Reinstalling a sound driver for onboard sound from a pre-packaged XP, I've tried for days to locate my driver with no success.
I recently upgraded my OS to WinXP Pro from WinME, and there is no sound. I right-click My computer, go to properties, hardware, device manager, then there are 2 yellow circles with exclamation points in them under Multimedia Audio Controller (Intel 82801AA ac'91 Audio Controller), and Unknown Device (Microsoft MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device). I tried to reinstall them, but it says There was a problem installing this hardware: Intel 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller. An error occured during the installation of the device. The data is invalid.

But first the normal details: Quote: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600) 2.65 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 FX. I have also tried removing the card, starting up the pc, rebooting, and then returning the card with no luck. I've tried uninstalling the drivers entirely but they always seem to reappear when I reboot
View 13 Replies View RelatedI work at a school district here in FL and we have come across a strange issue. When someone logs into windows, sometimes our kix script will not run and the network drives will not map no matter how many times we log off and log back in. The only solution we can find is disabling the IEEE 802.1x setting on the authentication tab of the local area connection. It doesn't seem to be happening with all of our systems and seems to be sporadic. As soon as we disable this setting and log back in the drives will map. Any idea why this is happening and anyone have a solution? Our PC's are running Windows XP Pro w/SP2 and our servers are Win 2k3.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reinstalling Windows XP Home edition on my PC I have found that a driver for the Network Card could not be found (see attached file containing pics). In Device Manager the network card does not appear under network adapters but instead under other devices as an Ethernet Controller with a yellow question mark and exclaimation point. Unfortunately, Windows does not appear to have a driver and I can't connect to the internet to search for one.I tried installing DriverGuide which says the device is an "82551 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Controller" made by Intel.

I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP and now I am having two issues. The issues are Integrated Network Adapter not working and no sound from the Integrated Sound Card/Adapter. I emailed Intel about the Network Adapter problem. My Integrated Sound Card/Adapter comes from a company called SoundMax. I would like to know where to download the Drivers for these two devices.
