I just migrated to 64 bit Vista and I have Windows Mail. When I was using 32 bit Vista I had all my Hotmail folders, newsgroups, calendar, etc. when I selected the Mail icon. Is there a way to migrate Hotmail to Windows Mail, or a way to replace Windows Mail with what I had when I was using 32 bit Vista? I had IE 8 with 32 bit and I have IE 8 with 64 bit.

I have a HP pavilion laptop which came with 64 bit vista ultimate pre-installed. I shrinked the OS partition (160 GB), created new partition (40 GB) for 64 bit windows 7 ultimate. After installation of Windows 7, I cannot see the vista ultimate boot option when I boot my PC. When I boot into Windows 7, I still can see the vista partition. But instead of C: it is now displayed as E: I used the HP Recovery Disc to repair windows vista but I can only see a blank blue screen with the mouse pointer. How can I recover the vista?

Installed the upgrade using the key from the bottom of the PC when it asked for the current product key. No errors. Finishes the upgrade and restarts and still is running Home Premium. Why did ultimate not take? We need ultimate to login to a domain.

With the anytime upgrade to ultimate can I choose between the 32 and 64 bit vista ultimate? I do realize that I would have to do a clean install of the 64 bit OS. I would like to try the 64 bit version but would also like to be able revert back to the 32 bit if the 64 bit doesn't work out. I'd rather not spend a couple hundred dollars to do this when I already own Vista Ultimate 32-bit. My computer came with Home Premium and I purchased a Vista Ultimate Upgrade CD (32 bit). Now what I want to know is if I buy the $30 non liscensed Vista Ultimate (64 bit) CD, can I use my Ultimate (32 bit) Activation key to activate it? This would save me around $150. I talked to the Microsoft guys via chat but we just kept going around and around and they never really answered whether or not the Ultimate 64 bit would accept my Ultimate 32 bit upgrade key.

Hotmail recently announced that they are changing the protocol that will make it incompatible with Outlook Express. There is a new mail client called 'Windows Live Mail' that addresses this. I installed it on my XP Pro machine and it works pretty nicely. Will Windows Mail - standard with Vista support the new Hotmail format? Are any special setups required?

However, i am only able to read the "header & sender" of each message. The content cannot be shown. Error message:WINDOWS LIVE MAIL encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. CHeck your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.
I've been searching thru the net trying to find a solution to this for a few days already. Basically tried everything others suggested, but still no help. Some of the steps i tried:
1. Manually configure server settings for e-mail account. --> HTTP server
2. deleting everything in C:Documents and SettingsLiamLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows Live Mail
3.uninstall & reinstall Windows Live Mail
4.disable antivirus & firewall etc
5.sign in to hotmail (using www.hotmail.com) -some say this need to be done the 1st time
6. i tried so many things, i dont really remember However, there's no problem accessing gmail with Windows Live Mail.

I just built a new PC with Vista Ultimate 64 service pack 1 installed. When i run Windows update, it says "Windows is up to date" and no options for updates are available. There are no errors given. I am trying to install drivers for my graphics card (evga eGeforce 9600 GT in a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard) and when i restart I keep getting the Blue Screen of Death so I wanted to make sure and get all the latest Windows updates. The native Windows video driver works fine, but I want to use dual monitors.

In one place it says that I may be a victim of software counterfeiting. When I chose to go online and resolve it will not validate. In the other place it says to activate windows now. I purchased the computer in November 2007 and haven't had any problems until this month. Is it a coincedence that it has been 6 months? It seemed to start after 2 updates on May 13th and I spent several hours on the phone with Microsoft on May 18th and things seemed better - the remaining problem is that the system locks up after a period of inactivity - usually and hour or two. It has also locked with a backup program running and thus fails to complete the backup. Each of the following errors seem to re-appear in the event log each time

I need to update my Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate and I know they are working on adding it to the automatic updates but I can not wait as I need to add in memory and it will not see anything over 2gb with out SP1. I went to Microsoft's website and found this but not sure this is correct so I wanted to make 100% sure this is the correct update for me and my software as there are several version of Vista out.
View 7 Replies View RelatedA long time ago, Windows Update installed SP1 on my Home Premium system and it shows that in the Control Panel>System display. However, I recently re-installed Ultimate on another system and it does not show SP1 in the Control Panel>System display. Windows Update does not offer SP1 as an update for this system. Windows Update did do a whole bunch of updates that took several reboots etc. after the initial installation. How do I know if SP1 has been applied? WinBubbles shows Build 6000? I downloaded a copy of SP1 somewhere along the way just in case I needed it and am tempted to run it on the Ultimate system but I would like MSFT to handle the job through Window Update just to make sure I get the right stuff.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI put in a new 250GB HDD (SATA) as my primary drive. I have two DVD RW (one SATA and one EIDE). I formated and installed a clean version of Vista Ultimate on the 250GB drive using the install tools on the Vista DVD. Restarted the system without issues without the DVD in. Used the User migration tool on the Vista DVD to move the backed up files from my previous install to the clean install.
Now, if I start my computer, it says that the HDD is not a valid boot disk. If I start with the Vista DVD in one of the two DVD drives, it boots into the windows on the C drive without issue. I tried running the Startup Repair from the DVD, and it has not changed it

I am currently running Vista Ultimate 32 bit and I want to install Windows 7 when it comes out. According to the upgrade advisor I have to purchase the same "Ultimate" version in order to just do an upgrade. It says that if I want to install a lower version, I will have to do a clean install. My question is, if I purchase the lower version (Win 7 Professional), do I have to purchase the full version and not the upgrade version? IOW, can I still do a clean install from the upgrade version? If I recall there was a just this work around when Vista was first released. Would this still hold true for Windows 7?

1. I had received the DVD, registered and received the product key.
2. I had chosen "5000 or more" machines for the DVD when first registered.
3. I had no problem installing WVU on the first 2 machines. However, on the 3rd and 4th machines, I received an error message when trying to activate WVU. I was informed that the product key has already been used by other machines and I was asked to buy another product key?
