System Not Find Sound Driver
Mar 5, 2006Right i had a fried hard drive so i took it to a local store and got them to put a new one on and load windows, great. Problem is i have no sound, for whatever reason windowns xp hasn't found it. Is there a universal driver or something i can install?

All without Windows security hackles raising and saying, hey you changed something so you need to re-activate. Jul 3, 2006My "Multimedia audio controller" is popping up as new hardware found. It's sitting in device manager with yellow I have an onboard sound card.When i try to install the drivers from my motherboard CD, it asks for my windows CD. Then just says it cannot find the files.When i try to point it to the drivers that i downloaded it does the same.No matter what it asks for the windows CD, then says it cannot find the file "Ksuser.dll" which is defenatly there inside a .cab file.

I have a Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device. I tried reinstalling the driver from the cd and the control panel still shows no driver installed. One time I tried using the resource cd and the sounds worked in both speakers.

Nov 13, 2007Even after a fresh re-install of XP the sound driver install causes the machine to crash. No matter what I do. I have most of the files loaded except for the multimedia controller. each time I try to update it , the machine crashes.Not sure if it matters, all high priority updates are done

I right-click My computer, go to properties, hardware, device manager, then there are 2 yellow circles with exclamation points in them under Multimedia Audio Controller (Intel 82801AA ac'91 Audio Controller), and Unknown Device (Microsoft MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device). I tried to reinstall them, but it says There was a problem installing this hardware: Intel 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller. An error occured during the installation of the device. The data is invalid.

New Installation - No Sound Driver?
Feb 23, 2009Because I am poor, a friend of mine gave me a brand new machine with a blank HD. I have this morning installed a genuine fresh copy of XP Home which appears to have gone on OK (I have 20 years PC experience, but little of it messing around with new installs).
I got my internet working, anti virus etc, but when I checked the device manager to see why I was not getting sound.
I've done a screen cap of device manager (but I don't know how to place it on here) - If anyone wants it e mailing I can of course do that.
By the look of it, the sound card is integral to the motherboard but the device manager is not identifying it by name. If I am identify / find drivers on the net,
