Reinstall Ultimate 64 Over Ultimate 64 : A Boot Defrag
Apr 2, 2008
Vista Ultimate 64 Crashed, Tried Recovery Dvd, Start-up Repair, Ng, Can't Get Into Safe Mode Or Command Prompt, Tried To Reinstall, Won't Allow Upgrade "upgrade Disablied, Must Be From Windows", But I Can't Get Into Windows. I Don't Want To Do A Clean Install To Much On There. It Also Seems My Restore Poits Are Gone. This Is After Diskkeeper Did A Boot Defrag.
I have a HP pavilion laptop which came with 64 bit vista ultimate pre-installed. I shrinked the OS partition (160 GB), created new partition (40 GB) for 64 bit windows 7 ultimate. After installation of Windows 7, I cannot see the vista ultimate boot option when I boot my PC. When I boot into Windows 7, I still can see the vista partition. But instead of C: it is now displayed as E: I used the HP Recovery Disc to repair windows vista but I can only see a blank blue screen with the mouse pointer. How can I recover the vista?
I removed the 40GB disc, installed a new 320GB disc (along with a new video card, power supply, RAM and DVD burner) and rebooted using F1 command, from DVD, and installed OEM Vista Ultimate which computer shop sold me as best (read: cheapest) way to go to Ultimate - especially as I was rebuilding so much of my PC...IS THAT RIGHT?. All went fine..
BUT I failed to notice until after activating Vista that I had installed it on the second HDD (the small 30 GB one 'left over' from my original PC configuration! So now I have a 320 GB hdd with nothing on it, a 30GB hdd with Vista on it and already only having 12GB of free space, and all my DOCUMENTS that were on it OVER-WRITTEN by the installation of Vista...
1. Anyway to recover those documents, or are they, as I fear, gone? 2. If I reinstall Ultimate OEM again, ON THE RIGHT disc this time!. which I want to do, as the HDD the OS is on will run out of space at this rate very quickly when I start loading up my Applications on it. 3. Can it be reactivated by internet or phone? Do I have to reactivate it?
After being unable to install SP2 for Ultimate, my computer now says that I have to re-install Vista. Is there a way to get my data from the computer before doing this. I was in the process of backing up all of my inventory for my store and it reset on its own.
I rebuilt my home PC yesterday. I had a 40GB HDD on which I had Vista Premium and my Applications. THIS WAS running out of space. I had a 30 GB hard disk on which I had all my docs....plenty of space on this. I removed the 40GB disc, installed a new 320GB disc (along with a new video card, power supply, RAM and DVD burner) and rebooted using F1 command, from DVD, and installed OEM Vista Ultimate which computer shop sold me as best (read: cheapest) way to go to Ultimate - especially as I was rebuilding so much of my PC...IS THAT RIGHT? . All went fine.......BUT I failed to notice until after activating Vista that I had installed it on the second HDD (the small 30 GB one 'left over' from my original PC configuration!!!!!...
I see Windows Sound Schemes, and DreamScene Content Pack 3 now available. Also the Windows Vista Ultimate Language Packs are back after the SP1 upgrade.
Purchased an HP notebook with premium and set it up but did not activate yet. Then purchased an Ultimate Upgrade with anytime upgrade. Installed the upgrade using the key from the bottom of the PC when it asked for the current product key. No errors. Finishes the upgrade and restarts and still is running Home Premium. Why did ultimate not take? We need ultimate to login to a domain.
I Have Windows Vista OEM 32 bit that came on my computer. I noticed that the full retail version of ultimate includes the 32 and 64 bit install. With the anytime upgrade to ultimate can I choose between the 32 and 64 bit vista ultimate? I do realize that I would have to do a clean install of the 64 bit OS. I would like to try the 64 bit version but would also like to be able revert back to the 32 bit if the 64 bit doesn't work out. If I can't then the 32 bit version it is as I need to join a domain.........
I just migrated to 64 bit Vista and I have Windows Mail. When I was using 32 bit Vista I had all my Hotmail folders, newsgroups, calendar, etc. when I selected the Mail icon. Is there a way to migrate Hotmail to Windows Mail, or a way to replace Windows Mail with what I had when I was using 32 bit Vista? I had IE 8 with 32 bit and I have IE 8 with 64 bit.
Boot Failure - bad ndis.sys, Status 0xC...C9, please insert Install disk and repair (I paraphrase) Tried ALL boot options and got the same result, so I ran the repair from the install disk. The Startup Repair ran for over twelve hours then I got BSOD: STOP 0x0000000A (0xDE49854E 0x00000002 0x00000000 0x888BA8D7)
Tried boot again same results as before; i.e. ndis. Running Startup Repair again now, two hours and counting. BTW running repair off of Anytime Upgrade disk if that makes any difference.
Just curious before I install Ultimate 64-bit on my new rig. I see that the Ultimate 64-bit OEM contains both 32 and 64-bit versions on the box. I was initially planning on installing the 32-bit and in a few months (or more) when the 64-bit has better support, re-installing the 64-bit version. Would it be feasible to just get another hard drive and install BOTH versions now on a dual-boot system?
I'm running a workstation w/ 6 hard drives. My 1st O/S on a separate HD is Win 2K. 3 yrs. later I added XP Pro on another HD. Last yr. I added Vista Ult. on a 3rd separate HD. All worked well & after the SCSI initialization I got to choose which of the 3 to use. Foolish me: I decided to load one of the 3 remaining HDs w/ XP Pro so I could use it exclusively for gaming. Now when I power up I still get THREE choices but instead of Win 2K, XP Pro, and Vista, I get XP Pro (new), XP Pro, Win 2K, but Vista is no longer displayed as a boot choice. Any idea what happened and how I can get it re-displayed?
I've tried all the common fixes posted around the net. I get a two minute boot in safe mode and in reg mode with nothing in the startup. I feel that after looking at the bootlog file that it has something to do with drivers that don't load during the boot. According to the log I have dozens and dozens of drivers that apparently don't load. Here is a sample of the log. I don't enclose the whole log because it is very large. I will if necessary:
Code: Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32DRIVERSsnapman.sys Loaded driver SystemRootSystem32Driversmup.sys Loaded driver SystemRootSystem32driversecache.sys Loaded driver SystemRootSystem32DRIVERSfvevol.sys Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32driversdisk.sys Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32driversCLASSPNP.SYS Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32driverscrcdisk.sys Did not load driver @nettun.inf,%isatap.displayname%;Microsoft ISATAP Adapter Did not load driver @nettun.inf,%isatap.displayname%;Microsoft ISATAP Adapter Did not load driver @nettun.inf,%isatap.displayname%;Microsoft ISATAP Adapter Did not load driver @nettun.inf,%tunmp.displayname%;Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter Did not load driver @hal.inf,%acpiapic.devicedesc%;ACPI x86-based PC.......................
I put in a new 250GB HDD (SATA) as my primary drive. I have two DVD RW (one SATA and one EIDE). I formated and installed a clean version of Vista Ultimate on the 250GB drive using the install tools on the Vista DVD. Restarted the system without issues without the DVD in. Used the User migration tool on the Vista DVD to move the backed up files from my previous install to the clean install.
Now, if I start my computer, it says that the HDD is not a valid boot disk. If I start with the Vista DVD in one of the two DVD drives, it boots into the windows on the C drive without issue. I tried running the Startup Repair from the DVD, and it has not changed it
- I've already have XP Pro installed on my Dell Laptop - Created a 15G partition on the same HDD using Partition Magic - Went to BIOS and changed the Boot sequence to Boot From CD - Inserted my Vista CD - Vista started loading the files......... - Entered the Product Key - On the next screen, where you choose where to install vista, I have C, E, and F partitons and I can select each of them, but the "NEXT" is grayed out. I wanted to install the Vista on my F partion (all are NTFS) but the "Next" is grayed out and on the bottom left hand side there is a message saying" windows can not install the OS on this partion". -Tried to delete the partion, format the partions, but getting the same message. - 5 months ago I successfully was able to install the VISTA on this laptop, dualbooted with XP. But not anymore. - My Admin formated my laptop 3 months ago as I moved to a different group within my organization and there wasn't a need to use VISTA. But now, I want to use both XP and VISTA again.
I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on several machines without incident. Yesterday I installed it onto my desktop. A Gateway that was previously running Win XP I had backed up my hard drive to an external becuase I wanted to do a clean setup. I chose those uptions as they appeared in the setup screen. The os set up fine. I then ran Windows Update. AFter everything downloaded I let the system install the 87 updates. The computer shyt down. I restaeted it and re-ran updates again. After downloading it installed about 7 more updates and shut down. Now when I turn on the machine. I get the "Splash Screen" tehn a black screen and in the top left corner it says: Booting "Windows Vista".....
That hangs for about two minutes then I get a screen that says Setup is inspecting your hardware configuration. Then a screen that says: The file ARFSPK0N could not be found Press any key to continue. I press a key and I get a Setup Failed and it just basically goes back to the beginning. I have tried installing the Original XP setup disc that came with my computer however it reads it then I get a message saying that Drive "R" could not be read and then my CD drive door opens. There is no disc in that drive as the setup disk is a DVD so it is in the DVD drive. I went into the whole setup screen and chnaged the boot order but nothing seems to work.
I have a duel boot on my system, win vista and windows xp. i installed windows vista 1st and then windows xp sp2 but after installing windows xp i am unable to log into windows vista. when i restart it directly starts windows xp rather than showing windows select option
I want to reformat my computer and install Vista Ultimate 64-bit as my operating system. I'd rather not spend a couple hundred dollars to do this when I already own Vista Ultimate 32-bit. My computer came with Home Premium and I purchased a Vista Ultimate Upgrade CD (32 bit). Now what I want to know is if I buy the $30 non liscensed Vista Ultimate (64 bit) CD, can I use my Ultimate (32 bit) Activation key to activate it? This would save me around $150. I talked to the Microsoft guys via chat but we just kept going around and around and they never really answered whether or not the Ultimate 64 bit would accept my Ultimate 32 bit upgrade key.
I've recently put together a new computer using these parts: I've updated to Vista Ultimate SP1, run multiple disk clean ups, defrags, use CCleaner, clean the registry, defrag the registry, disabled services and have made tweaks according to the guide provided on this website and have minimal startup programs running but my boot times average around 2 minutes. For a new computer with new hardware, this seems unreasonable as many users report boot times between 30-60 seconds. What could be wrong with my computer? On the vista loading screen with the green bar, it goes through about 22 cycles.
i am having really slow boot ups lately on my laptop. i have done things such as virus scans, defrag hhd, scan regestry with REGESTRY BOOSTER 2009, defrag regestry. i also have no start up programs in my strat up folder. Problem is that i could start from dead start to a fully loaded desktop in 98 secs....now it takes 124 secs to do the same thing. where it takes the longest is at the boot screen i just watch it load then the windows logo comes up and it smooth sailing from there. i would say it takes about 8-12 secs after the windows logo to get to desktop.
What is the best way to upgrade an OEM (Lenovo) Vista Ultimate 32 bit to Ultimate 64? Can it be done? Is the only way through the OEM? Should there be a cost?
Oh yes prog was called Defrag from PC Mech. It worked like this ran prog it then rebooted system and on startup ran chkdsk then defraged volume. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, I have a car.... But is there not a way to create a script file that would reboot system run chkdsk and defrag then boot into OS. I will also be shuting of defrag I do not want it running all the time.
i bought a pc from a shop and had no disks included, vista home premium was already installed on the machine, i now need to boot up from the cd to run the first aid to try and fix problems i have, worst case scenario wipe the machine and start again but i have no disk. how do i do this is there somewhere on my machine to create a cd/dvd or can i borrow my friends and use that.
I'm not sure where this goes but i was wondering what would give my system the best performance after a reinstall. Boot Or From Desktop I have Windows Vista Ultimate 32&64bit. Going to install 64Bit. Whats the Best Reinstallation Method
I have a laptop with 64-bit Home Premium. The warranty expires in June. I want to upgrade to Ultimate. I haven't checked out the Anytime Upgrade yet. Will I be able to get the 64-bit upgrade to Ultimate or is a 32-bit upgrade to Ultimate the only upgrade path?
I have a less than simple couple questions. Background,Dual boot PC (XP and Vista),No longer need XP as I am happy with Vista.XP is installed to a raid array of 2 80Gb SATA HD Vista is installed to an IDE HD,
1) What I want to do Reinstall Vista to the raid array Get rid of the boot loader option that asks XP or Vista at start up Want a clean install of Vista on the raid when done, not really interested in executing an upgrade 2) Concerns I have several media licenses (wma's from Walmart Music Store) on Vista on the IDE drive.,Questions for the group ,Could you tell me the best way to do #1,Can the windows easy transfer keep the media licenses or do I have to go through Wal-Mart to get the licenses reactivated? Or are there other options for the licensing of the WMAs
I'm going to upgrade or do a new install of VISTA Ultimate on my Dell XPS 600.
It will do either 32 or 64 bit (32 bit NVIDIA chipset and Intel CPU), and, I'm wondering if I want to do 64-bit, mainly for the RAM (being able to use more than 2-4 GB (I can use up to 8 GB on that MB)).
What's the pros and cons--should I just stick with 32?
At the moment I've installed Vista Ultimate x64 Sp2 and on the task manager I see that the system is using about 1.1 gig of my memory. I disabled all of the fancy features of vista and using Vista classic theme.
how can i teww if sp1 is instaled ons my system, or is its ans atomatic update in the future? -- HP Pavilion m9280n MS Vista Ultimate 2.4 Quad Core 3GB Ram 1.75TB
