Jul 3, 2005My computer has been bogged down by spyware and such, and it's going to be much easier to just format my computer and start from scratch. How do i go about doing this, it's been a while.

Right Click Format Option Gone In Computer Management
Oct 24, 2008When I go to 'manage' computer to format an extra dive [magicjack], that option is grayed out. How can I get that option to be notgrayed out anymore? I've spent about 3 hours with Magicjack's customer service & they can't help me with this.
Also my 'removable drive' is gone. How can I add it back?I have windows xp model 2400, service pack 2.

A pop-up in my toolbar keeps telling me i have a serious infection, but im sure its just spyware because i cant stop it and it redirects me to a site to buy software. I have Spybot Search and Destroy and AVG anti-viris and ive run both twice, but it didnt help.

I cannot get the Microsoft Windows option to set because it stays set in the Custom option. When I click on the Microsoft Windows option and then click OK it will automatically go back to the Custom option.I have tried clicking and unclicking the Microsoft Windows options in the Custom tab but it does no good.

Sep 3, 2006I have been trying to make some family clips and found ou that windows XP brings Movie Maker. I have Windows XP Home eddition. I tried to look in the Accesories/Entertaiment/ folder for the Movie Maker, but it's not there. I went to add/remove windows components, but there is no option to add movie maker. I thought I did not have the software so I went to the xp windows microsoft downloads and look for the movie maker. I tried to down load the package that brings this software but it run and applation to check if I required the download, but it was already installed. So it looks like that it's already installed, but I don't know how to acces it.

Jul 3, 2005I removed a program via the add/remove programs and it seemed as though everything was removed... no traces of it on the desktop or via the start up menu. However, browsing through, (is it still windows explorer?), I saw that the folder is still there and full of goodies. Can I just delete the entire main folder? I get nervous in and around there since something is always sharing something from somewhere else.

This HDD had 2 partition on it (from a previous XP install on another PC) so I used the XP install CD to basically remove it and create a single partition on it (that's the only way I knew how to do it).However, while doing that, it ended up creating a dual boot config so that now, when I start my PC, I have to chose which OS to start:1) The regular XP install2) The one that never got installed on the new HDD since I only partitionned it.?

Apr 8, 2009I just acquired a used toshiba M45. Windows XP-home. In attempts to "clean" the drive, I encountered the problem with no "change/remove" button option in control panel. I followed the advice found here to change values in the registry as outlined at . The problem is that when I get to the final branch of uninstall in the registry, there are no programs listed there to change the value. I can't find any solution here, or with mr. google.

Spyware Removal - Spyware Prevention, SpywareBlaster
Sep 6, 2003There are two excellent spyware removal apps available and they are both FREE so there is no reason to not use them regularly. The two best apps there are for removing spyware are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU USE BOTH OF THESE APPS SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES AND VICE VERSA, YOU ARE NOT SAFE USING JUST ONE OF THEM. There is one other app that I HIGHLY recommend is for spyware prevention, SpywareBlaster. This app sets certain registry entries that prevent spyware from ever installing, it DOES NOT run in the background using any resources, you just set it and forget it. Once you have installed these three MUST HAVE apps you then need to update them and keep them up to date. I would recommend checking for updates weekly, it’s just like your antivirus app, you need to stay protected from the latest spyware out there. To update SpyBot just open the app from your start menu (use the advanced mode option) and select “search for updates” it will then show you what updates are available for download, always install all the updates. Another feature that SpyBot has is called “Immunize”, you will see an icon for it. Select the icon and under “Permanent Internet Explorer Immunity” select “Immunize” this works in the same way as SpywareBlaster in blocking new spyware. It also gives you the option of locking your hosts file against hijackers, I highly recommend using this option as well. To update Ad Aware just open it and select “Check for updates now”. For SpywareBlaster it is mostly the same, open it up and select “Check for updates” once you update this you then must select “select all” and then “Protect against checked items” so that the updates you just did take effect. Anything these apps find is spyware and should be removed, if you choose not to remove what is found then you have no one to blame if your pc crashes due to spyware or your privacy is invaded (including these companies stealing your credit card number and identity

Likewise, when I right-click on the said icons, the 'Search' option is topmost & the 'Open' option has been relegated to second position. I would like the Search option to come first.
