Not sure how that happened or if i have a virus of some sort. I cannot see in IE the file-edit-tools-windows menu at the top of the navagation icons. I have a virus scanner that updates daily, so may be that my grand daughter changed something. How do i restore them back to the way it was?

I have no idea why this looks like it does. Take a look at the image and try to tell me why my menubar, address bar and navigation links have gone missing from my windows. If I double click a folder on my desktop or right click a folder in windows explorer and click "Open", the window that opens shows up like this:Has anyone ever seen this? Attention: window behaviour is normal when windows explorer is openned by pressing <WindowsKey> + E. I repeat: windows display normal menus and bars when I open using the shortcut key.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi ran some pretty complicated malware-removal programs since my PC (on the office network) was showing loads of trojans and other malware. in the order of running, i ran Malwarebytes, MGTools, Combofix with the windows recovery option. Then, on not having found anything substantial, I uninstalled Combofix with the /u optiom and deleted C:Combofix and later, proceeded to delete C:MGTools.The PC allows me to do a Ctrl+Alt+Del log in, and once I hit Return after entering the password, it just shows me the blue background to the desktop - No items, no menus.Same thing happens in safe mode.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt all happened 2 days ago on my Compaq Presario R3000 laptop when I decided to uninstall the newest version of Internet Explorer 7. Because I didn't like Internet Explorer and all the stuff I heard about it containing some bugs, I decided to uninstall it.So I went through Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and searched for Internet Explorer 7. I clicked on the one that only said "Internet Explorer 7" and it took me to this uninstalling phase.
It then warned me that most programs would "freak out" if I have done so by uninstalling Internet Explorer 7. So I decided to ignore it and take the risk, a risk that I was going to pay very soon.It took a few minutes of deleting the files and stuff, then I had to reboot, upon logging on to my account this error message pops up stating: "This application has failed to start because iertutil.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
I uninstalled Internet Explorer 7 Beta and now when I log on all I get is the desktop picture and an error message saying Explorer.EXE cannot find normaliz.dll reinstalling will correct the problemHowever I have no way of installing the dll because I can only log on in Safe Mode with command Prompt.

It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.

Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.

Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash. If I do explore then there is no problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have windows XP home edition running on a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop, and have recently done a windows repair, which set me back to service pack one. So I went to the site and downloaded all of the necessary updates, installed, and then went back a second time and did it again and installed SP2. I then received the BSOD when I restarted after SP2. So I started up using F8 to boot into the most recent configuration that worked, and there was no taskbar or start menu. I tried starting up normally, and it started up, but took forever loading (the screen that says loading your settings), and the taskbar is still not there, neither is the start menu.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSomething has happened to my installation of WinXP Pro. The Windows Explorer Right Click Menu has the selection "New" from which (among other things) I could chose to create a new folder.
Now when I right click and move to the "New" selection there is a dialog box the flickers on several times and then goes away and that's it. Nothing else. The dialog box goes away so fast it is hard to read but I THINK is says something about "Preparing to install".
I have never seen this problem before and haven't a clue how to fix it. Where in the registry is the stuff that controls what appears under the "New" selection? Perhaps it is corrupt in some way.
I sure hope someone can help me, this is a bummer.
