i am having two different problems. 1. When i close an application both of my monitors go black briefly and when they go back on in a cpl of seconds the fonts change 2.When I have multiple applications open i often get--- ie has encountered an error... an has to close. i do not no how to copy the full error message. i tried to copy etc with no louck.
i turn on my desktop computer and i log on and open up my usual programmes then after a while the screen flashes black and back to normal screen , couple flashes later it goes black and the green power button flashes i have to turn it off and on again for it to restart but the problem is still the same.
The offending program AcroRd32.exe (acrobat reader) hangs the logoff process if the user has a pdf open inside a webpage.Previously, I used a logoff script to "kill.exe" the AcroRd32.exe which would then allow the machine to finish the logoff process. In the recent past, a patch (not sure which one).. has changed the logoff process to start after all the users applications have closed.I was investigating using the "Auto Endtask" registry options to killthe application, but this does not seem to function.
These symptons and problem have started within the past week, without warning: My laptop is now particularly slow, the mouse lags, as does the internet - especially videos and music starts. Also, there is a "service.exe" application error that occurs a split second before the computer turns off, so on the "windows is shutting down" screen. Consequently I'm an unable to read the error code. I presume the services.exe error and the slowing down are related.
I turn on my computer. It is loading a bit but then, everything turns black and it stays ''Press F2 for Setup Utility or F12 for Boot Setup'' or something. I press F2 and F12, but nothing happends at all. I do not get in to my computer. What should I do?
When I run applications such as new games (swat 4, Dawn of war, AOE3, Silkroad, or play DVDs, my computer stars... "Blinking, that is, it turns black and then turns on again. For example, I click my pc, then monotor becomes black, and then turns on again, with the my pc window open. When I restart, an error message appear. Its always the 2 messages "Windows has recovereds from a serious error"-and-"Wuauclt.exe has encontered an error and must shut down"
My friends computer turns on for 5 seconds and turns off and during that 5 seconds preiod the computer makes a weird noise like beping sound. His computer is Dell and its XP iam affarid i dont have much of his computers specs. If any one can suggest how he could solve it.
i dont kno why but my computer just doesnt work anymore, everytime i turn it on and it gets to the windows xp loading screen the computer restarts just as its about to continue on to the log in screen. i think it maybe my hard drive failed on me,
When you turn it on the lights come on and you can hear the hard drive for a sec or two but nothing comes up on the screen, I put in the recovery disk and the cd-rom you can hear it start up and try to run it but nothing comes up on the screen at all. Its like you hear the cd-rom cause it is louder when it first starts up and then like it stops. when you open it you can see the disk had been spinning. anyway again nothing, absolutely nothing on the screen. I took the hard drive out and hooked it to my desktop computer with a usb hardware that you can hook up internal harddrives externally and see whats on them. I have used it many times before except always on a destop harddrive where you have a place to hook up the ac power. On the laptop drive it doesn't have a place to hook up the power so I just plugged in the usb and you could here the hard drive click and try to start but didn't. I thought it was probably the harddrive so I got a brand new one, same kind the travelstar. I put it in the laptop and then put the recovery disk in and you could hear the cd-rom start up but still nothing on the screen. I even plugged in a regular monitor to the laptop and nothing comes up on its screen either. Did I buy the hard drive for nothing? is the laptop just shot? or is there something I have to do to the hard drive before I put in in and try the recovery disk? Someone please give me a suggestion. The guy that owns it says they thought lighning hit it but most peopled say that. I don't know if they left it plugged in or what but like I said when you turn it on the lights come on and the cd-rom must work so it is getting power.
I have some issues with my computer. for some reason . Whenever i move or ersize a window it scrambles, when i open my start menu it imprints on my desktop. When im browsing websites it scrambles when i scroll . and some parts of my windows occasionally turn pink.
This has been happening for awhile now, but this is really bothering me now as I have been typing an essay that is due tomorrow and everytime I open it, especially when I scroll down or any movement of the page, the screeen becomes very fuzzy and blurry. I have XP PRO, and this only happens in Word, not while surfing the web. I know it has something to do with my cpu as I have tried 3 various monitors that I have and the problem still persits. The lines on teh screeen are of a reddish color, and it becomes hard to view the letters.
my computer crashes ,screen turns off and the sound stop workin and u cant do anything ,and the computer stays like that and it dont restart by it self, this usally happens when i play games plz help me its very frustrating when i crashes.
My laptop used to darken the screen automatically when I closed it, but for some reason it has stopped doing this. To my knowledge I haven't done anything to change this. I never told it to stop, and I don't remember ever seeing anything to do this anyway. Can someone tell me how to make my laptop do this again?
My laptop (a Dell D620) has developed an annoying issue.Ever since I connected a projector into the spare VGA output on it the desktop icons move whenever I close the lid down during use or before its completely shut down. The projector was running at 1024x768 as an extended desktop, and I have since checked all the settings in my display properties and NVidia settings, but nothing seems to be wrong there.
Some programs (currently hl.exe is doing it :/) are just not closing right. I end them with task manager and they dissappear from everywhere but Task manager, where they stay no matter how many times i click end process. I tried through command prompt, it said it terminated the process, but it just stays in the task manager process list. I also tried through EndItAll, which told me it didn't have permission to kill the program.
its my previously-formatted HP Pavilion dv5201tx! The problem is as the title above. I can go into safe mode. I've used system restore twice. And in Documents and Settings folder I noticed it has:
Administrator Administrator.computer description name Administrator.computer description name.000 username1 username2
Is it creating more user folders? At some point Administrator.computer description name.000 wasn't there. Corrupted registry hive? I'm not sure! Restarted many times, used Last known good configuration, and it's still black after the boot screen. Please help!
My laptop has started to freeze at times, then the screen would blackout then appear with a black screen with a blue box inthe middle giving BOOT DEVICE OPTIONS Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM/DVD, Floppy Disk Drive, LAN Boot it froze blacked out and now keeps going to this option page ,where as before if you turn off then on it rectified itself.
when I turned on my computer and got the blue screen of death, so I restarted my PC. Then a black screen came up saying "Windows could not start beacuse the following file is missing or corrupt : windowssystem32configsystem."
You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.
i get this error when i tried to open up my computer, first the windows xp loading screen works fine, then after that the screen just goes black and stays like that forever. this happened when i tried to uninstall a USB Bluetooth driver and it was requested to restart my pc so i did, and after that restart i cant get in no more, the screen just goes black after the windows xp load screen. im wondering how can i fix this problem? please help me guys... thank you.. and o yeah one more thing.. when i tried it on safe mode it went to the welcome screen but after that when i try to move my cursor i didnt move at all then i restart my pc again and the whole thing happens once more
friend whose computer has crashed the screen had frozen. He could do nothing except reboot it using the power button but on rebooting, there was a 'no signal' message on a black screen. We have checked the monitor connections (the monitor works when connected to his second computer) and even replaced the video card but of course this made no difference (no signal) We've taken out the HD and installed it on his second system. Does this mean that the most likely cause now is the motherboard/bios or is there something wrong in our approach/deductions
My computer screen freezes up after a while, then turns into a blank light blue screen and then into a black screen. I have used regcure, PCMedkit, and PC Doc Pro I have also tried some of the online help for a fee but nothing seem to work. Lately when trying to reboot I got a blank red screen. I'm using xp pro and a Nvida GeForce 9400GT GRAPHICS CARD.
I have this strange problem:I can't see my Bios loading .The screen is totaly black untill the windows' welcome screen , and then everything is back to normal. It happened when I updated my motherboard Bios (Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI ,Rev. 1.0) through the original vendor's Website
The start of my problem is that I was receiving an error 'cannot initialize lsass.exe service'.After repairing XP SP2, the following is displayed every time that I boot:SAFE Mode - black screen with 'safe mode' in bottom corners of screen Windows Mode - blue screen. The mouse is responding. There are no icons. There is no text (except for 'safe mode' as above)CTRL/ALT/DEL does not display task manager.CTRL/ESCAPE does not display anything.Clicking on various parts of thescreen has no effect.I have replaced Explorer.exe from c:i386
my computer would give me a few problems while booting up. I would start the computer, it would run through BIOS, run through the Windows loading screen, and after that it would run the CHKDSK to make sure my disks are fine. CHKDSK doesn't work, it just freezes right before checking the disks, so I restart and generally it will boot up. Most of the time it would boot up perfectly, but rarely would it go to the xp loading screen and then flicker as if it as going to go to the windows login screen but wouldn't. The screen would just stay black and I'd have to restart.
Next time, generally it would work perfect. So this brings me to the current day. After the windows xp loading screen, it goes black. The computer is on, but I don't see any activity for the HDD via the LED. SO i go into safe mode, i finally get CHKDSK to run, I had to really mess with some stuff to get that working. Windows says the volume is fine, and the only way I can boot my PC is in safe mode, but even that will freeze sometimes while loading some of the files.
it all started when I ran Nod32 antivirus. I ran it because I had some viruses on my computer that I wanted to get rid of. After the scan there were 180 some detected objects that were quarantined or deleted. So then I restart my computer and after the windows xp logo there is just a black screen with no cursor. And after awhile the computer will just restart and try booting up again. I tried going into safe mode and safe mode with command prompt but I still get a black screen with no cursor. The last known good configuration doesn't work either. I'm pretty frustrated because I did nothing wrong. I am also having a feeling that nod32 might have quarantined some infected files that are essential for Windows Xp to boot. I also do not have any windows xp disks with me how to fix this?
whenever i start my dell laptop inspiron 6000 after the dell load a black screen appears with a white loading bar appears which loads for about 10 minutes and then the windows xp proffesional sp2 loads i had recently reinstalled windows from a cd can you please tell me how to get rid of this black loading screen
Was working fine this morning but this afternoon - Upon startup everything runs fine until after the windows splash screen everything goes black and the only thing visable is a cursor, but nothing to click, cannot ctrl=alt=del, cannot right click. Cannot enter safe mode at all, last good configuration doesn't work either. Computer is still running, fan whirring, lights flashing. Fan has been cleaned and power supply checked, no change. Cannot get into anything to run explorer or virus check. She is running Windows XP SP3. I'm unsure of when sp3 was installed. I understand this may be an issue, along with video and graphics drivers, display settings, corrupt registry, flat CMOS battery or loose internal connections.
I start up my laptop with the screen closed. When I open the screen I see the XP login screen for a second and then the computer goes black. I can't do anything else.I have Windows XP Home with the service pack 2 (I regret installing it).I never had any problems before. If you know how to fix this let me know.
when I first start the computer, windows hangs between the black windows logo screen and the first blue screen that says "windows is starting". I have to hit the reset button, it goes to the dos screen with the safe mode, etc. choices. I choose "start using last known good configuration" and I'm good to go. If I turn the computer off during the day and turn it back on, It works fine. It only hangs on the first start of the day.
when i take a screenshot and paste it to a word document, it comes out black. I do not know where the problem is, word or printscrn? how can i avoid that issue?
The machine does the usual, POST etc, does all its checks and then goes to boot from the HDD(HDD is indicated in BIOS etc). At this very stage (just before the WinXP splash Screen) the Screen (LCD) just goes black and does not ever recover. There is no error messages and the HDD LED blinks a couple more times then does nothing. LCD power light stays on green. I have to either turn it off via power button or do a restart with Ctrl,Alt + Del.
I have disconnected all peripherals except Video Card, HDD and still no luck. The only reason why i left the Video Card was that there is no onboard video and i had no other Video cards to replace it. I cant even boot into safe mode.I manage to resolve the problem by doing a WinXP repair over the top but what i really want to know is, was it a corrupt/damaged MBR that was causing this problem or was it a corrupt driver? I have read a few articles about nVidia cards giving black screens but none seem to be similiar to mine.
