I've been having this problem with my Dell Lattitude D505 Laptop where I put it on standby, and then about 10 seconds after taking it off standby, I get a blue error screen telling me the system crashed. It mentions on the screen something about BIOS memory. Looking through some other posts, I have seen mention of a correlation between this screen and BIOS. does anyone think that this BIOS memory thing is in fact the problem? How do I resolve anything that deals with this BIOS memory? The help section on my computer just defines what BIOS is, it doesn't state where I can find it on my comp.

I've got a bunch of problems with my windows XP home right now:To start, the start bar (where it should be blue and bubbly) is the same as windows classic, which is odd.My computer crashed twice on friday (blue screen). My computer keeps telling me that I'm not connected to the internet even though I am (I use wireless cable internet). In the start menu, where it says "all programs" with the arrow, that wont show me all my programs.

I decided to make the move and give SP3 a try,I shouldn't have bothered! All went well, and the system rebooted, well into the boot sequence I was greeted by a blue screen:STOP: C0000139 {Entry Point Not Found}The procedure entry point GdiGetBitmapBitSize could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll.
Naturally, I fired up Acronis True Image and restored this morning's image, but I figure at some point they'll try to push this update down on patch Tuesday

Installed new hard drive, along with XP Home (recovery disk). Before my system crashed all my motherboard drivers were on D: partition.XP loads okay, but it is unstable - for example I cannot start msconfig under "Normal" start up. It crashes. I will not list all the BSOD - but XP doesn't like something.I have no devices connected apart from basic graphics card (which XP loaded the drivers for okay). I am waiting for XP Pro to be delivered, so I am hoping that my unstable XP will become stable after I upgrade (or full installation) of a retail version.
Prior to installing my current XP (one time of at least 30 others - as kept crashing),I tried to load my motherboard drivers from the disk my manufacture supplied.is it possible that my XP Home is unstable BECAUSE I do not have my motherboard drivers loaded? That might seem a naive question - but I honestly do not know, and I've started to become a tad paranoid as these problems have been ongoing for 5 weeks.

friend whose computer has crashed the screen had frozen. He could do nothing except reboot it using the power button but on rebooting, there was a 'no signal' message on a black screen. We have checked the monitor connections (the monitor works when connected to his second computer) and even replaced the video card but of course this made no difference (no signal) We've taken out the HD and installed it on his second system. Does this mean that the most likely cause now is the motherboard/bios or is there something wrong in our approach/deductions

A friends HP Media Center PC m7077c crashed. Had no recover disk, etc. Installed XP Pro SP2 and I need drivers (according to Device Manager). No sound is obvious but video controller is not. Video seems okay. Where do I find drivers for this machine. XP Pro, Home and MCE are different OS's ... as far as my experience. The drivers are not the same.

I have just installed a nvidia driver (84.21) to replace the version (77.77) I've successfully been running for several months now. Both are certified as compat with my 6800gt card. I seem to be able to instal it OK, files are copied across, the screen resets, the new driver is listed as installed uder the device manager and I get a message saying the new hardware has succesfully installed and I need to restart to finish installation.
When I do, i go through the usual boot through to the windows start up screen (with flag), then I get a blue secreen with "please wait....." after 5 secs the dots stop appearing, then within 30 secs the HD stops. The keyboard etc is frozen. I gave it 5 mins then reverted to last good config, and tried again deleting all previous nvidia drivers, but still get the same result. I also tried a different driver (83. something) and still the same. I had norton disabled during installation

I kept getting stop messages with a blue screen on my old hard drive and figured the drive had died (even tho it's only 8 months old). I got a new hard drive, put it in and now, I just got a blue screen with DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL error message. Uh-oh. What does this mean?? I booted up again and the error message didn't appear but I got these (which I think are new): IDUServ.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows and an identical one for iptray.exe. Before the IRQL error, btw, my modem (dial-up) wasn't working after I put in the new drive and I noticed exclamation points by my PCI devices on Device Manager--also, the USB controller thing had an exclamation point by it, although all my USB-run gadgets seem to run just fine. Does this mean my PCI slots aren't working and that's why my modem isn't working? I'm running Win2000. It's an Intel Pentium 4 631 3.00GHz HT EM64T XD, 800MHz, FSB, 2MB motherboard.

Blue screen error caused by a device or driver You received this message because a hardware device, its driver, or related software has caused a blue screen error. This type of error means the computer has shut down abruptly to protect itself from potential data corruption or loss. In this case, we were unable to detect the specific device or driver that caused the problem.
iam running windows xp....ive been having problems with my pc forever and i can never seem to work out if its bad ram or a memory issue. Anytime my pc is running for a long period of time it seems to hang and give me the blue screen, if i try to run a media program or burn a cd or anything along those lines it hangs also....What could this problem be? do i need to let someone look into my system or can it be resolved at all. Ive had every error msg i believe...it seems to always tell me its a device error when it hangs or when i reboot it gives me that msg and then reports the proble

owing to a BSOD and a corrupt 'C' drive etc (when nothing had changed!). I performed a reformat and clean install of XP(SP2) from my recovery CD. All went well and now starting again, installed drivers etc, and all high priority updates from MS site. Several restarts without problem. Left system running for a few hours, went back to it, brought it out of idle mode to find just the 'blue background', no menu or icons!, tried restart same problem. can get into 'safe mode' and all there, but will not complete that final phase of booting up.

I have been getting the blue screen of death on my Dell Inspiron 600m running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP2 w/ Intel Pentium M processor 1600 MHz 299 MHz, 1 GB of Ram (only hardware not factory - installed recently). I was given this laptop as a Christmas gift as the donor received a new one on boxing day It was given to me with this error and I suspect it is from the new(er) memory installed but cannot be certain as I have no references to go on. I had enough of this reoccurring error very quickly so I reinstalled the OS clean and fully updated the system with Microsoft updates including SP2, the computer also has quite a bit of expensive software I installed and is virus free according to trend micro IS PC-cillin 2007.The memory that came out of this unit is in with the laptop bag stored in the new memory packaging, the new memory is: Times Two(2) units = KTD - INSP8200/512 (512MB Memory Module) Equiv. Dell(R) P/N: 311 - 1356 (Sodimm DDR Inspiron) whatever that means! The old memory that was removed says: Again Times Two (2) units = Infineon HYS64D32020GDL-7-B 32M x 64 SDRAM - B2V40212332G - PC21000S-2033-0-A1 - 256MB,DDR,266,CL2

I know this seems like I lot to read, but bear with me please, it needs explaining (or at least I think so.)in all seriousness, here's the situation: I'm running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Dimension 3000. Prior to this problem, I had been getting blue screened rather frequently with some page about a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error (or something along those lines). It told me that I should uninstall any new software/hardware to resolve the problem, and something about sysaudio.sys and another audio-related file at the bottom. I can't remember exactly, I haven't had the problem for a couple days now. Below that, it said "Beginning dump of physical memory to disk" with a timer counting up, as most blue screens do. I just ignored this screen any time I ran into it and rebooted, seeing as I hadn't installed any new hardware or software that I could think of.

when I try to boot up my computer I get a blue screen right after the windows is loaded. It just flicks up for a second so I cannot see what it says. It does same with safe mode.I'm not sure, but I think it is caused by display driver I tryied to install. I got a nVidia 8600GT-m card, and nVidia doesn't provide official driver for it, it must come from the vendor or I need to use modified driver. The driver that came from the vendor didn't support some of the openGL functions and gave error when I tried to run stuff on higher resolution

I was attempting to get the flash player to work and did all kind of things. But before I started, I created a restore point and exported the registry. The last thing I recall doing was a manual install of the latest flash player. Seems like it hung up and after a few minutes I turned off the PC by holding in on the power button. When I power up the PC it would get to the blue screen with the windows XP logo screen and then hang.Normally it took me to a screen showing the various users on the PC.I have rebooted in the safe mode and it gets to the same screen and hangs up.

Have a new HP laptop which had Windows 7 pre-installed. I couldn't get on with it so I tried installing XP but all I got was the "Blue Screen of Death" telling me that Windows had detected an error and had shut down. I tried again with the same result so I tried installing Linux (Ubuntu). This went on fine and so I tried XP again. Still the blue screen of death. XP will not install and I would be grateful for any help anyone can give to an oldie.

I'm in a bit of a pickle, I was installing some beta drivers from nvidia on my gaming desktop just for fun, but when I restarted the computer can't run for more then 3 minutes until it crashes, so I need to go back and reverse the drivers i installed or get rid of them. The dilemma here is that I'm not exactly sure what I need to do, nor can I BOOT INTO SAFE MODE, which has been an issue for me for about a year now. Whenever I begin to login in safe mode the computer abruptly restarts before it even reaches the desktop

I'm trying to help a friend out.His XP crashed - says it is missing some config files etc.I cannot boot up in safe mode, can not repair via the recovery console and when I try to reinstall, it says there is an installation in progress and it won't go any further. (My friend tried to reinstall somehow, and has a few 1/2 installed versions accross his different hard drives.I want to restore from a ghost image we have, but the problem is, there is 7 months of data files (not backed up!) that I want to get saved first.I can boot up via a win98 boot disk and see the files, but I can't work out a way of getting them accross to another hard drive easily. In the old days, I'd use xcopy with the "/s" switch to take all the sub directories etc, but I can't find xcopy in XP or get any copy functions to work

Encountered a Blue Screen of Death error. The error stated that I should run Chkdsk and then proceeds to restart and bring me to the Windows boot selection screen (safe mode, last known good configuration, normally). No matter which choice I pick, it always leads to the BSOD then restarts. Since this is getting me nowhere fast, I want to just format and reinstall windows. I do not have my recovery CDs, and when I enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence I cannot change it so the CD drive is above the hard drive in priority. The reason it gives me in the bios is that "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system supervisor. Any ideas on how I can boot off the cd and reinstall windows from scratch?

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps.Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard disks or hard drive controllers.Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Everytime I’m going online after a while my computer just restarts. The symptoms I noticed is that downloading of webpages becomes slower than usual before it restarts. Before it restarts a blue screen appears with some text in it but I couldn’t read it because it just flashes a split second. After my pc has restarted a box pops out saying –The system has recovered form a serious error. But it doesn’t state what kind of error it just ask if you want to send the info to Microsoft. I hope someone could help me here. What are the causes and what do I need to do? (by the way im connecting to the net thru a modem, dial –up)
