I uninstalled Internet Explorer 7 Beta and now when I log on all I get is the desktop picture and an error message saying Explorer.EXE cannot find normaliz.dll reinstalling will correct the problemHowever I have no way of installing the dll because I can only log on in Safe Mode with command Prompt.
View 3 RepliesI would like to install Internet Explorer 7 beta 2, and it does not work. So I did what they said in troubleshooting (use regmon to find a key that says "access denied" So I did that and found that HKCR/mailto is the problem. So I go into the registry and when I click on it I get an a message saying there was an error opening the key. I try change the permissions, and again I get an error message. Then I even try to delete it (I have a copy from another system to install) and again I get an error message. What can I do to fix this problem?
View 14 Replies View RelatedLast week I posted a question to this forum regarding the trouble I was having uninstalling Explorer Beta 2 (you can't install Beta 3 until you UNINSTALL beta 2). I got some very good suggestions -- system restore, trying REinstalling beta 2, etc. but none of them worked. Beta 2 won't reinstall unless you uninstall, restoring back to earlier times resurrected other demons and glitches I had solved, etc. What I believed happened is part of my overzealous file maintenance. I usually delete all those windows update Uninstall files that clutter up the Windows directory. Who knew that one of them was probably the uninstall file for Explorer Beta 2?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt all happened 2 days ago on my Compaq Presario R3000 laptop when I decided to uninstall the newest version of Internet Explorer 7. Because I didn't like Internet Explorer and all the stuff I heard about it containing some bugs, I decided to uninstall it.So I went through Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and searched for Internet Explorer 7. I clicked on the one that only said "Internet Explorer 7" and it took me to this uninstalling phase.
It then warned me that most programs would "freak out" if I have done so by uninstalling Internet Explorer 7. So I decided to ignore it and take the risk, a risk that I was going to pay very soon.It took a few minutes of deleting the files and stuff, then I had to reboot, upon logging on to my account this error message pops up stating: "This application has failed to start because iertutil.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
I'm not sure this is the right place for this.I had the Vista Beta (I don't remember if it was 1 or 2). I then set my pc to boot into XP by default as I didn't like Vista.Everything was fine until yesterday. Now when I boot into XP Explorer and about 2/3 of my services don't load. I can start them manually just fine, but they no longer auto run.

A couple months ago I noticed that when in Windows Explorer viewing files, the icons that used to be pictures are now a generic icon. If I change view to Filmstrip or tiles, some of them show, but not most. In Icon, List, or Details none of them show.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi had Ubuntu (dual boot with XP), and i got both partions on 15GBs each, now that Ubuntu its gone, i thought that my XP would have back the 30GB it used to have but it doesnt, it still says it has the 15GB the partion used to have, and i deleted Ubuntu by using my XP disk and Repaired the computer doing the fixmbr thingy and i thought it was going to make it the way it was before, also, my floppy drive doesnt seem to work, it lights up, when i log in it seems like its trying to scan a floppy or something, and when i try to open up a floppy disk it freezes the window and doesnt let me work or anything.

So I enter the cd rom and press 'r' for repair, I choose C:windows, however before it can begin to repair it asks me for an 'Administration Password' which I have no idea of after many attempts.
I do not want to have to format the pc since I have some very important files on it. Any help is appreciated.
My pc is so slow that it takes ages to play a song in wmp11. Ive used tools like ad-aware and registry mechanic, tune up utilities. But still no improvement. It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.

Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.

I called Comcast they ran all the diagnosis from their end and said something got corrupted in Internet Explorer. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Limewire, also, will connect, but wont download anything without msn being logged in. How do i get back to how it was? And no, system restore did not work.
