I tried to access Microsoft Press Interactive Training and receive a message that a file that is required for normal operation is missing. That I should reinstall it from my cd . Im the only user on this computer and havent deleted anything related to this file. I only delete cookies and temporary files.
The integrated keyboard (PS/2) on my Inspiron 2650 notebook stopped working in the middle of normal operation. The power and standby keys work, along with the mouse, but no standard keys respond, even on powerup. XP says its working fine.
When I started up my computer yesterday it said I had a missing or corrupt file and I needed to reinstall windows. So I put my disk in and it said loading files then it said setup is starting windows and then it said loading files. It kept doing this over and over and over. So I took the CD out and tried starting the computer. I got a disk read error. This is where I am now.
I am having problem when trying to install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition. When I start the installation I get the message below: "A previous installation created pending file operation on the installation machine. You must restart the computer before running setup" Even if I restart the machine the message keep coming up, and I am not able to install the SQL server.
I have fixed this problem in the past in repair mode and i want to do the same with this, but, there is no filename at the end of the statement see below Windows could not start because the following file is corrupt or missing windowssystem32configsystem Can this be fixed in repair mode without having to be reformated or reimaged.
Problems occured after last update from Microsoft and consistent blue screens which I was able to correct in Safe Mode. Seems Microsoft dumped part of SP2 in my ad-remove programs but now I'm back to SP1 although there may be a conflict? Now using Microsoft "how to troubleshoot missing network connections icons in....XP" gets me to step 5...registering the dlls. Two I was able to register...netcfgx.dll and netman.dll.
As of a few days ago I'm having a problem with my local disk (C) icon in my computer. It's gone! All I see right now is a generic icon. Is there a way to get back to normal.
So my sister gets hold of a computer in the house and ruins it, and here is the dilemma I am facing: I turn on the computer and right away i come to this message.... Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: windowssystem32configSYSTEM Attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the Original CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. So I enter the cd rom and press 'r' for repair, I choose C:windows, however before it can begin to repair it asks me for an 'Administration Password' which I have no idea of after many attempts. I do not want to have to format the pc since I have some very important files on it. Any help is appreciated.

Lately my pc has experienced lots of different problems. It all started one day when I installed a program named xfire. It was running fine with xfire until I came home from school. Heres a list of the problems:
1. live messneger has forgot my email and runs slowly when i attempt to retype it. 2.Live messneger cannot connect at all. It just comes up with this message straight away 3. The copy of windows I'm running has been classed as an illegal copy by the microsoft website (my pc has a preinstalled installation of windows which was on when it was bought from a store). 4.Many installation programs now come up with errors about missing files. 5.I can't find any viruses with avast,ad-aware or spybot. 6. I uninstalled ie 7 which somehow allowed the normal windows messenger to work without the scripts errors I got before, but now I can't reinstall ie7. The setup always comes up with a missing file error.

I can't install my printer because this file is missing or not right. I tried another solution, but my RunOnce file is not missing. Can anyone help? Windows XP OS trying to install a HP D4160 printer.
was getting a blue screen 07A was told by computer techs without looking it was either my hard drive or my operating system. Checked my hard drive several different ways and no problems. So I went to do a Windows XP repair instead of complete reinstall as they are a pain. After a long time it came back that couldn't do this because SPCMDCOM>SYS file was missing and couldn't repair from recovery console without it. My hard drive was replaced by Dell in July of 05 I think. What can I do without going to extremes? Secondly can I install my cd/dvd rom on my other Dell PC with discs I already have? I am very aggravated. I want to try to save at least 1 computer. On the 1st PC about 2 months ago I had my 17 inch flat panel go out it starts but then go black, I am using the 2nd computers screen!
This came up while attempting to reinstall XP. The CD is in there, Does it just mean I should give up? The file on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD is needed.Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.
I have a pc that has mine and a roomates account on it.it would not finish booting to the main Windows desktop screen. It sits at the "Windows XP Home Edition" loading screen for about 2 or so min. then goes black for another 2 min. then a little white arrow cursor comes up and the screen is still black. After 2 more min. a grey warning box appears and says the following:Isass.exe Was not able to find SAMSRV.dll file, reistall this try again..bla bla bla have a nice day.In short my pc is at this moment a 20lb door stop.I had a friend a couple years back take his old XP disc and somehow fix a simular issue.Least I thought thats what he did.I dont know his where abouts and I've seen some other forum's 3 year old thread mention how to repair the file, by reinstalling the entire Windows program.
After doing 'One Button Checkup' I get an error. Missing File:"CProgram FilesCommonFilesInstallShieldProfessinalRunTime701Intel 32DotNet.Installer.exe" (cannot access a necessary file "mscoree.dll") Win Doctor is unable to find & replace it, so it must have been deleted after Installation or later, ..... it doesn't seem to affect the computer so far, is it necessary to replace & would I be able to extract & replace it from original Windows XP disc, or would it only be possible by re-installing Windows XP?
I'm battling spyware removal at the moment (aurora) and somehow my win xp sp2 search function no longer works. i get an error "A File That Is Required to Run Search Companion Cannot Be Found" you may need to run setup I went to the microsoft website and downloaded the hotfix, however it doesn't work with sp2! anybody know how to fix this? I am having a problem with XP Pro Freezing during operation. The problem began after installing a Dail-up modem ("DYNEX" MOD# DX-M100) and loading the drivers for said Modem and a windows hardware update for the modem (that failed to install). First I had Blue Screenc ( c0000005 ) and stop errors ( 0X 000000D1 ). I then removed hardware and restored to previous state but continued blue screens. after some checking disabled "Norton antivirus" auto protect and have had no more Blue Screens. However the problem with freezing remains.
I created another user on my XP home edition machine to isolate "business"
Logged on as my alter ego, I needed to open a Visio file. It asked for the master disk, and I proceeded to install (even though Viso is already installed for me to use as the prime user). I got a message that the Administrator had blocked this kind of activity.
How did I block it? And more important, how do I unblock it?
I have Windows XP Home Edition on HP Pavilion dv1000 series laptop. I installed AutoCAD2008 from their web site a few months ago. I found that it immediately slowed down my computer, even though I more than met their minimal installation requirements. After a week, I purchased a new computer to run ACAD, and uninstalled the program (except for the free DWF viewer) from my laptop. My laptop remained really slow. I tried to do the system Restore, but my computer was unable to go back to the date selected. I believe I defragged etc. after the uninstall, but am not 100% sure I did.
When I start the laptop first thing, the time showing doesn't change, even though minutes are passing. It takes about ten minutes from turning on the PC to getting Internet Explorer to open up. Or even to run Solitaire or open Notepad. I wonder if my ZoneLabs Security System is causing some of this slowness. Lately, I've been having to turn off the power to my laptop manually to get it to shut down.I regularly edit and keep my start up programs to a minimum, but include the programs Mozy (backup) and ZoneAlarm Security. I ran HijackThis and the log file is below. I've been puzzled why ZoneLabs has two scanning processes running at the same time.
I had a slow computer operation problem previously, and using the support here was able to fix it. I'm having the excrutiatingly slow operation again, where I click something like Solitaire, and it takes 2 to 4 minutes to run it the first time.
I started having these problems a few days ago. The main one is that when I try to go to Tools/Internet Options in Internet Explorer,I get the message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer." I get a similar message when I try to save changes when exiting msconfig. Needless to say, I am the administrator and the only one who uses the computer, so it's not a restriction/permission issue. My problem is that my registry path doesn't match up to what is shown above. After I get to Policies/Microsoft there is no Internet Explorer folder in either of those two paths. If I start from CURRENT USER, the only folder under Policies/Microsoft is System Certificates, and if I start from LOCAL MACHINE, the only folders are Conferencing, System Certificates, Windows, and Windows NT. I tried searching the whole registry for "restrictions" and found nothing. So what do I do now?
