Unable To Boot Giving Blank Screen?

computer that won't boot up. I have an E-Machines T2825 running Windows XP Home Ed. that crashed after loading a wireless router and System Mechanic program on it. We bought another E-Machines computer (T6212) I networked the 2 with a Linksys Wireless - G Broadband Router. After that I loaded System Mechanic5 on both computers. After running a scan on the T2825, it told me that the hard drive needed to be de-fragged so I did it. Then, few days later, the T2825 started having problems when running programs on it. It would freeze up and the only way to shut it down was to disconnect the main power. After plugging it back in and turning the power on, it froze up just trying to open IE6.

I have a Toshiba laptop (Satellite) that started freezing up, then we would reboot and everything was fine for awhile. My wife rebooted and got a blue screen that seemed to be running a fix program??? It worked for a few hours, however now upon reboot all I get is a blank screen with a flashing bar in the upper left corner.

My laptop has started to freeze at times,then the screen would blackout then appear with a black screen with a blue box inthe middle giving BOOT DEVICE OPTIONS Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM/DVD, Floppy Disk Drive, LAN Boot it froze blacked out and now keeps going to this option page ,where as before if you turn off then on it rectified itself.

When i turn on,first Windows screen appears,then a blue screen blinks,then hp screen,then a blank page with cursor on the top left,then a screen with the message"we apologise for the inconvinience but Windows did not start successfully.there was a hardware or software problem.I tried to run it in Safe mode, Windows normally,last known configuration but no luck......Then someone suggested to Get into the Recovery Console by making a Recovery CD with ISO image but the machine is not responding to any of it.Is it with CD/DVD ROM drive or any major hardware problem???...I ran a self hard drive test and it seemed fine

I have been having a boot up issue on my compaq presario sr1630nx. When I turn on the computer now it takes me to the boot screen where I press F2 and the little dash up in the corner flashes for a second or two...disapears...and then nothing...black screen. I then have to turn the computer off manually but when I turn the computer on again and it goes to the boot screen and I press F2 again and it takes me to the default start windows normally prompt.
I hit enter and then it boots up like normal and everything is fine with the world and my computer runs just fine until the next time I turn it off and have to turn it on again. Same routine at every boot. Was wondering if the brown out may have corrupted my boot.ini file somehow and if so how to fix it. My computer was on when the power spiked twice in a two minute period then was off for a couple of hours so it could be a hardware issue as well. I have Windows xp home edition

I am getting a blank screen with a white pointer when I boot up my machine. And when I try to boot up safe mode it does the same thing only with safe mode written in the four corners. Could someone please tell me what is going on.

I have windows xp prof running and now when i turn on the computer it boots up, goes to the logo, and then the screen goes blank. The hard drive is still working, and i can go into safemode (f8) but every time i try to startup normally the screen just goes blank, the monitor says there is no signal. I have no clue how to go about resolving this.

I have a computer I have built and upgraded several times for my step-son. The issue I am having is after startup or a reboot the computer goes through post and then I get a blank screen for 10-15 seconds. Then I get a serrated white load bar that runs the length of the screen at the bottom it takes about 3-5 minutes to load. Then I get the Windows load screen which takes about 10-15 seconds and then I get the account icons and everything is fine. I am not sure what this white load bar is from and it is really slowing down the boot times. The computer has gone through an upgrade and the issue still persists, which I expected. I upgraded the motherboard, processor, and video card.

I am using a custom built PC with retail bought Win XP SP2 installed.The PC is about 3 months old now and has run perfectly so far with 2 hard drives and 1 install of XP on the master drive (S-ATA). I redecorated the house and this resulted in the PC being unplugged for about 2 weeks. Havin just plugged it back in and tried to start it, I am getting through the POST stage and then I just get a blank screen with a flashing line at the top left. This used to happen with boot up but disappeared after about five seconds. This one just stays flshing forever.I was wondering if anyone would have any advice for me. If I haven't given any required details please ask and I will post them ASAP.

When I turn on my lap top, Acer Travelmate 2355LC, there are a couple of quiet clicks, then nothing. If left for about 10 minutes, it starts up normaly. Sometimes it starts normally from the beginning.It has an Intel Celron M360 processor (1.4 GHz, 400 MHz FSB, 1MB L2 cache) 40 BG HDD 256MB DDR, I've cleaned everything up. Should I try and repair? I would like to avoid reformatting if possible.

A friend of mine called me to his house to take a look at his gateway. All I know is that it runs Windows XP.He states that AVG antivirus prompted him to restart his computer once the virus definitions update completed. Once he restarted, a blank screen appeared and said, "Invalid Boot Disk, please insert in drive a:"Problem is, there is no disks in any drive.

When I turn my computer on it goes to the blue hp logo and then to a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the top left corner. If I hit f8 when booting it gives me 2 options...f1 to setup and f2 to resume. It won't let me go into safe mode or anything. I have tried booting from the xp cd, but nothing happens. I have tried replacing the battery and that hasn't done anything. It started when trying to open a program, the computer just went blank. Just wanted to give a solution for an issue that I had on a Dell Optiplex GX270, where it was having problems hanging when a couple of peripheral USB items were plugged in. After I had installed an HP printer, I plugged in an 8Gb thumb drive. It would hang for a very long time until I finally had to reboot. When it went through the short Dell setup screen, it just went black with a flashing underline in the top left corner instead of going to the first Windows startup screen. The funny thing is that I would unplug the HP printer's USB cable while the computer was still powered, and it would immediately start Windows. Through several different test cycles I found that A) Leaving the printer USB cable plugged in during a restart brought up the blank screen w/flashing underscore. B) Not connecting the printer USB cable during a restart brought Windows up properly. That told me that there was a problem with BIOS. I went to the Dell website and flashed my BIOS with the latest update for my computer. This is my first post on this site, I know that there have been posts on this topic becfore, however mine is different than the rest of the posts. In the other posts,this has occured on a modified computer, but when it happened to me, it was my unmodded computer. So heres what happened. I boot up, and after the HP screen, instead of going to the windows loading screen, I get a message with alot of text, but the main point was that "a failure was imenent", F1 to continue, F2 to enter setup. So i hit F1 to continue, and after a minute of a blank screen and the blinking text dash, the DISK BOOT FAIlURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK message. But I have never modified my coputer, and never used a setup disk before on this machine. BTW:I tried resetting BIOS, but to no avail.

I've been having this problem with my Dell Lattitude D505 Laptop where I put it on standby, and then about 10 seconds after taking it off standby, I get a blue error screen telling me the system crashed. It mentions on the screen something about BIOS memory. Looking through some other posts, I have seen mention of a correlation between this screen and BIOS. does anyone think that this BIOS memory thing is in fact the problem? How do I resolve anything that deals with this BIOS memory? The help section on my computer just defines what BIOS is, it doesn't state where I can find it on my comp.

My computer keeps giving me this error when I start it up Stop: c0000218 Unknown Hard Error Unknown Hard Error I can boot it into safe mode, but I'm unable to really do anything with it. When I try to go on the internet I get directed to a Yahoo search of whatever I entered into the address bar... and any links clicked bring me to random pages. I also noticed that the address of the link in the search isn't showing up in the status bar.

I have been trying to install Windows XP as a second OS as I already have Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Unfortunately, after I select a partition, format it, and reboot the system stalls on the screen after the BIOS that has something to do with a list of devices and such. After 10 or so seconds a few characters and letters go blank randomly on the page. I rebooted and selected my cd drive as the boot device and accidentally didn't press a button in time to boot and a bunch of highlighted numbers were thrown all over the screen and a random smiley face on one of the lines.

after installing a lot of dekstop themes,my windows log on/offf/shut down/boot screen"welcome screen".....all changed to another...the problem now is ..i need to set up a new win xp package ...this boot screens conflicts with setting up the new one as there is a problem in the kernel..it doesn't identify it as a microsoft file...got my problem??!!!...please help me to restore my win xp default boot screen..log off...extra so i can set up my new windows normally..
i was facing the problem of not being able to connect to the internet for trojan removals reasons...after sick of not having a solution..i decided to reformatt or set up a new windows...now i can'tdo this either....

Im currently in the process of bringing my PC back from the brink. St present I am unable to boot because a system32/hal.dll is not present. Before this I was unable to boot without seeing a blue screen showing a lack of memory. I have been having problems for a few weeks now. At first just a little slow down and the occassional crash, but it has recently escalated to large scale slow down and fatal errors causing the pc to reboot. From the performances menu in Task Manager I can see large large CPU usage peaks with the processor running at 100% consistantly with no programs running. Simil;arly, on startup the PF usage is settled around 200MB but gradually increases over a matter of minutes until it is 2 or 3 GB+. This is usually about when the system declares a fatal error and reboots itself.
The only process that appears to be taking processor power at these points is svchost, that will usually run between 0-1%. I have been aprehensive to end this though as I know it to be a core process. I also had similar problems with lsass.exe. I researched and figured it could be the Welchia Worm or MSBLAST.D virus but have found no trace with any anti virus software. I tried the suggested treatments regardless with no success. A couple of days ago the problems got to the point where no prgrams would open and the system rebooted every few minutes. I managed to rectify this by reinstalling windows, but it appears to have been short lived. Now, after a fatal error the PC has been unable to reboot.

The basics: XP Professional Boot up screen, right before the windows loading screen, or direct after the F8 Menu if you hit "Start Windows Normally..." it will just lock up, no HDD activity, blank screen. now BSOD, nothing.
All 3 safe mods work fine.
Ran chkdsk /r in recovery.
Ran proper fixboot procedure.
Went into safe mode and checked the event viewer.
The only concerning message i got was: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AmdK8
Fips
nod32drv
Formatting really isnt an issue since i can back up anything i need through safe mode. However its just the fact that the Windows gremlin has struck me again and i must defeat it once more.
I highly doubt this is a hardware issue as it is more of a driver/software issue.any help?

I was playing a game and I rebooted my computer. When i went to start it it went to the a blank blue screen before the account screen in the beginning of XP. I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system. It's fine loading bios and till window xp logo..
when it starting to load the welcome window screen.. (which it didnt reach the welcome screen at all)
It just stuck at the black screen.. so i try to run in safe mode, weirdly it able to open.. okie
i tried to reformat... but it doesnt seems to work, it happens the same thing..
b4 this happened.. it all started one day.. i let my computer to download some personal stuff.. then computer got hanged, and i just shut the computer just like that..so now, i cant reach the welcome screen at all..

i'm having to boot into windows xp. on power up sytem goes through the windows xp splash screen (with progress bar) and then instead of login prompt it goes just into the blue screen with moveable mouse pointer arrow.
issue seems to be similar to:

symptoms just before issue - was not able to run use some system features - utility to turn off the display, utility to bring up battery info - everything was working fine before this
what i've tried:
boot to Last Known Good Configuration - resulting in the same blue screen
boot to Safe Mode / Safe Mode with networking / Safe Mode with comman prompt - resulting in blank (black) screen with "Safe Mode" in the corners and moveable mouse test the hardware (hard drive / memory etc.) via build in PC Doctor - all seems to be working
i am able to use bootable XP CD from other machine to get into Recovery Console
i am able to boot to simple live XP using BartPE-XPE usb key and access the hard drive

I've messed up something to do with Internet Explorer. First of all, when I open IE all I get is a blank page. No error message or anything. I try to go to a site and the address bar stays at "http:///". I tried repairing my Windows 2000 installation and it didn't help at all. Now it's reverted back to IE5 and Outlook Express 5. So I tried to reinstall IE6 by downloading the installation file and running it. I am trying to cleanup a machine running Windows 2000 (not sure what release).I've run AntiVir, Spybot, Adaware, and CWShredder, but am still experiencig problems. For example, I can't change the default home URL from 'about:blank'. AntiVir found many archieves (probably more than 30) with 'infected file' that couldn't be deleted. Most of them appeared to be .dat files, but one was a .cab file (polmx2), which I suspect is part of the problem. I'm also guessing there may be hidden files becuase I couldn't 'find' them in Windows.

I live 4 states away from my little brother, and his computer is in dire straights. When we boot it up, he gets a blank desktop, no icons, no taskbar, no start menu. If we attempt to access programs via task manager (ctrl alt del) then we get the "Task manager has been disabled by the administrator. I need to know where to start so we can begin taking care of this mess. We can get into safe mode, and task manager will let us in, but I'm lost after that step. I've had him run a couple of cracks that are supposed to fix the registry, but they dont help when we reboot into normal windows. Someone lend me a hand and let me know what we need to do.
