Sixaxis On Windows Haven't Found In 64Bit?
Aug 8, 2008I want to use my PS3 controller, aka my Sixaxis, on my computer. I know there are drivers for it, but I haven't found any for Vista x64.

Dec 12, 2009I know you guys get this question alot, but after searching through the forum posts and trying the various methods, still this obstacle remains. Ok, I just bought a Gateway E-155 tablet online and it came with Vista Ultimate 32 & 64bit versions. The person who I purchased it from said it was already installed and ready to go. When I received the laptop today, I turned it on and it said no OS installed.
I went through the procedures and arrived at the 'where do you want to install Windows' part of installation which, of course, had no HD to choose from. After researching the topic it seems that this is a common problem. I decided to go to Gateway.com and downloaded all the drivers and unzipped them and put them onto a USB drive and still it said 'no drivers found'. Then I found a post that suggested going to Intel and obtaining the SATA/RAID driver. After putting that onto the USB, tried it again and it finally found a file (ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI Controller) but after it attempted to use it, said that still no driver was found.
One person suggested going into the BIOS and turning the 'RAID' on, but I saw nothing of it on the SATA settings and so I adjusted those settings, each one followed by reattempting to find the drivers. nothing.
Upgrade Windows 64bit From XP 64bit Trial Error: 0x8007000D
Mar 26, 2008I purchased a digital update of Windows Vista Premium upgrade and the download won't load. I am useing a trial version of Windows XP 64-bit. I first used the digital locker a few times and it would stop at 99 percent and give a validation error. I figured it the locker was having a problem so i manual downloaded the three files through my internet browser. They downloaded fine without problems, but when I tried to run the Vista setup I ran into another error: 0x8007000D Windows was unable to create a required installation folder.

May 28, 2008I'e been using my new PC with Windows x64 Ultimate SP1. I'm very happy with it, I haven't run into any problems with it and everything is running smoothly. I'd like to know what are the major tweaks I should do to improve performance even more. I'm concerned more about performance than anything. I've also noticed that there is a lot of disk access, even after shutting down the indexing service. Mainly, I'd like to know what services are safe to turn off. In XP I knew what to disable, in Vista a lot of things have changed. Also what is a good Pagefile size for a system with 8b of ram? I mostly use my PC for photo editing (Photoshop and Lightroom), and for playing a few games, Crysis and Live For Speed. I consider my hard fast enough, and it runs very fast for me. But I am the kind of person that wants to disable anything that I don't use to get that bit of extra performance.

Jul 26, 2008I do not like XP. With a passion. It blows, along with all the people clinging to it's rotting carcass. May they all die horrid putrid rotting deaths. Okay not really but you get that I don't care much for XP, right?. I've always used linux as long as I remember too (****e I've used everything over the years - Atari, Amiga, Commodore..), and I actually abandoned XP for Ubuntu, save for playing games. I love Ubuntu! But, I must say using Vista 64 now for about a month I actually *like it*. There are a bit of things Mac OS could stea.. err borrow. Like Readyboost. I found a 2 pack of PNY 4 gig drives on sale for $25 at staples a few weeks ago, so I snagged them to use for readyboost. It's fantastic, Firefox is loaded and displaying the home page before I even release the damn mouse button. ..................

Oct 2, 2008I've got a new PC witn vista on it and i noticed that the edges on every window is blinking and it effects every windows i open espically the search bar in windows. Well i've searched every where for a solution and I found some. Some say the Display card, some say Bluetooth driver, some say ..... etc etc. Non of these solution helped me, and i bet som people are still buged with this problem.
Well I've found the solution Click on start and type "Services", Scroll down to "Shell Hardware Detection" right click on it and choose "Properties" Disable it from "Startup type" and Stop the service, a message will tell that another service will be stoped, and it asks you if you want to go on, well if you want to get rid of the blinking, you'd better go on. After stoping the service you will notice the blinking is gone, but just to make sure, restart the computer and check. I am sorry for not beeing able to attach any pictures to make it easier for some people, But i'm not good with writing threads either.

Mar 23, 2008I purchased the business version of vista from Windows marketplace, then I performed an anytime upgrade to Ultimate, now I would like to change to vista 64 but I don't have a disk and I am not sure that my current key will work. I called Microsoft about obtaining alternate media (64 bit disk) however they informed me that I couldn't get a dish through the alternate media plan because I bought from marketplace and not a retail canter. This is nuts to me. There must be some reasonable way to get a 64 bit disk in which my key will work without purchasing an entirely new version of vista. I mean dang I paid a ton for this, and now with me still playing fair they won't send me a 64 bit disk or let me purchase one for a minimal fee.

Aug 8, 2009The latency symptoms I described have disappeared although Disk Cleanup might have removed something that was clogging up IE8 and/or the desktop. Besides that I reactivated Windows Defender, updated and ran it. But it found nothing. I then ran the latest MS Malicious Software Removal Tool and it found nothing. And I ran another KIS sweep. It noted something like a Java update I needed and a Firefox update I needed and after updating those then found no vulnerabilities. I also unloaded the game DVD, 'Prototype' that was in the tray installed and ready to play.
And at some point after rebooting I tried IE8 again and left it running for most of a day and the latency in its Favorites or in the desktop Task Bar has not returned once since. I loaded the game DVD again and played it a few times but left the DVD with the tray closed and still no latency issue has returned. This had been bothering me a number of days prior in-between reboots and running many several apps in the course of a day and seeing this latency problem many times, which was usually what would drive me to reboot since that would clear up the problem for a while............

Dec 31, 2008I was having constant blue screens in my new Gateway comp. Its a laptop, M Series, 15.4 inch screen. It brought along the Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit OS with SP1. Dual processors, 4GB of memory. After countless of blue screens, they seemed to come and go, I figured the comp was just being dumb. I unistalled all the things I had placed on it [which really wasn't much] so the laptop was running with all the things it brought from scratch only. Blue screens disappeared for a day or so, and then came again, though with less frequency. I was using it today, left it for a few minutes, and when I returned it had gone to the usual stand by mode.
Moved the cursor so it would restore, but after twenty minutes of a blank black screen I decided to turn it off and on again. And that's when it started to refuse to boot. Whenever it tries the bar appears for a minute or so, and afterwards it's replaced by the BSOD. To my disdain they always disappear quickly, so the most I can read on it is something about a driver malfunction, or whatever, and the error code 0x0000007E. So yeah, if anyone has a clue as to why it won't boot, and how to fix it, I'd be grateful. Of course, I could just re-format it -- but I want to leave that option as a last case scenario.
Windows & XP Multi Boot System> New Partition Wizard Not Found
Mar 26, 2008I bought a new laptop with Vista already installed on it. I want to install XP in a multi boot configuration but get stuck in Disk Management and am unable to proceed from there. I'd like to keep Vista on my laptop, but if it comes down to it I'll need to take it off and put on XP because our work computers run with XP and we do a lot of work on reports and presentations from home and network from home. I can't find the New Partition Wizard to make a space for XP.

Feb 23, 2009I am running Windows Vista Ultimate with Windows Defender Disabled and Norton Internet Security 2009 installed. Someone who is completely trusted sent me an email with an attachment. The attachment was defined as a ZIPP file. I copied the file to my desktop and renamed it to a ZIP file to access the enclosed files. Within the ZIP are four OCX files which I need to copy to my System32 directory.
When I attempt to copy the files to any location in my computer, I get "Windows has found this file is potentially harmful. To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file." When I click on the "How does this help protect my computer." link it takes me to Windows Mail help. This has nothing to do with Windows Mail. Where can I adjust the Security settings in Windows to fix this problem

Mar 23, 2008I have a new WD external hard drive that I'm trying use with Vista Ultimate, but when I connect the drive I get an error message saying,
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. USB Mass Storage Device Access is denied" I found a KB article which seems to be related, but even after acquiring and installing the hotfix I still can't get the drive to install. May 5, 2009Since I installed IE8, I have had a lot of small glitches. I have been able to clean them all up. But this one has been completely resistant to all my attempts to solve it. Here is the problem. Please READ this and do not jump to conclusions (such as that the problem is a program association problem -- which it is NOT) that are not based on this scenario, nor recommend to me doing something that I have already tried.
- I receive a Word document attached to an e-mail.
- I double click on the document in the ATTACH box of the received e-mail.
- Windows Mail opens a MAIL ATTACHMENT window asking if I want to open the document.
- Word 2007 opens.
- Word 2007 opens a MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD window that says "This file could not be found. (C:...Filename ...)" where Filename is the name of the .DOC file.
The same thing happens with PDF files: Adobe Acrobat Reader opens but then opens an ADOBE READER window that says "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found.".........

Mar 27, 2008I've heard conflicting reports as to whether Office 2000 will run successfully under Vista. In the hope that they are compatible, I installed Office 2000 and then installed (from the Microsoft site) updates SR-1a and SP-2. Then I downloaded SP3, but when I attempted to install it, I got the message "The expected version of the product was not found on your system." Is there some reason for this, or should I just try again? I looked for, but could not find, a newsgroup that deals with Office 2000 -- is there an alternative newsgroup that would be better for these questions?
