I have one internet program,( with my bank), that freezes every time I open it. If I delete my Sun Microsoft Java then it runs. This does not happen to me on a laptop that I uses. Both machines run Win XP.It's a pain to keep adding ang removing the Java.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows XP on a one year old Vostro 220. Problem seems to have started after I replaced McAffee with Norton 360 per Comcast's changeover. I have since uninstalled Norton but the problem persists. Ran PSA which showed no hardware or memory problems. I believe Norton must have changed some of the registry values. I am running Norton on my laptop with Windows 7 but that is not a problem.

It takes a very long time after I type my password in the logon screen to get into the system - it sits for several minutes and then eventually moves again and opens up the desktop. When I click on the icon to connect to the internet wirelessly,it again takes several minutes seems frozen, before it does connect. In addition,I run McAfee on my system and it flashes up a message saying that it blocked a potentially unwanted program GenericPUP.H, but cannot seem to remove it. Also, there is a folder under c:Documents and Settings Programs called vmntoolbar. I found out that this could cause problems also, but I cannot seem to be able to delete it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently uninstalled a program I had on my computer called Venturi2. It had been running in the background and didn't seem to be serving any purpose so did so. I did get the feeling it had something to do with graphics though.This was maybe 2 days ago. I tried playing a game right now (Command and Conquer) and for some reason it was lagging horribly. I've ran it fine in the past. Are these two things related? Either way is there some way to redownload the program? I've tried googling all over but the only links I find are linking to an informer.com domain, whereupon it says it doesnt have the software but to try googling it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been dealing with Java problems.I downloaded, deleted and redownloaded the Java program from Sun Microsystems or something like that and I know you don't speak highly of Wild Tangent as one time you had me delete it from a highjack list with another issue. Anyway, when I try to download the Java from Wild Tangent (MS) and install it this is the error that I get, "The Microsoft Virtual Machine you are attempting to install is a protected system component and can only be updated with a later release of the operating system or service pack." When I click OK, it says that the Installation is complete but windows doesn't detect any Java. Pogo will not work with either of the Javas that I have tried to download and I'm understanding from this error that this is the reason.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've formatted my hdd using hirens boot cd, partition magic. xp install starts, goes through "setup is loading files", gets to "setup is starting windows" and stops, all activity stops (hdd, cd), full silence. if i'm not mistaking, eula comes next and F8 to continue. i left it for 8 hours and waited, no result. same thing happens with vista - goes through loading files, i get a screen with that green line going from left to right and goes on and on and on forever.I've tried with 2 different xp cds, one xp64 cd and vista dvd. nothing.linux ubuntu installs without any problems.i've tried erasing MBR with acronis disk director suite (hirens boot cd) and with DOS line "fdisk.exe /mbr", but every time my installation freezes.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy mouse keeps hanging up and clock loses time when not running in safe mode. Not just the mouse really, but nothing at all works. When I boot normally (not into safe mode), windows can take forever to load due to this. On last boot my clock lost 10 out of 15 minutes uptime and I had to manually power off even then. I am running Windows XP Service pack 2 on a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ system with 1214 mb mem 150 gig hdd.

The problem was the psu. I replaced it but problems persist. Computer boots normally I can log in but when I try to use a program it usually freezes. Firefox will open and I can surf the net for about ten minutes then it slows down drastically until it freezes. I notice in task manager that PF usage climbs high as firefox slows down. IE works normally but if I open another program winamp for example it freezes completely and makes one continuous beep. Hard drive activity will go on for minutes while nothing is running.none of this happened before the first psu started to die I think it did some damage but I don't know what.
View 11 Replies View Relatedwhen I try right-clicking on a file in Windows Explorer (or PowerDesk Pro), I get an hourglass, but the right-click menu never comes up and the program freezes (both Explorer and PowerDesk). Actually the very same thing happens if I "select" a file and try to delete the file by pressing the "Delete" key. And the problem occurs when I try to delete a file using the menu (Edit --> Cut). This is really frustrating, to say the least.
my com crash whenever i use km player to play a movie or TV series, but it is fine with other program( but can't use the other program for long too, cause it start crashing up). and i will freeze for a a while, i can still click to other folders and stuff, but after a while it crash, the i keep clicking my mouse for about 10 times, it start to have a beeping sound from the com.

On my desktop, all programs function fine. On the other desktop for the other user, when a program is launched, it opens up as a blank program window. It eventually got so bad that we removed most of his installed software other than the essential, but problems continued. We then made a repair installation of Windows XP from the Dell OS installation disk, after which the computer would fall over every time after initial boot up. With sinking heart (of course, he had no image, but had data backups) we then formatted the hard disk and executed a fresh installation of Windows XP.
Windows now boots but the Windows directories contain very few folders or files. The CD drive can only be read perhaps 50% of the time. Most program installation files refuse to run, but some do. One installation disk which will not run is his internet installation. The computer continues to display sporadic blue screens.Before it goes out the window can anyone suggest our next course of enquiry?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor one of the users on that machine a vertical blue bar appears (there appears to be a red line in the middle of the bar) when the Internet Explorer starts, and the program does not respond to any commands. The bar is only about 1/8" thick and about 2" long. The bar can be relocated by pointing the mouse at the top end but after closing ie and restarting it returns to the middle of the page. The Yahoo page that loads appears to be current, i.e., it shows today's date and current stories. The only thing that actually responds is to end the program using task manager. This problem occurs for only one of the users on that computer.
