Some of desktop icons can be removed without actually removing the program they represent, but others, when I right click to remove, will remove the entire program along with the icon. Is there some way I can remove just the icon without removing the program?

View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently my father-in-law installed a program on to my computer. It set up a desktop icon, that did not get removed when it was uninstalled. I can't even right click on it and hit delete because it's not there, nor can I just hit delete. How can it be removed manually. It is a "share-to-web upload folder" from a hp digital camera. I aslo don't have access to the cd to reinstall it and uninstall again. Also I can't get task manager to work, I hit Ctrl, Alt, Delete and nothing. I right click on the task bar and click on task manager and nothing. Iwas working a few days ago, don't know what happened, anyway to get it back? I already tried system restore but only goes back a few days.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy caps lock on my keyboard works in complete reverse. with the "caps lock" on all of the letters are in small caps and when it is off all of the letters are in large caps. also my shift keys do not work. With the caps lock on the periods and commas give me "larger than" and "smaller than". the only way to get a period is to go to the "numeric keyboard. also I can"t reset the cursor when I try to go back to an earlier place it highlights the words in my folders I am unable to choose only one file When I click on a file it highlights every file from the beginning of the list to the one I have chosen.

When I click the icon, it starts to open the website, but then locks & will not open. I think i installed forceware 7.7 drivers before i played the gaem so i'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. This only presents a real problem when I log off of my dial up server and the icon remains highlighted. Obviously I didn't know what I was doing, but I did get the system installed and put programs back on that I had disks for. The problem is that I now have Norton, Nero and others on the hard drive that do not show up on the computer but when I do a scan I have to check through all those programs and they are taking up space on the drive. Now, after the cleaning activity as explained by techguys, everything seems going well. All programs do start without problems (through the start-menu or the quick-start taskbar), but there is a small drawback: my desktop screen shows only my wallpaper, there are no icons. The right-mouse click on the desktop also doesn't work (although the desktopsettings are accessible through the control panel).
