C0000218 Registry File Failure: Little Blue Pop Up Screen With The Error

I did not add any new memory to my systeme. however, I did remove my current memory to access the inside of my laptop. The fan wire had come loose so I reconnected. I fixed that problem only to find out the problem with the registry. I have chose the load last known configuration that worked correctly but it still gives me the little blue pop up screen with the error, then the restart.
I tried to use my windows xp os disk to try and repair it but it wont read the disc before the blue screen comes back up. I'm thinking of buying a Laptop To IDE Hard Drive Adapter. So, I could at least format my hard drive. I'm not sure if this would be a good idea. I went to the microsoft webpage that deals with this issue but I can not seem to find one to fix my problem.

I'm gettting a blue screen when i try to start my laptop with Windows XP media. It's saying the registry cannot load the hive (file): /SystemRootSystem32ConfigSECURITY or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. I'm guessing I need the windows xp media reinstallation disk, but I can't seem to find it.

when my PC boots it up it goes to a black screen giving options such as safe mode etc. All of these options end up with the computer going to a bluescreen and the following message: STOP: c0000218 (Registry File Failure) The registry cannot load the hive (file): SystemRootSystem32ConfigSOFTWARE It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. So I moved my hard drive to another comp and transfered all my memory onto an external hard drive so I could reboot windows. I found an xp cd and tried to reboot from ide cd-rom and it wouldnt work. i ran a diagnostics on my ide and this error came up "primary ide: 0 st380011a- fail code 7"

Im am getting STOP - c0000218 Registry file falure the registry cannon load the hive. systemroot/system32/config/security or its log or alternative. It is corrupt, absent , or not writeable. but whatever I do it I end up with the blue page with the eror message on it. I went into the bios setings and made sure that it could be bootable with cd but all in vain.

i got on it, and it started loading the splash screen with windows xp on but then this blue screen error came on.

Ok, using this help website, http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how...air_a_stop.htm I am at the harder method, but encountered some problems.md tmp(nothing really happened not sure if anything was supposed to) copy c:windowssystem32configsystem c:window mpsystem.bak (copied fine) copy c:windowssystem32config software c:windowmpsoftware.bak (it says the file can not be copied). Do I go on with the rest of the tutorial, or where exactly do I go from here? Is there any possibility that I will not have to reformat and get my old computer back?

I'm in the process of repair/recovery of my machine (Dell Inspiron 8500 with Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2). I'm following exactly the instructions in:

The "software" file (which is the file that the original blue screen error message says is "corrupt, absent or not writable") will not copy to the new tmp directory to create the backup. My understanding from the article is that this backup file (software.bak) will later be used to restore correct settings for various software applications. Ive managed to get hold of a xp pro disk. Also i cant get it to read the disk when i boot up. Ive changed the boot up order in bios settings and still it does not read the cd it just takes me back to the same blue screen where it dumps the physical memory then starts over and over again. Do i need to delete the existing xp first?

When I try to go on the internet I get directed to a Yahoo search of whatever I entered into the address bar... and any links clicked bring me to random pages. I tried to load windows xp in my pc but during installation (of course many times i tried to install) blue screen saying your computer is having problem like that. I checked the memory with diagnostic tool it said no error and also motherboard no error setupdd.sys at one time and another time stop: 0x000008e blue screen errors came during setup end Moreover i pressed skip for some files beining with letter w during setup in dos mode, but successfully installed. will it give any error after installation finishes?

one of my friend is having a problem with his Fujitsu Siemens Laptop (Win XP - Dot know the SP), whenever the laptop starts it shows the blue screen and restarts itself, so there is jo way you can login to the win xp, the following msg is displayed on the blue screen. the error is in Polish Language but i guess you can understand the error by the path it is giving

I followed the link from other threads to the microsoft site explaining repairing the registry using the installation disk. I got the computer from my brother in law and do not know where the installation disks are. Also it was factory installed and the microsoft instructions say they do not work with OEM software. Is there a way to fix this without the disk? If I find the disk Dell supplied will it work since it it was not a XP install disk?

I have a dell dimension E310 with windows xp, and everytime I start my computer I get a blue screen, that says "c0000218 {Registry File Failure}The registry cannot load the hive (file):System Root System32Confg SAM or its log or alternate.It is corrupt, absent, or not writable" then "beginning dump of physical memory: physical memory dump complete." I am experiencing a registry (hive) file failure which does not allow me to load Windows. Whenever I try to boot in safe mode, or any mode, I get a blue screen that reads:i did some searching on this forum and found a thread that mentioned taking the drive out of the problem computer and slaving it into a different machine to repair the registry. I do have another computer, so this would be an option for me although may be a bit too advanced for my expertise or lack thereof. But I have a BlacX hard drive docking station (basically an external hard drive reader)

About 2-3 weeks ago my computer started playing up, i switched it on and it came up with disk boot failure, so i restarted the computer and it started up fine.. a few days later i got a blue screen message, didn't have enough time to read it, ever since the computer starts up to disk boot failure and i restart and it works, i do that every day to use it. Today however i restarted and it was freezing, wouldn't let me into BIOS setup, or anything, but after a few restarts it worked again.. about 10minutes ago the computer came up with a blue screen as i left the room, i didn't have enough time to see all of it but i got, 0x000000f4 (0x00000003 couldnt get the rest, and something about physical memory dump. i had to restart again about 3 or 4 times before it worked, and when i got through the computer froze.

my windows xp was going fine for over 2 yrs but from few days i neglected shutting down pc in safe way,i usually press the button of UPS. when i was playing a game it crashed and some blue screen came out

then i formatted and installed xp and was going fine again after few days when i was playing a game suddenly it hanged and different colours came and restarded suddenly from then onwards as it continues and before opening desktop where it says microsoft xp some yellow lines come and then it stops formatted and installed xp many times but the same problem comes also many pixels come when it says intel on the screen

Ok this error will only pop up only about 3/4 of the time I attempt to go into Windows. Right after the windows boot screen finishes I'll get a blue screen of death for windows xp, and it says a bunch of numbers and stuff then at the bottom there is a file called tbcwdm.sys. This just started happening in windows, and I can't write the code down because the screen will dissapear in a matter of seconds and reboot the computer.

I had an ELECTRIC POWER FAILURE during the start of Windows 2000 Professional this morning. After it, when I try to restart my computer, it begins to load Windows, but I receive the famous blue screen. The error code is:

I tried with F8 (last valid configuration, etc of the list), but all give the same blue screen. My repair floppy disk is from september 2007. After it, I installed a second HD for files backup and needed to put drivers for Windows recognize the bigger HD size. All worked fine until the power failure this morning. Antivirus and scan are up to date. Since I installed the driver for the bigger size HD, I cannot more boot through the floppy disk, because it not recognizes the HD. Is there anything I can do to not reinstall Windows?

My computer is not booting up. A while back while using my computer a blue screen popped up saying that windows encountered an error and that it would shut down to prevent damage. When that happened I simply restarted my computer and everything was fine. This happened one or two times later and everything was fine. Today it happened again and when I went to restart it it the blue screen popped up immediately after that. On the third time I went to restart it the computer just said boot failure and did nothing. Every time I try to restart it does the same thing. It will let me press f2 for the start up settings but when I press f8 for safe mode it does nothing.

Everytime i boot my comp i get the same things happening. I let windows load and get a BSOD just b4 i get to my account logon. This week my registry became corrupted and after fixing that had another blue screen problem the next day. I ran chkdsk in recovery console and the computer is working, but I get the following messages on start up: SymSPort.exe had to stop, and notification.dll failed to load properly. What do I need to do, is there a way to check for any other problems?
