When I click on my C Drive icon in my computer it opened another program. I deleted this program and now get a message saying it cannot find the deleted program. Does anyone know how to fix this?
View 8 RepliesI installed 'Virtual CD 5.0.6' on my desktop I installed 10 virtual drives (labelled drive G to P inclusive) I have an external hard drive (labelled 'Local Disk: L) which was turned off when i installed Virtual CD.When i turned on the external HD it did not show in My Computer (presumably because i had allocated drive L as a virtual drive I have uninstalled Virtual CD (and all 10 virtual drives) but still do not get my External HD icon showing in 'My Computer'When i go into device manager the Maxtor External HD is showing. And when i go to the 'Unplug Eject Hardware' icon on my tool bar the HD shows as a USB Mass Storage Device (but without a letter)

Anyway I rebooted my computer and it said that System 32 was deleted. I had to reinstall windows. Can someone tell me how this happened?

i deleted the desktop icon for I E/sent it to recycle bin.iwant to know how to get it back /without having to replace it with an icon with the dreaded white arrow in the bottom left corner. i have tried going to control panel-display-desktop-customize desktop/no luck.i am running windows xp home adtn/sp2.any advice would be much appreciated.

After several editing the Movie Make became slow and then stopped responding. So I'd like to restore the Movie Maker but it comes with Service Pack 2. Is there anyway the Movie Maker program alone may be deleted and reinstalled without deleting and reinstalling whole SP2 package?

I deleted the registry keys and such;manuelling removing it because the Explorer.exe would shut down every time I tried to do it the old fasion way Wink So, I was going through, and I accidentally deleted the Uninstall registry key Which has led all the installed progs to not show up in the Add/Remove Programs gui that's in Control Panel.And so, I am wondering if I have to wait until tommorow to do this, when I have the windows cd. Or if I'm able to just do some other recovery.I restarted and held down F8, and did the "Last known good configuration" thing, but it said I had to replace hal.dll.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been dealing with Java problems.I downloaded, deleted and redownloaded the Java program from Sun Microsystems or something like that and I know you don't speak highly of Wild Tangent as one time you had me delete it from a highjack list with another issue. Anyway, when I try to download the Java from Wild Tangent (MS) and install it this is the error that I get, "The Microsoft Virtual Machine you are attempting to install is a protected system component and can only be updated with a later release of the operating system or service pack." When I click OK, it says that the Installation is complete but windows doesn't detect any Java. Pogo will not work with either of the Javas that I have tried to download and I'm understanding from this error that this is the reason.

In control panel their is separate entry for quick time which cannot be deleted. tried to remove it by deleting all the entry pertaining to quick time from registry, but it simply refuses to go.

I want to totally remove the tray icon from near the volume one in the taskbar, so that it would not appear while the program is running. Have noticed the internet explorer is now displaying it's wrong icon on my program shortcuts [That is = Start = Programs = say - Legacy Family Tree = and there they are showing as a white back ground with small dots coloured, Red , blue and green? [think is green?]I have used in Power Tools the "Icon Repair" and still same icon is showing
I get a serious error report everytime I load up XP. Caused by an error when I close down. Is there any way I can find out which programme is causing the error so I can delete it / reinstall? I suspect an update to Norton Antivirus or Internet Security was the culprit.
