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service is running. I'm so frustrated as I have been working on this practically all day.

My video card died, and I had to use an old card with very limited memory. The emergency card did not support Aero. I keep getting a yellow exclamation point on windows start navigation sound I can go in and select it and it works for the time it is selected. but as soon as I reboot the yellow exclamation point comes back how do I fix this can someone help me please it annoying and aggravating to have to turn that on all the time. I even did a system restore back to yesterday thinking I did something to it no go still dose it. nothing else broken all works good sound everything just not this one.

When I start to watch an AVI file in Win Media player it almost immediately pops a message to say that perfromance is slow.... running low on mem for Aero...suggest I go to basic display Why would it do that? I have Win 7, a damn good sys - with 6Gb of mem. I did read that it caused some incompatability with progs - but I using an AVI in MS media player... so surely that should be compatible? I have breakdown of how file was encoded if people interested - but lets keep simple for now... Why would MS media player make Win7 do that?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.
I just installed SP1 on my OEM Windows Vista Home Premium HP A1654n. After completing the installation, Aero is gone and is nolonger listed in the Windows Color and Appearance dialog. It was working perfectly minutes ago..

I tried using vista glazz to patch it back. I tried restarting multiple times. I tried switching to classic theme and back. Nothing works. I have Vista Ultimate 64. Here's a screenshot.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAlthough the built in speakers in my laptop work perfectly - music, dvds, videos, etc. - my vista default sound scheme has stopped working. It was working previously and I am at a loss to understand why it has stopped. I have checked that the speakers are not muted, ensured that the levels are properly set, checked that I have the most up to date driver, etc., etc., etc. None of the sounds work, including the start up, normal alerts and so on. When I go to the sound scheme and test individual sounds they do not play, however, if I open the individual sound files they will sound in media player. I know there is an expert out there somewhere who will know what to do.
View 6 Replies View RelatedPower Scheme-Sleep Mode I use Vista on my Dell PC and have my power settings set to turn off my monitor in 15 minutes and my PC in 20 minutes (sleep mode). When my PC enters the Sleep mode, it only stays in that mode a short time, usually three or so minutes at the maximum, then it activates and my monitor turns on. Is this normal for this power option? I would expect my PC to stay in the Sleep
mode for a longer period of time, at least some of the time.
I am using Vista Home Premium 32bit. I used to have the Windows Aero theme, but one day it disappeared.
If I go to Control Panel>Appearance & Personalisation>Personalisation> Window Color and Appearance, I have Windows Standard and Windows Classic color schemes listed, but Windows Aero has disappeared.
Does anyone know how to use aero in maximised windows? I know you can use Vistaglazz , but I don't like it.Is there some sort of registry hack of some sort?

When I log in to my account user, the computer refreshed and then the whole settings about the appearance changed. I tried to fix it in windows appearance and when I looked in the choices, I can't find Windows Aero and Windows Home Basic. I don't know why but it just disappeared when I logged in. Somewhere along the line Vista Aero stopped working. Now when I click onto appearance settings, the appearance box is black and the color scheme box is blank. I tried downloading service pack 2, updating my drivers and attempting a system restore, but nothing has worked. I think something might be wrong with my graphics settings, because when I right click on the desktop and select graphics properties, I get a intel graphics media box which has the primary device listed as a laptop, and I can't figure out how to change it.
