View 7 Replies View RelatedI received zipped files via FTP. I extracted them and brought them to a C:folder. I have three choices: a CD, a Web or a LMS version. I cannot open any of the key HTML file in them. The choice is either player.html or index.html. I can view the source code but keep getting blocked. I tell Vista to allow blocked content. Nothing. I am the administrator. I started fooling with the Active X and Scripted security features since this is the warning I receive when trying to open the HTLM file. I enabled everything you aren't supposed to, received the dire warnings but still cannot access the content. I put everything back to default (because the dire warnings are scarey!) I am using Vista Home Premium. I am desperate to open any of these three files as I have a job using them next week.

When I turned my computer on today it seems that all of my filenames have 'disappeared' - the files are still called the same that I named them, but instead of them showing the titles, they either show the date modified or only certain details. I mainly have music on my hard drive, and now the folder looks like this:
As you can see, on the left in the folder tree, the path is showing up, the files are still there etc, but instead of the track titles, there is now only the artist and album? I have tried shift and view, tried different views, tried changing the folder view to pictures and videos etc, I have also completely scanned the drives and there doesn't seem to be any problems? Under 'folder options' I have tried showing all extensions etc, showing hidden files, different customizing of views:...........
I'm not having much luck with Google and I realize it's off topic in here, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction for help. In Winzip 12.0 when I open a zip file with pictures in it, it always brings them up in thumbnail view. I can change the view to "details" and get a list of the filenames which is what I want to be the default action. But I can't seem to find a place where I can set that to the default. Winzip 8.0 didn't do this. I was *happy* with 8.0 but unfortunately it isn't compatible with Vista or Windows 7

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having problems getting my shared folders on my XP Home machine to show up on my Vista Ultimate 64 cpu. I see my XP Home machine in the Network Map, but the only thing that I am seeing from that cpu is my DLNA servers. From my XP computer I am able to see both the folders I am sharing and the folders the Vista cpu is sharing. I have only 1 account on both cpus that are named the same and have the same password. I am running a Netopia router/modem from Qwest running the QM01-7.7.4r10 firmware version. I have tried disabling my firewall on both ends.
I have everything turned on in Network and Sharing Center except password protection, but have tried it both on and off. My XP Home has all the most recent updates (SP3, etc...). I am also up to date on all my Vista stuff except the "Group Policy Preferance Client Side Extensions" optional update. My router is seing both computers as being in the LAN. Attatched is a screenshot of the network map.
I am looking for path of hosts file in vista x64. I found solution to get for 32bit apps to see the 64-bit tree, search now find hosts file and i see it and can edit it. But before these solution i was unable to find hosts file.

Problem playing .MOV Kodac Camera File on Ultimate & Premium. Anyone know how to make this work. Installed K-Lite on XP Pro and Ultimate using the same .EXE installer. After error I reinstalled K-Lite on Ultimate with new download.

Just finished my upgrade from Home Premium x64 SP1 to Ultimate x64 SP1. I've been lurking here on the forum for a while now and having seen quite a few folks having problems with their upgrades, I thought a post sharing the steps I took, which resulted in a Smooooth and problem free upgrade, might be of interest to some.
In no way am I advocating or recommending ANY of the steps that are shown here (i.e. turning off the firewall, etc.).
First phase:
-Purchase and download the upgrade to my hard drive (shoparhive.com was less costly than digital locker). Since I live 40 miles away from the nearest store, I preferred the digital download.
-Extract the .iso file using winrar to an empty folder on the desktop.
-Performed full system virus scan.
-Performed full system spyware scan.
-Performed full system backup to the removable HP media drive.
-Burn the downloaded iso file to dvd, and the extracted files to another dvd.
Second phase:....................
Vista started giving a blue screen a couple of days ago. Mentioned something about a bad device, but no new devices have been added. Went through the typical steps, tried to boot in safe mode and got the following errors:
AtBroker.exe The application failed to initialize properly. Click OK.
Explorer.exe The application failed to initialize properly. Blue Screen
Then booted to my install dvd, tried to fix errors. Came back with a failed check at the file system integrity check. Ran the check a second time and no errors are found. Can't boot in safe mode, and when i try to repair errors I get no errors found.
I see Windows Sound Schemes, and DreamScene Content Pack 3 now available. Also the Windows Vista Ultimate Language Packs are back after the SP1 upgrade.

Installed the upgrade using the key from the bottom of the PC when it asked for the current product key. No errors. Finishes the upgrade and restarts and still is running Home Premium. Why did ultimate not take? We need ultimate to login to a domain.

With the anytime upgrade to ultimate can I choose between the 32 and 64 bit vista ultimate? I do realize that I would have to do a clean install of the 64 bit OS. I shrinked the OS partition (160 GB), created new partition (40 GB) for 64 bit windows 7 ultimate. After installation of Windows 7, I cannot see the vista ultimate boot option when I boot my PC. When I boot into Windows 7, I still can see the vista partition. But instead of C: it is now displayed as E: I used the HP Recovery Disc to repair windows vista but I can only see a blank blue screen with the mouse pointer. How can I recover the vista?

Stupid SP turned all the start up items and proccesses on, that I'd spent weeks filtering through and turning off. I've turned off pretty much everything, yet my computer takes about twice as long to boot up as before. I HATE that stupid icon they've used to replace the hourglass, because it's ALWAYS there.
In addition, the newest oddity is only the 1st person to login can get their hotmail without a reboot. If I login under my username and get hotmail, then my wife switches user and tries to get her hotmail she can login, but can't view her inbox. The opposite is true if she logs in first and I switch user. Who knows what else this SP screwed up but I haven't found yet. Anybody else have this issue and figure out a fix?

What I'd like to do is walk around a room with a tablet PC, and have what is on my screen copied to a separate desktop PC in the same room. The desktop PC would be projecting to a screen using an LCD projector. FWIW, this is the only way I can think of to use a wireless lcd tablet that also connects to an LCD projector. I have a wireless tablet (Wacom Graphire) that almost does this, but the tablet itself just has a grey surface to write on. I have to look up at the projector screen to see what I'm writing.
