Blue Screen - Stop: C0000218/ Giving Error At Every Startup
Nov 22, 2008
My computer keeps giving me this error when I start it up Stop: c0000218 Unknown Hard Error Unknown Hard Error I can boot it into safe mode, but I'm unable to really do anything with it. When I try to go on the internet I get directed to a Yahoo search of whatever I entered into the address bar... and any links clicked bring me to random pages. I also noticed that the address of the link in the search isn't showing up in the status bar.
When I start PC, it automatically takes me to the startup options part to reboot in safe mode, safe mode w/ networking, safemode w/ prompt, last known good config, & normal startup. Getting Stop c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file) SystemRootSystem32Config
I'm gettting a blue screen when i try to start my laptop with Windows XP media. It's saying the registry cannot load the hive (file): /SystemRootSystem32ConfigSECURITY or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. I'm guessing I need the windows xp media reinstallation disk, but I can't seem to find it.
one of my friend is having a problem with his Fujitsu Siemens Laptop (Win XP - Dot know the SP), whenever the laptop starts it shows the blue screen and restarts itself, so there is jo way you can login to the win xp, the following msg is displayed on the blue screen. the error is in Polish Language but i guess you can understand the error by the path it is giving
STOP: c0000218 {AWARIA PLIKU REJESTRU} NIE JEST MODLIWE ZAEADOWNIE PREZ REJESTR GAE-ZI (PLIKU): SystemRootSystem32ConfigSAM
I'm getting a BSOD with the following Stop Error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OF_EQUAL *** STOP:0x000000D1(0x00000018,0x00000002,0x00000000, 0xF72BD25F) iastor.sys - Adress F72BD25F base at F72AE000 DateStamp 42b2df42 This happens every time I start up and also I am unable to boot into Safe Mode as it is getting hung on whatever file is after Mup.sys.My plan was to go into safe mode and update iastor.sys to a newer version but I cant. I also find it stange that this file is an issue as I only have a single hard drive and I was under the impression that this file had something to do with RAID.
2 months ago I ordered system from Cyberpower PC and it was shipped a week later.Set it all up,formatted Windows XP Home Edition and got it running. Shortly there after, I started blue screening and it seemed RAM related, so I swapped the sticks and it seemed I would only BSOD with one of the sticks, so I called the company, shipped it back, and got a new stick.
Then I started to BSOD again with the error message of IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL and then 0x0000000A (0x0000F78A, 0x0000002, 0x0000001, 0x806E4A8F), and this particular error would only occur while I was playing World of Warcraft. So first I pulled the new stick of RAM and tried playing... and everything went fine for a day, and then I BSOD'd again, same error
My granddaughter downloaded some kind of game on my computer yesterday she said that while she was playing a box came up and the screen went blue well it has been blue ever since the error Disable or uninstall any anitvirus disk defragmentation or back utilities Check your hard drive configuation and check for updated drivers Run chksk/f to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer techincal info stop:oxooooo24(oxoo190203,0x81364008 ,oxcooo102 ,oxooooooo)
I've been having this problem with my Dell Lattitude D505 Laptop where I put it on standby, and then about 10 seconds after taking it off standby, I get a blue error screen telling me the system crashed. It mentions on the screen something about BIOS memory. Looking through some other posts, I have seen mention of a correlation between this screen and BIOS. does anyone think that this BIOS memory thing is in fact the problem? How do I resolve anything that deals with this BIOS memory? The help section on my computer just defines what BIOS is, it doesn't state where I can find it on my comp.
I did not add any new memory to my systeme. however, I did remove my current memory to access the inside of my laptop. The fan wire had come loose so I reconnected. I fixed that problem only to find out the problem with the registry. I have chose the load last known configuration that worked correctly but it still gives me the little blue pop up screen with the error, then the restart.
I tried to use my windows xp os disk to try and repair it but it wont read the disc before the blue screen comes back up. I'm thinking of buying a Laptop To IDE Hard Drive Adapter. So, I could at least format my hard drive. I'm not sure if this would be a good idea. I went to the microsoft webpage that deals with this issue but I can not seem to find one to fix my problem.
Im am getting STOP - c0000218 Registry file falure the registry cannon load the hive. systemroot/system32/config/security or its log or alternative. It is corrupt, absent , or not writeable. but whatever I do it I end up with the blue page with the eror message on it. I went into the bios setings and made sure that it could be bootable with cd but all in vain.
My mom was on my computer this afternoon and there was a power surge. When the power came back on, the computer would not come back on. When I booted my computer up this evening, everything was fine until midway into the startup sequence and I closed Yahoo! Messenger. Right after I did that I got the BSOD (BAD_POOL_HEADER) and the Stop errors at 0x00000019, (0x00000020, 0xE2B9E8F0, 0xE2B9E918, 0x0C050801). After restart, I tried to load HJT and I got an Explorer.EXE Application Error: The instruction at 0x7c91142e referenced memory at 0x00650072. The memory could not be read.
About my BSOD problem w/ my Windows 2000 Professional 2Pk operating system. Computer will not startup properly then goes to blue screen
I've been looking for help online and speaking to people but everyone is down on me for still using Windows 2000 Professional. Am willing to upgrade to XP if I can figure out the current problem
laptop was infected with the Antivirus 2009 after surfing the web and I removed it using malwarebytes program. Then shortly after the laptop would show a blue screen, displaying "KERNEL STACK INPAGE ERROR" and then reboot. After the reboot, my laptop seemed to run fine, I downloaded AVG antivirus software to check if there was a boot sector virus (?) and after running the laptop for about 30 minutes, it showed the blue screen again and reboots. This kept on occuring.
Then I tried to reformat the laptop. The first time I tried to format it as FAT32, it got to about 60% before rebooting. The second time I managed to get past the formatting (FAT32 [quick])and I got onto the part of installing windows. About 20 minutes into the installation. A stop error appeared "STOP C0000218 Unknown Hard Error". Could the hard disk be corrupt
I have a IMB Thinkpad Laptop running Windows XP that keeps giving me the same blue screen STOP message error. THis happens at random times and at random intervals. The only software installed recently was a gmail notifier and I have already uninstalled that and the blue screen continues to appear. The message is: IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and recommends I disable BIOS caching and shadowing. The stop message is: ***STOP:0x0000000A (0xFF1711F2, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804D9B64)
Man, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this? Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) This is one of them, but there another one with KMODE that I can't seem to remember. Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose. Also, I hate to say this, but I'm not using a legit windows copy sp1, but I have updated to sp2.
Four or five months ago I installed a new HD in my Dell Inpiron 700m laptop. I used Acronis True Image, as I've done previously with my Latitude. Initially, I had some trouble, because apparantly one or two drivers were missing. I found a discussion about this online and ran through the steps to fix the problem and everything seemed fine. A couple days after the installation I received the blue stop error screen for the first time. Restarted the computer and hadn't had it appear again until last week. The other night, it was coming up every five minutes, shutting down the computer.
When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get
I even tried using this http://forums.techguy.org/6669592-post28.html to get to chkdsk At boot, F12, chose CD/DVD, but still nothing, I even tried disabling boot from +HDD, FDD and LAN from the bios setup menu to see if it works and this is what I got, it just keeps going on and on unless I enable boot from +HDD
I booted up my computer and got an error message saying "STOP: C0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):System RootSystem32ConfigDEFAULT or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable" I tried rebooting in safe mode, to no avail. Now I can't even get it to come back to the other "STOP" error screen because every time I boot up my computer a window pops up labeled "Dell PC Restore by Symantec" and states The Dell system recovery tool has detected an unsupported change in your master boot record. The tool cannot run at this time."
I get this almost everyday, I even restored the laptop to how it was out of box and it keeps crashing. Here is the error.MULTIPLE_COMPLETE_REQUESTS ***STOP: 0x00000044 (0x862df368, 0x00000D60, 0x00000000,0x00000000)
I have seen a similar problem posted previously on this forum. But after reading it i think this is a different problem, so, here goes: I recently bought a new graphic card: Radeon all-in-wonder x1800xl. Installed it on a clean system (did a reformat before i installed). The problem occurs after usually 30-60 minutes of gaming (so far with oblivion, black & white 2). The game freezes for about 30 sec and then goes into blue-screen mode.
The message is as follows: Kernel-Data-inpage-error stop error screen then there are a lot of numbers etc. I have sometimes noticed a slight change in fan noise prior to freeze (speeding up) After reebot everything's back to normal.........
my laptop stopped working. After dwld some Excel service pack the pc refused to restart. The message is quite ominous: Stop error c0000218 and the hive affected is system root/system32/config/default It's impossible to recover the last working config or start in safe mode or do anything. It keeps looping back to the blue screen with the stop error. The pc does not recognize the hard drive, it does not have a recovery cd.
I'm in the middle of a basic networking lab and one of my VM's crashed. As our host, we use Windows XP. For virtualization we use VMware Workstation. I had a problem installing the Internet Printing Client for my lab. I got an error saying that there wasn't enough hard drive space. I then shut down my VM and added another hard drive. Upon startup I was greeted with: STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} i did this:Removing the virtual HDD I added before the problems started. Restarting the VM. Restarting the host machine. Trying the VM on another machine. Booting to .iso and using the repair console with the command chkdsk C: /r.
My laptop has started to freeze at times, then the screen would blackout then appear with a black screen with a blue box inthe middle giving BOOT DEVICE OPTIONS Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM/DVD, Floppy Disk Drive, LAN Boot it froze blacked out and now keeps going to this option page ,where as before if you turn off then on it rectified itself.
I have a problem J, I cant get XP to boot up. My pc blue screens mid way through the loading windows screen and then re-sets. I had a GPU hardware failure, after windows automatic installed some software a month or so ago (not sure what it installed as I wasnt using the pc at the time). My pc would not post and the mbos gave a GPU beep error message. I have just brought a new GPU and now I can get to the pc to part load. Tried using my recovery cd, but that only gets half way and then blue screens with a STOP 0x000000c2 error. I think its a driver issue but as Im unable to get into the recovery to troubleshoot further, im not sure what I can do. The only thing I can do is rig up my pc hd to my laptop as a slave, does anyone know any software that can check an OS that not being used on a hd? Is there anything else I can try? I have flashed the BIOS to the latest version.
I recently built a new Gaming PC and im frequently having blue screen and the system crashes. The windows XP pro PC crashes almost twice a day, and there is no special scenario to make so that it crashes. the PC crashed while playing games, browsing the internet, or chating...
I put in My CD and it goes through the first blue screen (the one where is asks if you want to press f2 to do install drivers via A drive etc) and when it gets to "Setup is Starting up windows" (this is before all the HD formating and partitioning) I get the blue screen. it does not have much info on it all it says is:Stop: 0x0000007B (0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
Toshiba Laptop My buddy just came over and has his Toshiba Laptop and it is having a blue screen stop error. Wanna see if we can get some help.He has windows 2000.you turn it on and it goes through every thing and then you put your password in and get to the desk top and all that is ok, when you click to get on the internet it would flash a blue screen and then shutdown. I went into system and advanced and unchecked auto reboot so now it doesn't shut down but you get the blue screen and you can't go anywhere when it comes up.
