Im using windows xp home. And when im running a dskchk it stops and doesnt complete to 100%. when it gets to stage 5 it gets to 56% and restarts and I recently had major issue with blue screens. the message i got was a device or driver caused it but windows doesnt know which one and today my pc shut down and it kept looping to the start up and i had to use recovery console to fix it but im not sure it did.

iam running windows xp....ive been having problems with my pc forever and i can never seem to work out if its bad ram or a memory issue. Anytime my pc is running for a long period of time it seems to hang and give me the blue screen, if i try to run a media program or burn a cd or anything along those lines it hangs also....What could this problem be? do i need to let someone look into my system or can it be resolved at all. My laptop has started to freeze at times,then the screen would blackout then appear with a black screen with a blue box inthe middle giving BOOT DEVICE OPTIONS Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM/DVD, Floppy Disk Drive, LAN Boot it froze blacked out and now keeps going to this option page ,where as before if you turn off then on it rectified itself.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had this computer (ThinkPad R60e, WinXP Home SP3, 1.83 GHz 1 GB RAM) for years and its never had this kind of problem before: whenever I insert anything (thumb drive, camera, iPod) into the a USB port the computer goes into a blue screen of death saying "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" and "STOP: 0x00000050". I've noticed that with certain things like my external harddrive, it works fine if its plugged in while the computer boots, but not if inserted while its already active. I'm really not sure at all what could be causing this, I haven't changed anything drastically about the computer in quite a while. The only thing I can think of is my antivirus program (McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i) just recently found a trojan and I then did a full scan to get rid of it completely.

I have updated my bios (also loaded defaults) installed latest chip set drivers. I even tried to increase the "IPStackSize" in my registry.I can't seem to find a fix for this problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just installed a nvidia driver (84.21) to replace the version (77.77) I've successfully been running for several months now. Both are certified as compat with my 6800gt card. I seem to be able to instal it OK, files are copied across, the screen resets, the new driver is listed as installed uder the device manager and I get a message saying the new hardware has succesfully installed and I need to restart to finish installation.
When I do, i go through the usual boot through to the windows start up screen (with flag), then I get a blue secreen with "please wait....." after 5 secs the dots stop appearing, then within 30 secs the HD stops. The keyboard etc is frozen. I gave it 5 mins then reverted to last good config, and tried again deleting all previous nvidia drivers, but still get the same result. I also tried a different driver (83. something) and still the same. I had norton disabled during installation
I kept getting stop messages with a blue screen on my old hard drive and figured the drive had died (even tho it's only 8 months old). I got a new hard drive, put it in and now, I just got a blue screen with DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL error message. Uh-oh. What does this mean?? I booted up again and the error message didn't appear but I got these (which I think are new): IDUServ.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows and an identical one for iptray.exe. Before the IRQL error, btw, my modem (dial-up) wasn't working after I put in the new drive and I noticed exclamation points by my PCI devices on Device Manager--also, the USB controller thing had an exclamation point by it, although all my USB-run gadgets seem to run just fine. Does this mean my PCI slots aren't working and that's why my modem isn't working? I'm running Win2000. It's an Intel Pentium 4 631 3.00GHz HT EM64T XD, 800MHz, FSB, 2MB motherboard.

View 27 Replies View RelatedI have a USB device (Motorola V3 phone) and when connected it the driver did not install properly (something like there was an error installing the device) and the only option was to close the device wizard (no back option) I tried this on all my USB ports. The problem now is that when I plug the phone into a USB nothing happens at all - it doesn't try and load a new driver and since the driver it installed before didn't work it doesn't use that.How can I remove all trace of the phone from the PC so that it will have another go at installing the driver (I used the CD that came with the phone before, but I have since got it to work on another PC by letting it search the web for a driver).

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy pc was running fine when it just started beeping like a warning klaxon. Rebooting didn't help, but rebooting into safe mode then normal mode did. Then 1 hour later while running spysweeper, I stopped the scan early because it was taking too long. It detected 1 adware and 1 trojan, but the log said the trojan (ruin) could not be quarantined and some threat was still in memory, despite a problem free pc except for the beeping which I thot was resolved. After exiting spysweeper
my pc locked up and could not be turned off manually, so I unplugged the cord in back. Then I got a blue screen after it tried rebooting. The bootup started normally, but then a blue screen read as follows, more or less-If this is the first time you are seeing this message reboot your pc. Otherwise check for viruses, remove any new hard drives or hard drive controllers. or refer to your startup manual. I can't even boot in safe mode.
I was reading a string from 2007 on this site about a similar problem I'm having. My XP computer keeps resetting and after the computer restarts and an error report is sent I get a rather vague web page from Microsoft that a device driver might be at fault.
The string I mentioned reading involved a member here that seemed very knowledgeable and quite helpful, I think it was "The Hound" at any rate in reading the string The Hound recommended setting up the error process, for lack of a better term, to not automatically reboot so the message on the bluescreen could be read. I've done that but the system is stable for now.
Windows XP. I have bought two keyboards, one USB, the other ps/2, but neither has changed a thing as far as eliminating the code 39 message I am getting when I go to device driver. There's also the exclamation point in yellow, that hasn't changed either. Things I have done include uninstalling and reinstalling, but since I can't do anything more than copy and paste, there isn't much I have been able to do as far as msconfig or safe mode. (I've tried to go to diagnostic mode via misconfig but it asks for an administrator password and I have learned passwords can't be copied and pasted).
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter going through many trials, tribulations, and attempts to fix my computer, i was left with only one option, to fully restore it back to factory settings. i thought this would cleanse all of my problems. now i have no sound. i have tried running services.msc and windows audio is correctly enabled. it is likely to be a missing sound driver, but i have no clue how to determine where i can get this said driver. i think it is important to note that it appears that none of my usb ports in the front or back of my computer are active.

A few days ago I had to do a system restore, but couldn't go back any farther than the month of July.. At any rate, both drives show up in Device Manager as well as my computer. They both light up, but nothing plays. I have unistalled both of them, windows finds new hardware, but the same error message is still there "windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware, the driver may be corrupted or missing code 39" I have read about going into the registry and I usualy get into alot of trouble with that. What I would like to do is a complete recovery using the hp recovery disks that I made when I got the HP. Windows came pre- installed with no disks other than the ones I created. My question if I do this will I be able to use the disks since nothing is playing in either of these drives? My computer is a Desktop , HP Pavillion model is 220N.

When trying to install farstone virtual drive on a computer it reboots during the driver installation phase. After the reboot at the desktop windows says new hardware found and asks to install it. It's the offending driver, fcdabios. Windows installs it and says it was installed successfully. Then the computer spontaneously reboots again. It seems to start alright back at the desktop but again reboots after 2 minutes. The only cure is to do a restore from a norton ghost image. I sent a debug file to farstone but haven't received a reply yet.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to track down drivers for my Packard Bell Imedia 3082 XP Pro service pack 3 desktop. I have been to the packard bell support/drivers site and found 5 out of 7 missing drivers. I had tried the suggested site previously but when i clicked on download products i kept getting a "server not found message". Tried it yesterday again and it worked so thanks to the people who suggested that. Problem now is I am still missing my ethernet controller driver and my multimedia controller driver. I dont know the exact device details in order to download the two missing drivers. to tracking down the ethernet and multimedia controller. I have downloaded and installed the multimedia driver from the Pack Bell Imedia 3082 site but still it is yellow with exclamation mark. And i still cant connect to my Belkin router. So in brief: I need the device details to my ethernet controller and multimedia controller so that i can track down the drivers.
