I had downloaded VideoLan and I need STEP by STEP help. I was with the understanding that I could convert just the audio from a video into MP3. I looked at the Help section, and it told me nothing.

Maybe this can help someone else. Might be old hat for veterans, I realize - but not for us non-tech experts.
I still do not know what happened [some random software program update I could not locate??]. None of the first gazillion solutions located worked. But what did work for me in the end was an answer found in a totally unrelated forum - and feels like I searched them all. We don't use Windows mail as our default. every time we want to send a picture (send to - email recipient) we are told we have to set up an account with Windows mall. All of our defaults have been checked and rechecked with no resolution. Occasional, Windows Outlook pops up without the send button. Our default programs are Thunderbird and Mozilla.

I have a Hp Pavillion computer with windows vista home premium and somehow I could not get Windows Aero to work. When I first had this computer, I had Windows Aero running with all the translucent effects.So I do know that my computer is compliant with windows aero but its somehow disabled. My computer automatically changed to windows vista basic.
