I am not able to find windows aero theme in under color scheme while i am using the same version of windows in my office and windows aero is there. Pls let me know how can i get windows aero in my home PC

When I first had this computer, I had Windows Aero running with all the translucent effects.So I do know that my computer is compliant with windows aero but its somehow disabled. a problem that I know is being experienced by other Vista users; I'm hoping
there is a workaround. I have an internal 1 TB Hitachi hard drive (not the C drive). This desktop system is only about six months old, and ever since I first acquired it I found that this internal hard drive would go missing after putting Vista into Sleep or Hibernation mode. Restarting the system would always enable Vista to recognize the internal 1 TB hard drive again.
However, about two weeks ago this temporary fix wasn't working anymore -- restarting Vista didn't enable the 1 TB internal drive to be recognized. It's been missing ever since. And yet this drive is working properly according to Device Manager (Including having the latest driver). Doing a Google search has produced a few other threads on the web where Vista users are also experiencing missing hard drives. Supposedly this situation is to be directly addressed by Microsoft with the release of Service Pack 1. Unfortunately, I need access to my internal hard drive now, not weeks from now when Service Pack 1 is finally released.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bit. My Windows Experience is currently 4.0. I have an ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series with up to date drivers. When I first got this laptop, Aero was enabled. Somewhere along the way, it has disappeared from my options. If I go to Personalize->Window Color and Appearance I get the old style Appearance Settings dialog box pops up and I cannot check transparency I cannot run a system restore as it does not go back far enough. I am not running in power saving mode and the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service is running. I'm so frustrated as I have been working on this practically all day.

My video card died, and I had to use an old card with very limited memory. The emergency card did not support Aero. I installed a new ATI card with 512 MB onboard memory (a Radeon HD2600Pro AGP 8X card) which supports Vista. I got the Aero scheme back - transparency, etc., but the icons on the quick
launch bar for 3D viewing of open windows or desktop are gone. Is there a way to get them back?
My problem is my windows would stop animating as if I had the visual effect off. That's all I've noticed so far (although thats all I've been doing). I did some research and been reading about dwm but it doesnt help me at all. I've searched google for this issue for the past 3 days and nothing. I've posted on MS boards and nothing. I've updated my nvidia drivers to the beta and it doesn't do anything.

The Start - Computer - properties - option does not show it under Windows Edition as described in one post. I go to Windows Update and cant find it listed there as installed updates. Pretty sure now that its not installed. go to the download page and it directs me to Windows update for single PC downloads, WU takes over and says I am fully up to date! Advice in other posts says to let WU take care of it and it will download and install SP1.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am adding a new PC with Windows Vista to a home network via ethernet hub consisting of 2 other PC's, one using XP, one using Windows Millennium Edition. Access (sharing) with Vista & XP systems is working perfectly (in both directions). Access from Vista to ME is working. Access from ME to Vista is almost working. From the ME PC I can find the Vista PC in the network.
Public sharing on the Vista PC is is turned on, and Password protected sharing is turned off, but when I attempt to access Vista PC from the Windows Millennium PC, I get the window "ENTER NETWORK PASSWORD". I've tried using Admin & various user passwords from both PC's but all are returned as invalid.
My vista ultimate 64 is keep saying that "the operating system is missing".
I have the original installation dvd and run system recovery. I am stuck because my operating system is NOT LISTED and when I click load drivers I have not clue what to select.
After I click load drivers a small screen poops and tels me : INSERT THE INSTLLATION MEDIA FOR THE DEVICE AND CLICK OK TO SELECT THE DRIVER. A driver for what?for pete sake.
I click that and I got the regular screen where i can see my harddrives, removable disks and so. I can t access drive C because is telling me that is not formated and that I have to format it.
Can I use an Upgrade edition of Windows XP Pro from Vista Home Premium or do. I have to buy full version?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't even have system restore on my computer! I have tried everything that I've read about on the internet. I did the search, I did the windows+R and typed in rstrui.exe but it says that the program doesn't exist. I'm not extremely knowledgeable about computers but have managed to fix nearly all problems I've had with computers in the past on my own but this is killing me. I ran some stupid Registry First Aid program on the computer and suddenly, a bunch of things on my computer are going wrong.
I cannot access the internet, the computer won't even show that there is a network to connect to, but when I booted my older computer with the same modem and everything, it worked perfectly (that's the one I'm actually using now to post this!) A bunch of applications/programs aren't running properly anymore, even those little side links on the control panel window aren't working (I keep getting popups that say the file/program doesn't exist). It seems a lot of things are not existing on my computer!
I've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.
I have Windows Vista Ultimate , but i don't have Windows Aero. My Windows is Genuine.

I tried using vista glazz to patch it back. I tried restarting multiple times. I tried switching to classic theme and back. Nothing works. I have Vista Ultimate 64. Here's a screenshot.

If I go to Control Panel>Appearance & Personalisation>Personalisation> Window Color and Appearance, I have Windows Standard and Windows Classic color schemes listed, but Windows Aero has disappeared.
Does anyone know how to use aero in maximised windows? I know you can use Vistaglazz , but I don't like it.Is there some sort of registry hack of some sort?

When I log in to my account user, the computer refreshed and then the whole settings about the appearance changed. I tried to fix it in windows appearance and when I looked in the choices, I can't find Windows Aero and Windows Home Basic. I don't know why but it just disappeared when I logged in. I tried to restart my computer but nothing happens. It still doesn't appear.

Somewhere along the line Vista Aero stopped working. Now when I click onto appearance settings, the appearance box is black and the color scheme box is blank. I tried downloading service pack 2, updating my drivers and attempting a system restore, but nothing has worked. I think something might be wrong with my graphics settings, because when I right click on the desktop and select graphics properties, I get a intel graphics media box which has the primary device listed as a laptop, and I can't figure out how to change it.

When I was using 32 bit Vista I had all my Hotmail folders, newsgroups, calendar, etc. when I selected the Mail icon.
