I'm a mostly Mac user, so bear with me for a relatively simple question. I am installing a game application on my friend's Dell Dimension 4600 with Windows XP. It has a 75 GB hard drive and it indicates that all but ~9 GB are used. This isn't enough for the game. I need to know how those 65 GB are being used. Simple on a Mac, but the PC has got me stumped. How much of that should be system files?
View 2 RepliesYou guys are my last hope. This forum looks very active, so hopefully someone knowledgable will know how to fix my problem.I'm running Windows XP and very recently installed SP2. Here are some sys specs:P4 1.5ghz, gf2 64mb Pro video card.Suddenly about a day ago, different colored blocks would randomly appear on my screen (usually pink). I thought nothing of it, but it kept getting worse. I turned on my computer one day, and my LCD monitor kept flickering. I rebooted, then it loaded windows, then my monitor kept going to power save mode, then showed the screen, etc. I rebooted again, and my screen was stuck at the black loading screen that says "Win XP Pro" with the animation (except everything was weird colors and I could tell by the sounds and such that my computer loaded windows). Rebooted again, and my monitor said "refresh rate out of range". I set my refresh rate to 60, but nothing. Now, random pixels on my screen are red/pink/different colors at random times. When I move my mouse or a window around, random pixels change colors.

Is there a program to assist technically challenged people to move into a new computer. I really need a new computer but this process scares me completely. The machine does not show any boot messages (ie running start up scripts , applying computer settings etc) at either start up or shutdown.Have tried:removing readding to the domain gp update clearing the start up processes Machine has Symantec endpoint installed and runs a weekly scan but nothing has come up.

Choose "Switch to" to activate the busy program and correct the problem".But the kicker is, there IS no other program running.Sometimes it will connect when I hit the "try Again" button offered on the error message, but sometimes not.

I'm running Xp Pro SP2, i'm unable to access the properties of MY COMPUTER, MY NETWORK. I cannot adjust the time and date of my PC and some other options in Conrol Panel. Ok, so far what i have done is. I did run SFCscannow command 2 time with my XP CD in dos prompt and it replaced all my DLL files, but problem is still the same. I have Norton antivirus, Ad-Aware SE Pro, Spybot and PcBug Doctor running in my compuer and i scanned my computer with all of them nothing detec no virus. I tried to use expand command in dos mode C:>expand f:i386 undll32.ex_c:windowssystem32 undll32.exe and it gives me error msg "Can't open output file: c:windowssystem32 undll32.exe"

I double click the 'my computer' icon and the window opens, however, no drive details appear and I see the 'waggling torch' symbol which indicates that the computer is looking for the drives. View 7 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a video file (12.2GB) from my digital video camera, made my movies and saved them, then I deleted the downloaded file but the memory (12.2GB) is still occupied on my system. After defragmenting my hard drive the report tells me the 12.2GB file is unable to be defragemented so I know the file is somewhere but I can not find the AVI file nor the folders RECYCLER or NPROTECT. View 14 Replies View Relatedtwo days ago my computer got infected with a trojan virus. it was running very very slow so i got the Norton 360, but when i tried to uninstall another version of norton from the control panel /add remove programs utility, i got the error message : �Cannot find C:WINDOWSSystem32 undll32.exe. I was finally able to get the norton removal from the symantec website, install the norton 360, get rid of the virus and other threats. but that didn't seem to help the rundll32.exe problem, i still cannot access any of the utilities in the control panel and my computer is still running very slow.
