Network Card Driver Not Found
Apr 7, 2008
After reinstalling Windows XP Home edition on my PC I have found that a driver for the Network Card could not be found (see attached file containing pics). In Device Manager the network card does not appear under network adapters but instead under other devices as an Ethernet Controller with a yellow question mark and exclaimation point. Unfortunately, Windows does not appear to have a driver and I can't connect to the internet to search for one.I tried installing DriverGuide which says the device is an "82551 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Controller" made by Intel.

I have a Gateway 7422GX which as a Mobility Radeon 9550. I repaired windows using the cd because I restarted my computer and it was either going to take 7min+ to boot, or just wasn't going to. I got stuck at the windows splash screen. I'm using windows professional. Whenever I try to install any of the drivers, I get the same error message: Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit.

During the day, my internet connection died, actually, my NIC did sort of got error 10.I tried to uninstall and re-install it, and it seems to go back but then I get the error code 10.I installed a new Belkin USB NIC and it installed fine but also returns error code 10. I installed a Hawking USB NIC and it installed Ok, but returns error 10. I installed an old 802.11b SohoWare PCI card, and it installs fine, but returns error 10. I installed a Marvell Yukon 88E8052 PCI-E ASF Gigabit Ethernet Controller and it installed fine, just still get the error 10. I un-installed each NIC that didn't work and re-booted before installing the next. This all sounds like a virus that can attack any network device, as any form of network device fails on error 10.If I didn't have a few computers laying around,I couldn't make this post.I also checked all services between the computers, networking settings, group policies, BIOS settings, etc. to look for something different on the bum machine, but nothing is obvious that caused the one machine to allow a NIC to be installed, but then cannot be used. (I'm running XP-Pro, SP2)

I have an ethernet port that is physically connected to my motherboard. For some reason, when I formatted my main drive, and re-installed Windows XP, it will not detect it no matter what I do. I tried searching for new hardware through Windows as well, but nothing seems to be working. Luckily, I have an ethernet card laying around that I wasn't using, so that's how I'm connecting to the internet right now. A little bit about my system: I am connected to a Linksys WRT4G router, which is connected to my cable modem. When I plugged in the ethernet card that I had laying around, it found it right away and is working fine. I'm just that kind of person that feels if it isn't working how it's supposed to work I get all cranky. My type of motherboard is listed in my sig.

I have an unused Belkin PCI network card installed in my desktop XP pc. I don't want to see it listed at all under the Network Adapter listing in Device Manager. I understand that I can easily disable it, and have done that by right clicking on the drop down list and selecting Disable. I have also selected Uninstall but of course every time the pc is booted up again it finds the device and it reappears listed within the Network Connections again. Is there any way short of actually physically removing the card from the pc to actually uninstall the card "for good" and prevent it from showing up in Device Manager and Network Connections again?

I am trying to set up a home network. However after installing a Belkin F5D7000 Wireless Desktop Network Card I get the following error: PCI Simple Communications Controller Error.. Search For Drivers. I have the installation disk and I have tried manually pointing the Hardware Wizard to the file, but it will still not pick up the drivers. I have the latest drivers from Belkin - no joy. This is the second card I have tried and after installing into another computer it worked fine. However the machine I am trying to install onto is older. Pentium III 450 on a B7XAN Motherboard. O/S Windows xp pro.

Currently I have only 16 colors and 800x600 desktop area. NT is using the "Default Monitor" and I did not boot in VGA mode. My video card is AccelGraphics Venus DGX4 Rev 2.1A . I tried to find a driver and what I did find was for Win98. I tried that and it started asking for files - vbrun300.dll and I could find that, then it asked for threed.vbx - is this going to work even if I get all the required files? Is there a NT driver for this video card?

I just bought a new notebook and reformated the harddrive wiping everything off it. Though now after re-installing XP I can’t find display drivers that will work. The problem is that I don’t have the CD to install them from and have tried the ATI website but it was no good. I have ATI Radeon Mobility technology, what do I do? I get a little pop-up message you know. install latest windows xp updates so i'm like. OK i'l just get this over and done with. I turn the computer off let windows do it's thing, turn it back on now I'm getting dots on the screen. They look like little droplets and most of the time they're blue. i get to the windows xp log-in screen now this is the "fun" (annoying/main part). WHENEVER I move my mouse cursor over the account tabs the computer just freeze's then the screen goes black, doesn't do anything after that. So I gave my friend a call who's a computer technician, he said that my video card is blown and that I will have to get a new one. My heart just dropped out of my but there for about 5 minutes. I gave my brother a call and he thinks otherwise. He said to do a system restore but this is another "fun" (annoying/main part). I'm trying to do a system restore on the PC (in safe mode) and it doesn't want to seem to work. First of all there are NO bold dates to choose from which is very strange as I applied a Windows XP update shortly before I did this update that screwed the PC up. And nothing came up, and another even f'd up thing is that I can' choose what months to go from. That little arrow that let's go go to previous months and months after? Click that, doesn't do anything. So I gotta wait for my bro to come back from Canberra for the meantime which should be i n around a weeks time or so. But ugh I can't wait that long i'm gonna die of boredom here. So I am begging all.. of you. from the bottom of my heart, is there ANYTHING absolutely ANYTHING I could do to FIX this? I'm so close to throwing this thing out the window Badluck seems to be coming from all sides at me lately and I really can't put up with this.

I have tried system restore and also tried to install soundmax in safe mode nothing works.

I've tried googling, I've tried driver-guide and I tried just about every place I can think of but for the
life of me, I just cannot seem to install this CDRom in WinXp SP2. Every time the computer reboots it finds this new hardware and cannot find the drivers anywhere! Internet or on my computer. It just can't find them. I've gone to Lite-On Site but with no luck. I would just toss this piece of out the window and just get a new one but the fact that it finds it tells me that it does works. My DVD-ROM has no problem.

A client has a win2k SP4 box that connects wirelessly using a Linksys WMP55AG card to a Linksys WRT54G. I have scanned the box with Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, HijackThis, and AVG. I have emptied all temp directories and caches. I used RegTweak to address registry inconsistencies, and have run LSPFix and FixWinsock. Now, if I boot the machine with the network card enabled, it connects fine to the router, gets internet access and runs fine, for about 2 minutes. Then, the machine freezes and becomes 100% unresponsive. The only way to resolve this is to power down explicitly. Now, if I boot up and disable the network card, even after it has connected, then the machine does not freeze. And, if I wait a few minutes, and then re-enable the network card and allow it to connect, it does and yet it does NOT freeze. At all. It has been useful now for over five hours. If I restart the machine with the card enabled, it will freeze again after two minutes. I do not think that it is an issue with the card as it would freeze regardless of when the connection is made. There are also no entries in the event logs that pertain to this in the least.

I've checked the power management options and these are normal.2 - Can't connect to the internet via my network card.
