I have read the previous posts of the blue wallpaper coming up where you are infected with spyware. I have been cursed with this happenening to me. I have your directions but I must know what to do about my hijacthis log file. I need to know what to fix. Here is my log file. I will really appreciate if you can help me as soon as you have time. My computer is where I run my business and I am freaking out.
View 1 RepliesI've got some kind of spy/adware that has replaced my wallpaper with a big sign saying I've got spyware and to click a link to remove it. When I right click the wallpaper and select properties I don't get any of the normal options. Also, in the tray by the time (in the bottom right of the screen) is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark which periodically says I have spyware and launchs a pop-up. Furthermore, my internet speed has slowed right down. I've just run various spyware and adware programs and done a TrendMicro online check and deleted all the files it found, but the problem won't go away.

Soon after my desktop wallpaper showed an ad for free spyware removal software and now i can't change it back to the regular desktop. I didn't think much about it until my wallpaper changed to something that appears to be an ad for spyware removal software with a "hotlink". I signed off and tried to run my spyware program and got an error message that it could not be loaded. I then tried to run my virus program, same thing. I then tried to get online to make sure my virus program was updated, same thing. It has also did this with several other programs as well as not allowing me to reset my computer to an earlier date (system recovery) nor will it allow me to get rid of the spyware ad wallpaper.

The program installed on my PC claiming to be a spyware fix program (i did not allow the install) i could not remove the program for a while but after looking through help topics on the net i found a registry to delete and fix the problem. Another thing that happened was that my wallapaper changed to this message : SYSTEM STOPPED system has been stopped due to serius malfunction. Spyware activity has been detected. It is recommended you use a spyware removal tool to prevent data loss. Do not use the computer until all spyware has been removed.

I have no desktop icons and no wallpaper on one of my computers, but I have the start toolbar and tray icons, and I have access to task manager and all my programs. However, when I right click on the desktop and click arrange icons all the options are grayed out. Also, I cannot change the wallpaper - it remains solid blue (or any other color) no matter what I try. Neither picture wallpapers nor tiled wallpapers appear. I've included the hijack-this log below.

Suddenly one day this black box appeared and stated SPYWARE INFECTION, also the entire screen behind it is blue. But most importantly of all is the run cmd function. The screen C:WINDOWSsystem32cmd.com comes up and there is this ridiculous long code of some sort with smily faces, spades, and all kinds of other characters that I am not familiar with. Secondly, there is a sub screen below this one that reads 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem.

I pointed it (browsed to) Windows/Web/Wallpapers but it STILL insists on my pictures included there! And there is no obvious, clear cut way to change it, I have to google all over the place to find the damn answer! Pure wasted time. to remove that place and prevent it from ever showing up as a first choice for wallpapers?

Never had a problem with it and this new problem has just come out of no where.All background wallpapers leave a big gap down the left hand side of my screen. View 5 Replies View RelatedI forgot to turn my computer off last night at work and I came back to it this morning with a blue screen that says "Spyware Infection", so I ran Ad-aware and Microsoft Antispyware and between the both of them they caught lots of spyware. I've deleted them but the blue screen is still there. Another thing, when I click on IE shortcut I'm brought to a blue screen telling me that "my information is vulnerable..." and I have three links at the bottom of the screen and they all take me to the same website: spysheriff.com. I found a txt document in my local folder with spysheriff's site on it.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThere are two excellent spyware removal apps available and they are both FREE so there is no reason to not use them regularly. The two best apps there are for removing spyware are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU USE BOTH OF THESE APPS SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES AND VICE VERSA, YOU ARE NOT SAFE USING JUST ONE OF THEM. There is one other app that I HIGHLY recommend is for spyware prevention, SpywareBlaster. This app sets certain registry entries that prevent spyware from ever installing, it DOES NOT run in the background using any resources, you just set it and forget it. Once you have installed these three MUST HAVE apps you then need to update them and keep them up to date. I would recommend checking for updates weekly, it’s just like your antivirus app, you need to stay protected from the latest spyware out there. To update SpyBot just open the app from your start menu (use the advanced mode option) and select “search for updates” it will then show you what updates are available for download, always install all the updates. Another feature that SpyBot has is called “Immunize”, you will see an icon for it. Select the icon and under “Permanent Internet Explorer Immunity” select “Immunize” this works in the same way as SpywareBlaster in blocking new spyware. It also gives you the option of locking your hosts file against hijackers, I highly recommend using this option as well. To update Ad Aware just open it and select “Check for updates now”. For SpywareBlaster it is mostly the same, open it up and select “Check for updates” once you update this you then must select “select all” and then “Protect against checked items” so that the updates you just did take effect. Anything these apps find is spyware and should be removed, if you choose not to remove what is found then you have no one to blame if your pc crashes due to spyware or your privacy is invaded (including these companies stealing your credit card number and identity

So far I have tried to run Spybot S&D, Registry mechanic, ewido anti-spyware, Spyware Doctor and SpywareBlaster all of these programs seize when carrying out a scan and I have no option but to close the pc down with the power button. View 14 Replies View Relatedmy Mom's computer is a HP Pavilion, she's using Windows XP (the original version and she hasn't updated from Microsoft since. when exactly did dinosaurs roam the earth? ) About two weeks ago, every time that she reboots it locks up the computer and you can hear the motor running constantly. When you go to shut it down a window comes up and asks for you to wait or end task, and the error is "Device10 Notification". The ONLY thing that she has put in recently is the HP 4 in 1 Copy/Scan/Print, but that was, at least, two weeks before the problem started. There is YET another error message that appears every once in a while, it's for HP Imaging Device, and you have to end task to get it to shut down, but this isn't a constant problem like the device10 is.

These are my own builds and if someone wants a new PC, the price of a genuine Windows OS is included in the price and they are given the disk. It is because of Microsofts asinine activation feature and the fact that I have 4 desktops and 2 laptops that I use the cracked copy. Anyways, my girlfriends dad's (a cop )laptop recently had a hard drive failure, and because he bought it with Windows preinstalled(no disk) he needed an OS. He didn't know any better and when I went over there last night to check on his laptop, up pops the MS genuine notification that has recently gone around.

View 7 Replies View Relatedfor a while when we first turn on our laptop it won't work, it is not responding. However, the windows task manager does not show anything not responding. My only way to fix this problem is to tell the computer to restart & I will then get a "not responding" message saying that "socket notification sink" is not responding. I tell it to end the program & restart & I sometimes have to go through this over & over & over again until the computer is responding. The biggest part of the problem is that I do not know what the heck "socket notification sink" is! And if I do a search for it nothing comes up & I don't see it in the programs in the control panel & I never see it on the "processes" tab of the windows task manager.Can anyone help? What is it, do I need it, how do I deal with this? I just need the frickin' computer to work when I turn it on, I don't have time for this some days!

There is a sound icon in front of, New Mail Notification, & the Chimes sound (which I chose) does play when I press the test button to the left of Browse. BUT, it does NOT play when new mail arrives and Outlook Express is open or minimized. All other program default sounds do play. Also, with Outlook Express open, I clicked on Tools, Options, General, and there IS a check mark in front of, Play Sound When New Message Arrives.Is there something else that I should do to make the Chimes sound play when new email arrives?
