Get Rid Of Unread E-mails
Feb 4, 2007I was helping my mate set up MSN live messenger on her compaq laptop running Windows XP media centre and logged into both live messenger and windows messenger with my hotmail address. She has subsequently logged into both with her yahoo address. However, whenever she starts up her pc, the windows sign in screen tells her she has x amount of unread e-mail messages, and refers to my email address.windows referring to my e-mail address at the startup screen

Sep 21, 2006I have a Blackberry (BB) and in our firm we have MS Exchange server 2000. So when an e-mail arrives, it is sent to my BB too. But when the e-mail is written in cyrillic I cannot read it. I found out that when the message is sent as Unicode (Tools --> Options --> Mail Format --> International Options. For MS Outlook) I can read it, otherwise - I can't. But I cannot tell everyone that writes mails to me to do it that way, because not everyone is using Outlook. So is there any option in Exchange that will convert every e-mail that has arrived in Unicode, and that way I could read all cyrillic e-mails on my BB?

Nov 15, 2007I had a complete computer failure & got a new one. Qwest-MSN helped w/ reloading all my preveous emails. Then I began having error messages that "OE has encountered unknown problems & has to shut down" or it would just freeze up for no reason. Emails were coming in in duplicats. (2 of every email in the inbox) (*This problem is still happening)
They had me delete my account & start over several times. Then they forwarded me all my emails they had on their system. OVER 1,000 BEGAN COMING IN! NONE TO THE INBOX! (hidden file) We put a stop to it and began searching where these were being hidden. Since getting the new computer I have not been able to get Spell Check in my OE 6.0 I am told 6.0 does not have this. I had it before changing computers and I used 6.0 then also.

Jun 18, 2007my Mom's computer is a HP Pavilion, she's using Windows XP (the original version and she hasn't updated from Microsoft since. when exactly did dinosaurs roam the earth? ) About two weeks ago, every time that she reboots it locks up the computer and you can hear the motor running constantly. When you go to shut it down a window comes up and asks for you to wait or end task, and the error is "Device10 Notification". The ONLY thing that she has put in recently is the HP 4 in 1 Copy/Scan/Print, but that was, at least, two weeks before the problem started. There is YET another error message that appears every once in a while, it's for HP Imaging Device, and you have to end task to get it to shut down, but this isn't a constant problem like the device10 is.

May 7, 2006Like alot of people that build their own systems or constantly upgrade and switch out parts, I use a cracked copy of Windows XP on some of my builds. These are my own builds and if someone wants a new PC, the price of a genuine Windows OS is included in the price and they are given the disk. It is because of Microsofts asinine activation feature and the fact that I have 4 desktops and 2 laptops that I use the cracked copy. Anyways, my girlfriends dad's (a cop )laptop recently had a hard drive failure, and because he bought it with Windows preinstalled(no disk) he needed an OS. He didn't know any better and when I went over there last night to check on his laptop, up pops the MS genuine notification that has recently gone around.

May 17, 2007for a while when we first turn on our laptop it won't work, it is not responding. However, the windows task manager does not show anything not responding. My only way to fix this problem is to tell the computer to restart & I will then get a "not responding" message saying that "socket notification sink" is not responding. I tell it to end the program & restart & I sometimes have to go through this over & over & over again until the computer is responding. The biggest part of the problem is that I do not know what the heck "socket notification sink" is! And if I do a search for it nothing comes up & I don't see it in the programs in the control panel & I never see it on the "processes" tab of the windows task manager.Can anyone help? What is it, do I need it, how do I deal with this? I just need the frickin' computer to work when I turn it on, I don't have time for this some days!

There is a sound icon in front of, New Mail Notification, & the Chimes sound (which I chose) does play when I press the test button to the left of Browse. BUT, it does NOT play when new mail arrives and Outlook Express is open or minimized. All other program default sounds do play. Also, with Outlook Express open, I clicked on Tools, Options, General, and there IS a check mark in front of, Play Sound When New Message Arrives.Is there something else that I should do to make the Chimes sound play when new email arrives?

In my case the "repair" was to delete an important folder (which I fortunately had a backup of.) After Windows comes up, there is NO NOTIFICATION that this has occurred.So if your drive is slowly going bad and you don't babysit your reboots (and make sure you can read fast), Windows may be deleting your data and you will never know about it. Over time your backups may become corrupted, unless you are diligent with archival backups.

Last few days when trying to shut down I'm getting an error message "Device 10 Notification" with the option to cancel or end task. Either choice leads me to the same issue that the program is not responding. Sometimes the computer goes ahead and shuts down anyway, other times I have to shut down without ending the program.
