i dont kno why but my computer just doesnt work anymore, everytime i turn it on and it gets to the windows xp loading screen the computer restarts just as its about to continue on to the log in screen. i think it maybe my hard drive failed on me,

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on my computer, everything seems to be going fine... the manufacturer's screen comes up, then the screen that shows Windows is loading, then it kindof gets stuck between the loading screen and the welcome screen. It just goes black. The hard drive will run continually as if it's searching for the rest of the information, but can't find it.

But now, If I try to press F8 it just ignores it and carrys on into loading windows normally, which causes the PC to freeze. This also happens when I try and boot from my windows setup disk. I have checked all the lights on my keyboard and they are all on and working whenever I press Caps Lock etc.As for Viruses etc. I had not downloaded anything new onto the PC since this last hapened and I have been running regular Anti-Virus scans every 2-3 days.

I also know i have some virus called trojan GE . and its in the systeme 32 file and is called ridirv , i think that is how it is spelled .. anyways. i woke up and moved the mouse and the computer was showing the screen to pick between safe mode or last known ... start windows you know. anyways i click last know configuration and it doesnt get past the windows loading screen and just restarts over and over. I tried to take out some memory and use one stick. I dont know what else to try.

After that it was finished installing Windows XP Professional, it rebooted and I got this XP loading screen. Now is the problem, it's stuck there forever with this loading thing moving and moving in an endless loop. What could be the problem? I hope it's nothing hardware related as they are all new.

The bar just stops moving.I can load Windows in Safe Mode, and I tried scanning for viruses (0) and spyware (5) - but it didn't help.I didn't install anything new and haven't changed any setting. The only thing is that I turned my computer on while there was a CD in the drive. I took it out but it didn't help.

Last night I replaced it, and when starting up my computer I was given the option to boot windows normally, in safe mode, or in my last known configuration. Any of these options take me to the black screen with the windows logo and the blue loading bar, as usual. However, I am stuck at this screen. Today when i start my computer, it goes through the normal things the hard drives and stuff except for one thing different, it shows me 5 options on how to boot: start normally, safe and etc. I choose normal thinking that theres no problem with my computer. Once it goes to the window loading screen, after 5 seconds it restarts. Then it goes through the same thing over and over. I don't know what to do to fix this problem.

After that, his computer crashed and I haven't been able to get passed the screen with Windows XP Professional and the moving blue bar and then it freezes. Last Good Configuration doesn't work; it ends up at the same place and the blue bar stops also. My dual boot of Ubuntu works perfectly as does safe mode. Ive had this issue for a while but it used to turn on after i rebooted it but now it only turns on occasionally. It runs XP. when i start the computer, it will either shut down after the windows loading screen, shut down after the motherboard maker screen, or shut down as soon as i power up. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a gateway laptop. about 6 months ago i was listening to music through my itunes and the songs starting skipping and the comp froze. I tried to do ctrl alt delte and couldnt so i had to shutdown by just holding the power button. The computer was also really hot when this happened. Since then I have not been able to get the computer to work. It will start about and give me the option of how i would like to start (in safe mode or regular) and no matter which option i pick it will go to the loading screen for windows xp and just sit there with the progress bar going for hours or until the comptuer dies. It never gets past this point or gives me any kind of errors.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen you turn it on the lights come on and you can hear the hard drive for a sec or two but nothing comes up on the screen, I put in the recovery disk and the cd-rom you can hear it start up and try to run it but nothing comes up on the screen at all. Its like you hear the cd-rom cause it is louder when it first starts up and then like it stops. when you open it you can see the disk had been spinning. anyway again nothing, absolutely nothing on the screen. I took the hard drive out and hooked it to my desktop computer with a usb hardware that you can hook up internal harddrives externally and see whats on them. I have used it many times before except always on a destop harddrive where you have a place to hook up the ac power. On the laptop drive it doesn't have a place to hook up the power so I just plugged in the usb and you could here the hard drive click and try to start but didn't. I thought it was probably the harddrive so I got a brand new one, same kind the travelstar. I put it in the laptop and then put the recovery disk in and you could hear the cd-rom start up but still nothing on the screen. I even plugged in a regular monitor to the laptop and nothing comes up on its screen either. Did I buy the hard drive for nothing? is the laptop just shot? or is there something I have to do to the hard drive before I put in in and try the recovery disk? Someone please give me a suggestion. The guy that owns it says they thought lighning hit it but most peopled say that. I don't know if they left it plugged in or what but like I said when you turn it on the lights come on and the cd-rom must work so it is getting power.

View 13 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening for awhile now, but this is really bothering me now as I have been typing an essay that is due tomorrow and everytime I open it, especially when I scroll down or any movement of the page, the screeen becomes very fuzzy and blurry. I have XP PRO, and this only happens in Word, not while surfing the web. I know it has something to do with my cpu as I have tried 3 various monitors that I have and the problem still persits. The lines on teh screeen are of a reddish color, and it becomes hard to view the letters.

I have to turn off the power back at the surge protector to keep it from starting itself back up. Apparently, I pulled an "automatic wakeup switch" but do not know what or how to turn it back off. Now when my wife hollers for me to get off the computer and start the dishes, I can't just power down and leave the room. I have to wait for windows to close and the computer to shut off, then crawl behind the desk and turn off the power source before I can get away.

I keep Zonealarm updated and running as well as MS anti-spyware and Spyware Blaster.I recently deleted all scheduling in AVG, but it didn't help. It's been doing this for a while, but at first I thought it was just me not shutting the system off. The last couple of times I watched to make sure the computer had turned off. I've also been disabling my internet connection before shutdown. It's not My imagination - but what could it be?
