I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but my XP switches to the 'switch user' setting every time the screen saver comes on. It gets really annoying so I wondered if anyone could tell me how to turn it off.
View 3 RepliesI am running XP Pro, single user on my machine. My screen saver setting is to require a password upon resuming. Until a few days ago this was working fine, showing the Welcome screen. Then suddenly I am now (only upon screenaver resumption) getting the classic logon screen. The option setting in the screensaver settings window has changed and I am utterly unable to determine what changed it or how to return it to the original state.
My account settings are for Fast User Switching and to Show Welcome Screen. I am not part of a domain. In perusing some newsgroups I have found this question before, however nowhere an answer to the question how to fix it. I concluded that something I must have done (without me being aware of it) had changed this and consequently decided to use an XP test build on another machine to possibly pinpoint such an occurence through a phased approach. Much to my surprise I found the setting for a screensaver to 'upon resome, password protect' from the get-go, i.e. the very first time I logged on, so my attempt for analyis was proven unsuccessful in record time.....
We have several users that log into virtual machines from their home. We have one group in particular that has a user complaining that they are being logged off of remote desktop rather frequently. I checked their VM and the screen saver wasnt set to go off for over 2 hours and they are complaining that they are getting logged off after 30min. Is there a setting that can adjust how long before a remote desktop session will last before the person has to give the log in credentials again?

I ask this because it usually takes mine a while to load up to the logon screen, but then I have to go back and login before it works properly, so yeah, I'd just like to get it to log me in, load up, then got to the switch user screen so that I can go watch TV for half an hour, come back, and be ready to go.

Once it gets to the user screen for user selection both keyboard and mouse stop working, its either they stop working or the computer freezes, i am not sure. Life still goes to the mouse as it still lights. The keyboad works fine in the bios but not at freezing point.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWanted to skip the Login screen on my Windows XP computer and login to my account automatically, so my computer would boot faster. I used this ( http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/welskip.php ) guide. So, i went to Start > Run > I entered in "control userpasswords2" and hit "OK" > I unchecked the box which states "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" and applied the setting > The computer then requested the username and password of the account I wished to automatically login. This is where I think I messed up. By default, the username box is filled in with "Administrator" and since I am the administrator I did not change the username to "Ben" (which is what my accounts name is) and I left the username box filled with "Administrator". Also, I left the password blank (this is because I have no password). Now when I try to start up my computer I am stuck on the blue screen stating "Starting Up" and I never get to my desktop. How do I fix this (meaning, how do I change this setting back)? Can I boot my computer into safe mode and then change the setting back, or is there an easier way to fix this?

(the only way I've figured out how to dual-boot the same program) and I was wondering... Is there anyway to make it somehow use less resources doing so? i can't switch user it just cancels and doesn't do anything. I go to control panel and Fast User Switching is off, but i try to trun it on. i press Apply Option and i go back to it and its off again. Because of a particular application, I decided that I didn't want to automatically switch back to standard time at 2:00 AM. I would do it manually later.So I unchecked the box on the server and all of my PCs on the 28th. When I got ready to make the manual change around 5:00 AM on the 29th, they were all already on standard time. Does this mean that the box only affects going to daylight savings time and that it will always revert to standard time?

I was using a screen saver with fish in an aquarium. With only my 8 MB card, the animation was really impressive. I tried my screen saver yesterday with my new 512 MB card and the picture was terrible. There were plenty of horizontal lines on the screen. What could explain this? Could it be that the program wasn't intented for this type of card? In those days, big cards like mine didn't exist. There might be a new update to this screen saver.

Am I to assume that we only have to make changes on Servers of which the clients get their time from? Outside of that, other systems that aren't server dependent such as UPS machines and such, will need the time to be changed manually?Just curious if anyone has already started to work on this.
