When I go to Programs, where I did have 3 columns of programs, I now have only a few installed programs showing. If I go into C Drive and check they are there but the list is gone from the Programs tab under start.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've reinstalled XP and some icons are missing from the "Start"/"all programs" menu. Both Outlook Express and Internet Explorer are missing. I was able to locate them using "search" then open and pin to start menu. (The search function displays i.e. shortcuts for "administrator", "guest" and the other user, but not for me. The icons do display on the "all programs" list for the other user). Any suggestions as to how to get them back on the "all programs" menu?

For the life of me I just don't remember how to put a program icon in the (All Programs) list. Start to All Programs. I tried using properties > customize, but no luck. Will make a note after words.

My problem is, however, the entry in Add/Remove remains but only with the name "My Way Search Assistant" and when I click on it all that shows is "Used Rarely"It has no size and no longer has any option to change or remove.I have looked for registry entries there are none is there a program listed.

However, browsing through, (is it still windows explorer?), I saw that the folder is still there and full of goodies. Can I just delete the entire main folder? I get nervous in and around there since something is always sharing something from somewhere else.

When I was able to get back online, there are all sorts of problems with my McAfee (i.e. I all of a sudden have no virus protection and I can't reinstall it). Also, when I go to add/remove programs, there is nothing there. It was "ucmore search" or something like that... I was getting a new firefox window with ads on it every single minute. When it got me tired, I installed Ad-aware and run it. Automatically quarantine everything it spotted.Even then, the problem was still there. It just shows size, used frequency and last used on, I cannot uninstall those programs incl. the officeXP package. My computer was OK since I shut it off last night. I don't know if I did something wrong to it. This morning, at the logon menu I was surprised~ There are many message boxes appeared saying that Program files is corrupted and bla bla bla~ If my dad knows this, I'll get grounded. The next thing I realised is, there are these start bar messages telling me " The file or directory H:Program Files is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility" and H is where my program files folder is because I renamed it from C to H.
