I have XP Pro and just after the XP window comes up the screen goes blank and a message appears on the montitor saying that the digital signal is not there. I've tried to access safe mode and the computer ignores F8 and goes on to the XP logo. The system is about 5 yrs old.

When my bios boot sequence is set to boot from CD, a 'press any key to boot from disk' sign should come up during boot-up.
It doesn't (it always used to when I set CD drive, not HD as first boot). I have not got the bios HD set as first boot, but have set it to boot from CD as first boot. When I boot up it goes straight to my HD / XP OS !
I need to boot from disk and I can't work out why the bios boot sequence I have set and saved is being ignored. My bios is not buggy and has never caused any problems until this issue. I have a MSI K9N Platinum mobo.
ok im not sure what happened but i recently built this computer about 1 and half months ago and today i shut it off with the power button and then turned off the power switch to the wall and then i went to turn it back on and now i can see the cpu fan running and everything back nothing shows up on the screen it just says no signal on my acer monitor then turns off

Recently, when playing CDs or listening to any sound, the sound has been sounding as if it comes through water! It is like listening to a voice talking whilst gargling.I am not able to find a reason, neither am I able to find a way to correct this. I am not too 'good' with computers and I do not have a CD for Sound Max with which I could re-install it if I were to remove the programme.

I lost my connection on one of the computers (my son's) and tried to resolve through Linksys. View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, my boyfriend a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4334 that is running XP Media Center 2002. This morning he woke up and it wouldn't finish booting. It POSTs, it sees the hard drive and the operating system. But as soon as the XP logo appears, the computer reboots. we turned off automatic reboot and got the following error:

We cannot boot into safe mode, last known good configuration, cds, or USB, and we don't have a floppy drive.
we have tried an XP installation cd, a media center installation cd, and hirens bootcd, and it wont boot into any of them.
as above, pentium 4 windoiws xp black screen on startup cannot see bios menu or get to safe mode. restarts on loading the xp bar

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Seagate Barracuda ATA IV model ST380021A. Don't know if it's SATA or not. I have a SOYO SY-P4VTP M/B. After I do a clean/new install on a formatted drive, (I even installed the SATA drivers that came w/ the mobo just in case) the computer freezes on reboot after the initial installation where it says "Setup will continue after reboot" or something like that. @ the bootscreen with the logo, the bluish bar scrolls a couple of times and freezes. Does anyone know why? I tried installing at a friends house and it worked fine so I know it's not a harddrive error but I place it in mines and it doesn't work so I create a new install and same problem.. I know it's not a temp issue since it's running < 100 F. THis is a genuine copy of XP. Just in case I used my friends.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if someone could help me with a little problem I have. When I install service pack 2 or anything past sp2, it does something with my video card. Normally everything runs fine until I try to play one of my PC games (for instance Half Life 2) then either the computer freezes up, or the monitor goes black and stops receiving a signal from the video card. I know that it's not a hardware issue because running off of a fresh windows install with no updates and sp1 everything's fine, but sp2 or later causes problems with my video card, I've tried updating everything (windows, hardware etc....) nothing works except running it with no updates and sp1, and as you know you cannot run much without sp2 at least. Any help would be appreciated, I've also attached a .txt with my specs from dxdiag.

Everything went well as expected except for one thing.When I turn on my computer, the acer logo appears then a page appears again which asks me to choose whether to start windows xp or repair it using USB. I have to always click the start windows xp before the windows logo appears and everyhting in windows is alright. I dont know how to fix this so that after the acer logo appears, windows logo comes next then desktop.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had been away from my computer for about an hour and when i returned the screen was black and nothing would change it so hit the restart button. When the computer started up, I first saw the usual blue dell logo-screen, however, the next screen was the windows 98 startup logo-screen. The computer then entered DOS mode and at the top of the screen it says Microsoft Windows 98. This problem persists every time i start the computer. I only have 1 primary partion and i installed XP on it from a clean install by using a win98 bootdisk to format and running winnt from the i386 folder of the xp cd. When i try to enter SAFE MODE the computer goes to the Win 98 start-up logo screen again and enters DOS again. I know that all my files are still on the HDD because i can navigate through them. All i really want to do is somehow save some files that are on te HDD so i can just format and reinstall XP.

my computer seems to keep diconecting from the net, wellwhen i say it disconnects, i mean that when i first put the comp on its fine then after a few mins i cant get any pages up the little tv screens dissappear from the task bar and any browser iuse says page cannot be found if i go into my network settings it says i am connected and if i rebooteverything is fine again, imrunning windows xp and using telewest cable modem even tryed ispconnection test and it says it is fine, stepson is running wireless of the same cable modem and has no problems.

Device Manager shows the yellow exclamation mark by the WinTV 88x DVB-T Hybrid Tuner/Demod. It says code 31,Windows was unable to install the drivers for this device. In driver file details the driver is there but doesn't have a tick by it like the others & it says its not digitally signed.I haven't uninstalled or reinstalled any drivers for it & i haven't used HCWCLEAR because i unfamiliar with it,i'd prefer to get some more info before i attempt anything or mess anything up.
After I uninstalled some Dell printer software from my computer, my Cannon camera and Samsung scanner do not work. I have deleted the devices and connected them again but when XP tries to install the drivers I get this error: "Windows cannot load the device drivers for the new hardware. The Driver may be corrupt or missing. (Code 39)".I have reinstalled SP2 then SP3 but that did not help.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have about a 100 collection employees that send confidential information (credit cards and other information) to third party vendors for payments. I want to encrypt all emails going out to these vendors. In order to do that, the employees need digital signatures.
My questions:
(1) I'm assuming that I will need a 128-bit encryption certificate server for this. Is there a site that someone can point me to so that I can investigate this further?
(2) Would it be possible to set up one digital ID for all employees or must it be separate?
(3) I do have an Exchange 2003 server. If I need to assign digital ID's to the 100 employees, is there a script that I can use to get this done quicker?

It has a yellow triangle against the digital camera entry and under properties has" Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38) If I install new hardware it sees tha camera and I get new hardware found but then give the message not installed properly, any ideas out there?
