I have a P4 2.4 Ghz with XP SP2 instaled. Three days ago I was instaling a download tool and was inefcted by major spyware infection.I downloaded MSoft antyspyware tool and cleaned the PC.Still I have this desktop image with blue background and black rectangle in midle screaming SPYWARE INFECTION :Your sistem is infected with spyware. Windows recommends that you use anyspyware removal tool to prevent loss.

I pointed it (browsed to) Windows/Web/Wallpapers but it STILL insists on my pictures included there! Still, every thirty seconds or so, I get a yellow triangle on the taskbar with a message "Caution! Spyware attack detected" or "Danger: antispyware protection failure". My browser is immediately then re-directed to either a site labeled "about:blank" or "antispyware.net" where I am asked to purchase new software. Any ideas how to turn this off?

Never had a problem with it and this new problem has just come out of no where.All background wallpapers leave a big gap down the left hand side of my screen. The pic's are big enought o fit the screen resolution and if I choose a smaller pic and 'center' it in display properties it does not center..I have just updated drivers and no change.Have WINXP ser pack 2
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got some kind of spy/adware that has replaced my wallpaper with a big sign saying I've got spyware and to click a link to remove it. When I right click the wallpaper and select properties I don't get any of the normal options. Also, in the tray by the time (in the bottom right of the screen) is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark which periodically says I have spyware and launchs a pop-up. Furthermore, my internet speed has slowed right down. I've just run various spyware and adware programs and done a TrendMicro online check and deleted all the files it found, but the problem won't go away.

I didn't think much about it until my wallpaper changed to something that appears to be an ad for spyware removal software with a "hotlink". I signed off and tried to run my spyware program and got an error message that it could not be loaded. I then tried to run my virus program, same thing. I then tried to get online to make sure my virus program was updated, same thing. It has also did this with several other programs as well as not allowing me to reset my computer to an earlier date (system recovery) nor will it allow me to get rid of the spyware ad wallpaper.

Recently got a piece of spyware called SpySHeriff. The program installed on my PC claiming to be a spyware fix program (i did not allow the install) i could not remove the program for a while but after looking through help topics on the net i found a registry to delete and fix the problem. Another thing that happened was that my wallapaper changed to this message : SYSTEM STOPPED system has been stopped due to serius malfunction. Spyware activity has been detected. It is recommended you use a spyware removal tool to prevent data loss. Do not use the computer until all spyware has been removed.

But when I try to disengage it by bringing up the "safely remove hardware" screen from the little icon in my sys tray about half the time I try and "stop" one of those devices I get the warning that it cannot be stopped now, and to try again later. The drive is not in use or anything but I still get the warning.I've heard it's bad to unplug a thumb drive before "safely removing" it but sometimes I have no other option.

I am running Windows XP & am a novice user, I have noticed that in Control Panel/Display/Desktop in the Background Window there are 50 or more files there that shouldn't be ( pictures I have saved to the "My Pictures" folder). how they got there & how to remove them.
