Removing "Ad Served By Internet Program"?
Apr 29, 2008
When I browse online, I get pop-ups and in the bottom right hand corner it states "Ad served by internet program". I need to remove this. I did virus scan and used AdAware to no avail.

How do you remove a hidden "StartUp program", like the one shown below? I need to remove it from my system. WinPatrol doesn't even detect it, so I can't remove that hidden program/file with WinPatrol. Is there a program that is made to detect hidden files like this (see below): I believe the program is actually part of the .NET Framework 2.0 (Service pack 1), which was installed on my computer, yesterday. I want to remove it & all of it's components if one of it's components is the exact same file I'm having trouble finding & removing from my list of StartUp programs. Is there a safe program that can detect & remove .NET Frameworks & other "hard to remove" files?

Some of desktop icons can be removed without actually removing the program they represent, but others, when I right click to remove, will remove the entire program along with the icon. Is there some way I can remove just the icon without removing the program?

I've already disabled access to it, and removed it using the add/remove windows components functions, but IE is still used in Windows Update (I'm told) and Hotmail (I've seen), also in pop-ups from adware, but that isn't much of a problem for me because I don't get adware.Anyways, seeing as I have no desire to ever have windows update run on my computer at any point in time, and I would rather hotmail use my default browser (firefox) to open sites, is there any way to further remove IE beyond what I have done?

his program is dependent on the internet to unload and download important information containing my progress. but the program will not stay up. it will exit without any error or warning to the desktop. No data is saved to their servers. I know it's got to be my end. as I have seen others use it (in the classroom) without problems. My connection is stable. and I have DSL. In cases like this I would usually uninstall and then reinstall. I can not lose my past progress as it is saved to their servers. But I cannot uninstall as the setup.exe for the program cannot be found, I have not done a manual uninstall before.

Lately when I download any type of file whether it be from the internet or from my Sony Cybershot, I am being denied access to whatever I downloaded. Just downloaded pictures and video from my camera to my computer and I moved all 'video' to a folder I called 'our video'. Now that it is there I cannot access it. Just plainly says, " 'our video' is not accessible, access denied". It is not allowing me to move it to another folder as well.
When I tried to play the video before I was getting the access denied thing, media player was saying that it cannot play that type of file. I have NEVER had an issue with playing ANY pics. or video that came from my camera. This has been going on for a few weeks with every video or picture that I add to my computer. After it is downloaded I can't access it. I am running XP professional.

She tried to go on line again yesterday and it wouldn't connect to the internet. A dialogue box appeared stating: Buffer Overrun: a buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the programs internal state. The program cannot safely continue.

I have a Dell E1505 Inspiron laptop running Windows XP Media. It takes a very long time after I type my password in the logon screen to get into the system - it sits for several minutes and then eventually moves again and opens up the desktop. When I click on the icon to connect to the internet wirelessly,it again takes several minutes seems frozen, before it does connect. In addition,I run McAfee on my system and it flashes up a message saying that it blocked a potentially unwanted program GenericPUP.H, but cannot seem to remove it. Also, there is a folder under c:Documents and Settings Programs called vmntoolbar. I found out that this could cause problems also, but I cannot seem to be able to delete it.

I tried to use "Compressed (Zipped) Folders" in Windows. It didn't work. Then I tried right clicking on a folder/file, selecting "Properties", pushing the "Advanced" button,I then checked "Compress contents to save disk space",and the folder and its contents turned blue but the size of the files, seeming, hadn't changed. Have the files actually been compressed? Should I get an external ZIP program? If so can you recommend a program?

It is frustrating having every program automatically install to program files, including minor things like audio attachment. I know I'll end up with tons and tons of folders in program files. Beyond that, I can't access program files from the other computers on the network. Is there a good way to reorganize/move files to my C drive in a way that would be efficient and wouldn't require reinstalling every single program in a different place?

For the past week, I have been geting this pop-up every so often I use IE7. Some Asian site http://www.100x10000.com/cai_union.html keeps opening every time I start IE or it sometimes opens when I go to another site. I'm using XP and IE7, I don't want suggestions on using other browsers, just need someone to help me remove it. I had a similar thing a long time ago, and I searched it on google and found the solutions right away. I can't find anything on that ad, but I'm pretty sure I can solve it the same way, but I don't remember what file I deleted the first time to get rid of the other add pop-up.

I have a computer that runs windows xp pro, service pack 1. I was having trouble with freezing and a whole lot of pop ups, I started a virus scan with anti vir and it deleted a whole bunch of trojan horses, but didn't find any viruses. I installed the free version of AdAware and every time I try to run a scan, it starts ok but after a few minitues it has found about 20 critical objects when it just turns off by itself. I have restarted it several times and it does the same thing. I have downloaded spyware doctor and spybot, but every time I try to install them, it tells me that a dll or some other thing like a scripter cannot install. Can someone tell me why AdAware is quiting by itself and why spybot and spyware doctor cannot be installed.

Anyone know a good method of purging an XP pc of a user, like when a machine is sold and the new user wants all traces of the old user removed?
I thought I had a reasonably good method, which was to create a new user account, remove the default files from it's folder in Documents and Settings, copy most of the contents of the original user's folder into it, then delete the original user.
This method isn't too bad, and removes most of the obvious traces of the original owner, while leaving all the desktop and Windows settings intact.
But a scan with RegSeeker (incidentally, this is a damn good free app for finding and deleting multiple registry entries) revealed 85 instances of the old user name still in the Registry, so my method isn't 100% effective
