Disable Right Mouse Button
Sep 2, 2005I work for a library and all I want to do is completely disable the right mouse button in Windows XP on public access computers (but allow me to login as administrator and enable/disable it again). I figured Windows would have something like this built in, but it doesn't. I figured there would be a freeware program that could do this, but I can't find one. Some mouse drivers allow you to disable the right mouse button, but not for the mice I have. Do you know of some obscure Windows XP registry setting that would allow me to disable the right mouse button (in all contexts), or of a simple freeware utility that would allow me to do this?

Oct 17, 2005I have a dell lattitude d800, and my mouse pointer automatically goes to the upper left hand corner. i've plugged an external mouse and i get the same problem. i don't have any spyware - or viruses - as i've ran adaware, spybot, and microsoft antispyware. i've also ran Norton antivirus - and none of the three have detected maliciuos sw or viruses. i don't have any other problems w/the machine. i've uninstalled the default drivers, and reinstalled them.

Mar 6, 2010i am using xp pro with a Labtec wireless keyboard & mouse and the scroll wheel has broken in the mouse so i have bought a usb wireless mouse. The existing keyboard/mouse connects with a black square receiver box of which then has 2 leads so it can be plugged into the mouse & keyboard port at the rear of the pc.
I have plugged in the new usb wireless mouse ok but the system still works with the old broken mouse. In the mouse settings box both mice are listed but is it possible to dissable the broken mouse so the new mouse will work,there is no option to dissable the mouse on the screen like there is for the new usb wireless mouse. Failing that how can i uninstall the complete keyboard/mouse as the only listing in add/remove programs is the labtec wireless desktop of which is just somekind of add on software as with this removed the keyboard/mouse still works.

Jan 5, 2005I use Windows XP home edition. My computer locks up every now and then, the mouse, keyboard, everything. The only way to recover it is to press the reset button. It may go for days and have no problems, then may lock up several times in one day. Than it might go for days again with no problems. It happens a lot when you are playing the windows games, but it will also do it sometimes with other programs. I have looked everywhere to try and figure it out, but I have had no luck. Do you have any ideas what might be causing this or where I can look to correct this problem?

Sep 25, 2006I bought a laptop from someone. Dell 6230S. It has windows XP sp2. I reloaded Windows and made myself the administrator. The person who had this before me has a group of files, lets call them JONAH (not real name) about 1/2 GB in size and I can't delete them!! Actually I've managed to delete some but not all. Jonah is about 1/2 the size it used to be. They're located in C:documents and Settings and they contain all his old files including his windows files, my documents etc. I've tried deleting from safe mode, I've tried using KillBOX (in and out of safe mode and on reboot), I've tried unchecking "READ OnLY" and I still can't do it. This is quite a bit of space so I want to reclaim it. I'm using NTFS.

Jan 13, 2008When I open up the Start Menu on one of the accounts, there is nothing in the left-hand column. When I right click and get the Properties, and try to Customize the Menu, the options don't save, and I'm stuck with nothing. I've tried clicking on the Internet radio button for "Show on Start Menu". I click Ok, then Apply, and Finally Ok again. But when I go back to the menu, it still has nothing in the left-hand column.
The second thing I've noticed was under Folder Options -> View, I tried to check both the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" button, and also un-check "Hide extensions for Known File Types" and click on Apply, then Ok again. But still, these options don't save and are reset back to "Do not show hidden files", and "hide extensions".

When I was installing it a box or something appeared saying it was suddenly missing files and it wanted me to put in the Service pack 2 disk - which I didn't have.
