Crashing To Black Screen Or Freezing Pc

All seemed well until trying to render video projects using Pinnacle Studio 11.1, when I would get random freezes or black screens with the pc being unresponsive, requiring power down (5 seconds holding the button) or reset.After some time on Studio related forums I bought more RAM recommended from Crucial. No difference. I bought a new video card. No difference.I defragged, updated drivers, updated bios. no difference.I then started experimenting with Prime95 torture test, Memtest86+, PassMark's Burn-In Test and Windows Memory Diagnostic with the following results:Memtest86+ completed one pass ok. Have not yet left it running for longer.Prime95 runs overnight with no errors when testing large FFT's so far. It produces the black screen crash overnight on small FFT testing but was running ok for over 2 hours to start with.

my computer has been freezing at random times. when it freezes, i push the reset button to reboot it.after that,i get a black screen before windows starts. i forgot what the msg was, but it was something like "boot disk," might have been "insert boot disk"? i'm not too sure i am running windows xp.

My computer keeps crashing and restarting itself all the time. it also keeps freezing when i am using programs. it doesnt happen with just one program, it happens when i am on the internet too. i have run AVG, spybot search and destroy and spyware blaster but there is nothing coming up as abnormal.

I had bought a Compaq Presario 5013wm a few weeks ago. The system came with Vista. I was having a lot of hardware issues with network and gfx card, so I opted to install XP. Well, XP wouldn't install because I had no floppy disks to load the raid drivers with, so I went under the BIOs and changed it from RAID to IDE. So now XP is on and everythings working... kind of. The problem I seem to be running into is some seemingly random crashes. From what I've noticed, they only happen while playing a game and, very rarely, when playing music. Sometimes I can play for hours and other times, just a few minutes. The graphics card is a Geforce 7300GS and it has the latest drivers along with the audio. Checked the temp and it seems to stay between 64-67C while playing a game, which I hear is normal for my card. The BIOs is still in IDE mode.. not sure if thats an issue.. can't turn it to RAID without a floppy drive -__-;. Upon thinking of it, I doubt that's the issue as the few times I was able to play before uninstalling vista, I recall the same freeze.

This started since I started overclocking my graphics card. I thought might be it but a new symptom occured.First, it started freezing and crashing randomly and I thought it would pass if I stopped overclocking. I took out my graphics card and hoped it would stop.It got worse. What happened was I tried to turn on my computer and it crashed while starting up everytime. I had a bunch of recovery discs so I used them because they worked everytime in the past. Bad idea. I started the recovery process and as soon as it started, my computer crashed. I turned my comp back on but it said there was no OS installed. I tried reformatting and my computer crashed in the middle of that too.At this point I'm really pissed at my computer. I can't reformat. I can't recover. I can't even start up my computer up to the desktop.

it all started a few weeks ago with crashing, which i was told after looking at event logs that it was graphic card related, so i reinstalled drives and wulah! but then immediatly i started getting freezes again, then i kept getting crashes and such and now im getting this error Error code 1000007f, parameter1 00000008, parameter2 bab50d70, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000.i seem to always crash or freeze when playing a game, it is undescriminate to which game i dont know what to do and hope this can be solved without reformating,also i heard it could be related to RAM, which mine is designed to be overclocked to 1150MHZ so should i reset it back to stock bus speeds?

I have just formated and reinstalled XP Pro, updated and loaded my programs.(Have installed only the drivers for the Creative Audigy 2).The system randomly freezes or justs shuts down. Mostly when I am working with images but by no means exclusively so.Sometimes instead of freezing/rebooting the graphics processor stops responding and will restart itself, often after only a few minutes. Again I don't know why this is happening or how to solve the problem.I had the same problem last month and followed advice given by crjdriver (in another thread on these forums) but the problems have reappeared.I've downloaded and run CCleaner and run the issues function which seems to have helped but hasn't fixed the problem.

My computer went from running fine to taking 5 min to start windows (this is before getting to desktop) then started doing a blue screen windows stop because of my nvi drivers which i updated/uninstalled/reinstalled and it works fine as long as world of warcraft isnt on or i dont leave the computer on all day... ive never had these problems before and its very aggrivating. i didnt download anything but i did let my friend use it for 2 days when i was away and thats when i seemed to notice the problems.

My computer often becomes "Non-responsive", freezes, crashes to desktop and blacks out. This occurs mainly when using the "Flight Simulator" program when one of the above prevents me from continuing. Today it occured while compiling a slideshow in Windows Movie Maker. I have just spent $40 on PCdoc, hoping that it might fix it, but the problem is still there.

Sometimes it won't start in the first place - when I go to Windows Task Manager it states NOT RESPONDING and I have to end task (which often doesn't work immediately). Other times it can work fine then just freezes and won't do anything. When I have chosen to end task (using Task Manager) I have sometimes had messages saying things aren't responding. These flick up then disappear very quickly. Two that I've managed to read are DDEserver and ccSvcHst.This hasn't starting happening in conjuction with anything else I've done with the PC.

I formatted my hd and reinstalled windows. However, after I finished installing all the drivers the system was running pretty sluggish. Also I have no been able to get an anti-virus program running. Everytime I try to install one, after I reset the comp, it freezes after the welcome screen. Actually I can move the mouse around but it won't finish loading up. I ended up reformating again, I installed all the drivers, it ran fine for a little bit, I created a restore point, I installed a virus scan, and same happened again. Also, the system restore kept turning off after every restart. Now i'm in safe mode and can't even undo the virus scan installation. I don't get any kind of errors, it just won't work. Previously the computer ran in this exact setup for about 6 months w/ no problems.

Dell Inspiron 1501. Running windows xp SP2 .512 Megs of R.A.M. I am trying to repair this computer for a friend. At first it would not boot at all (I think I fixed that it will boot now) But after it runs for a few minutes it goes to a blue screen with vertical lines. There is no error message just the lines. Sometimes they are one color, sometimes different colors. Does anyone know how I can diagnose what is going on. This is the first time I encountered this

i think im postin in the right place. I have a system that i built about a month ago that keeps crashing and i dont know why. It runs XP. when i start the computer, it will either shut down after the windows loading screen, shut down after the motherboard maker screen, or shut down as soon as i power up. I buit it, but this is the first time ive done anything like this before, and i dont know much about the workings of the insides yet.

its my previously-formatted HP Pavilion dv5201tx! The problem is as the title above. I can go into safe mode. I've used system restore twice. And in Documents and Settings folder I noticed it has:
Administrator
Administrator.computer description name
Administrator.computer description name.000
username1
username2
Is it creating more user folders? At some point Administrator.computer description name.000 wasn't there. Corrupted registry hive? I'm not sure! Restarted many times, used Last known good configuration, and it's still black after the boot screen. Please help!

This occurs on my laptop which is on a wireless network (with a desktop computer which is not switched on but has a network adaptor fitted). It was suggested that I should remove the adaptor on the desktop computer to see if that made a difference. to my surprise it did seem to make a difference - no blue screen, I replaced the adaptor and within three minutes the blue screen on the lap top was back. Needless to say I have removed the adaptor again.No blue screen, but the screen is now freezing and task manager does not appear with ctrl/alt/del.

My laptop has started to freeze at times,then the screen would blackout then appear with a black screen with a blue box inthe middle giving BOOT DEVICE OPTIONS Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM/DVD, Floppy Disk Drive, LAN Boot it froze blacked out and now keeps going to this option page ,where as before if you turn off then on it rectified itself.

when I turned on my computer and got the blue screen of death, so I restarted my PC. Then a black screen came up saying "Windows could not start beacuse the following file is missing or corrupt : windowssystem32configsystem."
You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.
Any ideas?

i get this error when i tried to open up my computer, first the windows xp loading screen works fine, then after that the screen just goes black and stays like that forever. this happened when i tried to uninstall a USB Bluetooth driver and it was requested to restart my pc so i did, and after that restart i cant get in no more, the screen just goes black after the windows xp load screen. im wondering how can i fix this problem? please help me guys... thank you.. and o yeah one more thing.. when i tried it on safe mode it went to the welcome screen but after that when i try to move my cursor i didnt move at all then i restart my pc again and the whole thing happens once more

friend whose computer has crashed the screen had frozen. He could do nothing except reboot it using the power button but on rebooting, there was a 'no signal' message on a black screen. We have checked the monitor connections (the monitor works when connected to his second computer) and even replaced the video card but of course this made no difference (no signal) We've taken out the HD and installed it on his second system. Does this mean that the most likely cause now is the motherboard/bios or is there something wrong in our approach/deductions

My computer screen freezes up after a while, then turns into a blank light blue screen and then into a black screen. I have used regcure, PCMedkit, and PC Doc Pro I have also tried some of the online help for a fee but nothing seem to work. Lately when trying to reboot I got a blank red screen. I'm using xp pro and a Nvida GeForce 9400GT GRAPHICS CARD.

The start of my problem is that I was receiving an error 'cannot initialize lsass.exe service'.After repairing XP SP2, the following is displayed every time that I boot:SAFE Mode - black screen with 'safe mode' in bottom corners of screen Windows Mode - blue screen.The mouse is responding.There are no icons.There is no text (except for 'safe mode' as above)CTRL/ALT/DEL does not display task manager.CTRL/ESCAPE does not display anything.Clicking on various parts of thescreen has no effect.I have replaced Explorer.exe from c:i386

my computer would give me a few problems while booting up. I would start the computer, it would run through BIOS, run through the Windows loading screen, and after that it would run the CHKDSK to make sure my disks are fine. CHKDSK doesn't work, it just freezes right before checking the disks, so I restart and generally it will boot up. Most of the time it would boot up perfectly, but rarely would it go to the xp loading screen and then flicker as if it as going to go to the windows login screen but wouldn't. The screen would just stay black and I'd have to restart.
Next time, generally it would work perfect.So this brings me to the current day. After the windows xp loading screen, it goes black. The computer is on, but I don't see any activity for the HDD via the LED. SO i go into safe mode, i finally get CHKDSK to run, I had to really mess with some stuff to get that working. Windows says the volume is fine, and the only way I can boot my PC is in safe mode, but even that will freeze sometimes while loading some of the files.

my Toshiba satellite p20 is freezing up occasionally and sometimes im getting the dreaded blue screen and return to boot up. I have an external 500g hard drive connected at all times. i run mozilla with ABP running and have done a full scan using esset antivirus( which detected 2 probs and deleted them) and have run Super anti spyware full clean with clear report.

I recently tried to install my SBC Yahoo software. The install hung about 80% of the way through. I rebooted and now my system won't get past the Windows 2000 splash screen. I have:
1. Started in Safe Mode
-This worked. I was able to uninstall the software and reboot - same result.
2. Tried re-installing in Safe Mode thinking that if a .dll got corrupted this would fix it.
-Install succeeded, but booting in normal mode still freezes on the splash screen.
3. Tried booting to Last Known Good Config
-Unfortunately, did this after logging on in Safe Mode so it probably wiped out the LKGC prior to the initial freeze........

it all started when I ran Nod32 antivirus. I ran it because I had some viruses on my computer that I wanted to get rid of. After the scan there were 180 some detected objects that were quarantined or deleted. So then I restart my computer and after the windows xp logo there is just a black screen with no cursor. And after awhile the computer will just restart and try booting up again. I tried going into safe mode and safe mode with command prompt but I still get a black screen with no cursor. The last known good configuration doesn't work either. I'm pretty frustrated because I did nothing wrong. I am also having a feeling that nod32 might have quarantined some infected files that are essential for Windows Xp to boot. I also do not have any windows xp disks with me how to fix this?
