My girlfriend formatted her PC. She went into bios and and put CD-ROM as #1 boot device, and put in the windows XP cd to reinstall. However, her computer now keeps freezing up on the loading screen, can't get into safe mode or anything.

I tried to find a way to take a picture or something for the blue screen but it restarts a second after the blue screen appears. It just goes black. The hard drive will run continually as if it's searching for the rest of the information, but can't find it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a similar problem not too long ago where my PC would not load and I had to re-install windows. But now, If I try to press F8 it just ignores it and carrys on into loading windows normally, which causes the PC to freeze. This also happens when I try and boot from my windows setup disk. I have checked all the lights on my keyboard and they are all on and working whenever I press Caps Lock etc.As for Viruses etc. I had not downloaded anything new onto the PC since this last hapened and I have been running regular Anti-Virus scans every 2-3 days.

I also know i have some virus called trojan GE . and its in the systeme 32 file and is called ridirv , i think that is how it is spelled .. anyways. i woke up and moved the mouse and the computer was showing the screen to pick between safe mode or last known ... start windows you know. anyways i click last know configuration and it doesnt get past the windows loading screen and just restarts over and over. I tried to take out some memory and use one stick. I dont know what else to try.

After that it was finished installing Windows XP Professional, it rebooted and I got this XP loading screen. Now is the problem, it's stuck there forever with this loading thing moving and moving in an endless loop. What could be the problem? I hope it's nothing hardware related as they are all new.

The bar just stops moving.I can load Windows in Safe Mode, and I tried scanning for viruses (0) and spyware (5) - but it didn't help.I didn't install anything new and haven't changed any setting. The only thing is that I turned my computer on while there was a CD in the drive. I took it out but it didn't help.

Last night I replaced it, and when starting up my computer I was given the option to boot windows normally, in safe mode, or in my last known configuration. Any of these options take me to the black screen with the windows logo and the blue loading bar, as usual. However, I am stuck at this screen. I've never encountered this, what do you think could be the problem?

Today when i start my computer, it goes through the normal things the hard drives and stuff except for one thing different, it shows me 5 options on how to boot: start normally, safe and etc. I choose normal thinking that theres no problem with my computer. Once it goes to the window loading screen, after 5 seconds it restarts. Then it goes through the same thing over and over. I don't know what to do to fix this problem.

After that, his computer crashed and I haven't been able to get passed the screen with Windows XP Professional and the moving blue bar and then it freezes. Last Good Configuration doesn't work; it ends up at the same place and the blue bar stops also. I System Restored it to the day before he installed the program; once again, the blue bar stops moving.Could this be a hardware issue? Virus (unlikely)?

My dual boot of Ubuntu works perfectly as does safe mode. Ive had this issue for a while but it used to turn on after i rebooted it but now it only turns on occasionally. Also I'm almost certain its got nothing to do with my hardware.

It runs XP. when i start the computer, it will either shut down after the windows loading screen, shut down after the motherboard maker screen, or shut down as soon as i power up. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a gateway laptop. about 6 months ago i was listening to music through my itunes and the songs starting skipping and the comp froze. I tried to do ctrl alt delte and couldnt so i had to shutdown by just holding the power button. The computer was also really hot when this happened. Since then I have not been able to get the computer to work. It will start about and give me the option of how i would like to start (in safe mode or regular) and no matter which option i pick it will go to the loading screen for windows xp and just sit there with the progress bar going for hours or until the comptuer dies. It never gets past this point or gives me any kind of errors.

Then I put my documents, Email addresses, list of some forums and a few programs into this folder.Opened this folder and everything was in it! Burnt it onto DVD+ with Nero, made sure that the option said DVD. Then, Make Data DVD. Found the folder, then added the folder and burnt it. I have recently purchased a 40 gb hard drive to replace the smaller drive and I amd trying to install the new drive with my licensed copy of windows xp pro. The computer will not boot when the new, formatted drive is put in its place and I am having a difficult time getting to the bios to tell it to boot from the cdrom drive.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis occurs on my laptop which is on a wireless network (with a desktop computer which is not switched on but has a network adaptor fitted). It was suggested that I should remove the adaptor on the desktop computer to see if that made a difference. to my surprise it did seem to make a difference - no blue screen, I replaced the adaptor and within three minutes the blue screen on the lap top was back. Needless to say I have removed the adaptor again.No blue screen, but the screen is now freezing and task manager does not appear with ctrl/alt/del.

When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

I even tried using this http://forums.techguy.org/6669592-post28.html to get to chkdsk At boot, F12, chose CD/DVD, but still nothing, I even tried disabling boot from +HDD, FDD and LAN from the bios setup menu to see if it works and this is what I got, it just keeps going on and on unless I enable boot from +HDD

I have this strange problem:I can't see my Bios loading .The screen is totaly black untill the windows' welcome screen , and then everything is back to normal.
It happened when I updated my motherboard Bios (Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI ,Rev. 1.0) through the original vendor's Website
My dads pc was fine then all of the sudden it just restarted.And it came up to the options:restart in safe mode estart in safemode with networking estart in safe mode with networking Last known working config Normal But when he tries any of them.. None of them work The windows loading screen will come up flash a blue screen super fast (cannot read it no matter how hard i try) then go back to boot option screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI couldnt start up windows. It would hang at the windows loading screen and go no further. So I was told to try a repair-install. And thats where even more trouble has started. So I started to repair-install. During the Windows Install setup, it gets almost to the point of being completed, but gave me a blue screen error STOP message at around the "18 minutes left" mark. During "Registering components". It would do this every time at the same spot. So I searched a bit about how to solve the problem. One suggestion I found on the interwebs was to try it with only one stick of ram installed, I have four overall at 2gb. So I tried that, next time I boot up to the comp, it loads up the bios, and then goes to the black windows loading screen with the loading bar, then starts with a blue screen saying "Setup is being restarted" So I figure its restarting my windows installation since it never was completed, after that message, the screen goes black with a cursor, and stays that way forever. I immediately put all the ram back in, and no luck, same thing. I tested each individual ram stick, same thing, just goes black. So now, I can't even seem to re-install windows. Did my hard drive just crap out? Some hardware issue? Im already thinking about buying a new fresh hard drive, installing windows on there, and just moving all my files from the old hard drive over to the new one. Though that would be a pain, I really want to save my current drive! And all the data on it.
View 12 Replies View RelatedAll seemed well until trying to render video projects using Pinnacle Studio 11.1, when I would get random freezes or black screens with the pc being unresponsive, requiring power down (5 seconds holding the button) or reset.After some time on Studio related forums I bought more RAM recommended from Crucial. No difference. I bought a new video card. No difference.I defragged, updated drivers, updated bios. no difference.I then started experimenting with Prime95 torture test, Memtest86+, PassMark's Burn-In Test and Windows Memory Diagnostic with the following results:Memtest86+ completed one pass ok. Have not yet left it running for longer.Prime95 runs overnight with no errors when testing large FFT's so far. It produces the black screen crash overnight on small FFT testing but was running ok for over 2 hours to start with.

I have an external 500g hard drive connected at all times. i run mozilla with ABP running and have done a full scan using esset antivirus( which detected 2 probs and deleted them) and have run Super anti spyware full clean with clear report.
