View 6 RepliesI am having a heck of a time with this. I am trying to install Windows XP on a Lenovo R60e that has a SATA hard drive. I cannot for the life of me find the driver. I cannot seem to find anything resembling this driver on Lenovo's "Driver Matrix" or anywhere else on their site. Is there a generic one out there that anyone knows of? I want to slipstream this into an XP install, but I can't do it without the driver.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to install the si3112 driver I get an Install key fail error followed by an install driver error. I have tried to install it off both a floppy and the nvidia cd and both give me the same errors.
I have no trouble installing the si3112r driver (the raid) version' but I want to use it as my start-up drive. I have a GA-K8N PRO mobo and the drive is a WD3200ks. If I can't get it to run where can I download a replacement dirver from --with-out haveing to download a huge driver package?
I was wondering if it makes any sense to buy and install a SATA 300 controller to work with two WD SATA 300 drives. I kind of doubt I will achieve 300mb buffer to host transfers with only SATA 150 motherboard.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using a new WD 250GB SATA drive model WD2500AAJS taken out of a new and unused DTVPAL DVR recorder unit by Direct TV as a secondary drive in my Hp Pavillion a100y desktop. Whenever I hook it up, the drive causes the error message Primary Slave Hard Disk Error, Press F1 to enter setup, but then goes to a black screen that just says WAIT, and freezes there. I have an older 500GB WD that works fine hooked up there. The WD tech told me to jump pins 7 and 8 to slow down the speed of the drive to make it compatible with the older computer, but no difference. Is there something done to drives like this one which make them unusable in a PC?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've got this old mobo Abit VT7. I want to install XP on it. However, the XP disc doesn't recognize SATA hard drives. So I downloaded official SATA driver from the Abit website http://tinyurl.com/kua5qz and tries to slipstream my XP disc following the instructions set forth here http://tinyurl.com/37anvn . I am not too clear how to incorporate the drivers from the official drivers, but Nlite seems to be able to find the drivers once I pointed it to the top unzipped driver directory, and I selected the XP folder for it. However, the newly created XP disc still fails to recognize the SATA hard drives. Alternatively, I believe I could have a boot floppy which would load the drivers in, then I launch the setup in the XP installation CD via command line. But I don't know how to create a boot disc which has those SATA drivers in.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to install farstone virtual drive on a computer it reboots during the driver installation phase. After the reboot at the desktop windows says new hardware found and asks to install it. It's the offending driver, fcdabios. Windows installs it and says it was installed successfully. Then the computer spontaneously reboots again. It seems to start alright back at the desktop but again reboots after 2 minutes. The only cure is to do a restore from a norton ghost image. I sent a debug file to farstone but haven't received a reply yet.

The dimension xpst550 has a 32mb diamond viper v770 with nividia tnt. Everything went ok.I set up the monitor using the driver that windows 2000 found and recommended. No problems.... The system and the monitor worked fine.I went to Nvidia's web site and downloaded the latest drivers for this.. I had a couple of hang ups where Windows would shut down the program, in Microsoft Money. Web pages were no problem. So after a few more incidents of hanging up and shutting down the money program I uninstalled the Nvidia downloaded driver.. No more problems after setting up the moniter size etc again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWindows XP and recently had to reinstall due to failures. Yesterday, I clicked on the volume control icon and it said it couldn't do anything because we didn't have an audio driver! It just worked the day before! Then the icon disappeared. The audio is gray in the sound control panel, so we can't do a thing. We have the Windows XP CD, but I don't want to mess with anything, especially after having it reinstalled a short while ago. Is there a place I can download a new driver for this system?

All without Windows security hackles raising and saying, hey you changed something so you need to re-activate. View 11 Replies View RelatedIt only started happening recently...but then I've only had my system for around 10 days. I've done some searching around and its seems like there is no one solution for every computer. It could be the PSU, RAM or cooling. With a new system, which seems more likely, or could it possibly be a software/driver issue? Thanks.

I have somehow misread your entire post. I thought you had a sound card installed. If it is the AC'97 codec here is the> download page for it. I believe it is the third one down:

Even after a fresh re-install of XP the sound driver install causes the machine to crash. No matter what I do. I have most of the files loaded except for the multimedia controller. each time I try to update it , the machine crashes. Not sure if it matters, all high priority updates are done
