Mar 28, 2008After reading the threads concerning transferring all data, email addresses, favorites, documents, pictures, ITune library etc. from an old computer with XP to a new computer with Vista, I was completely over my head and understood very little of what was suggested. Is there a program to assist technically challenged people to move into a new computer. I really need a new computer but this process scares me completely. Should I just pay a professional to do it and stop worrying? Someone suggested Norton Ghost. Anyone know of this program and it's effectiveness in my situation?

Aug 13, 2009My mainboard is an Asrock AOD790GX/128MI am trying to set up a fresh install of windows XP pro SP3 on a single hard drive.I don’t want the RAID feature just the AHCI.I have set OnChip “SATA Operation Mode” option to AHCI and connected my HD to the SATA1 port and my DVD drive to SATA4 port.I have made a floppy disc with the AHCI driver “AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller- x86 platform” for xp from the included mainboard CD. The only driver present although I don’t need RAID I have booted my computer with my windows XP CD in. Then pressed F6 when prompted. I then put my floppy disc in with the driver on and press "S" I then select "AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller-x86 platform" and press enter.

Dec 2, 2004I went out of town for 2 weeks, came home and my pc is acting really strange. I've been getting tons of pop-ups, to the point my computer freezes and i must restart. Not only that but it randomly reboots itself even when not being used. Also, when i go to delete files now, the file does NOT go into the recycle bin. I looked at the settings and there is no check mark next to the "do not move files into recycle bin". My BF said he had been downloading things so I figured maybe its a virus or something. I ran Nortons... nothing. Ran AVG... nothing. A friend told me it sounded like spyware so he told me to run Adaware & Spybot. Did that, found a ton of stuff. But when i retarted the pc, it wanted to start in "safe mode". I noticed that most of these pop ups are (search miracle ??) Found info that its a trojan, but i dont know. . I dont know what to do, totally computer illiterate.

The freezing occurs randomly sometimes it occurs just after startup while other times i can play a game for a few hours before it freezes.
