Video controller These all have the yellow ? markMy mother board is a Gigabyte technology m61p-s3.I have been to the Gigabyte website but dont have a clue what to download.
On some websites I get an error message which shows up in the status bar.it is an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle. When this happens, I can't access the website. I have tried several suggestions from Microsoft, but I just seem to trade one problem for another. This first showed up when I "upgraded" to SP2.

I tried to play media player but it did not detect the sound card, it said:error id = 0x80040256 remedy id = 0x00000000 I went into device manager and in 'other devices' there was a yellow question mark and then all those devices (ethernet, multimedia, pci, sm bus control, serial bus control, video control) had yellow question marks next to them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just did a complete reinstall of my win XP pro O.S. Computer is working fine. Only one minor problem, I have a yellow question mark in Device Manager under Other devices, Ethernet Controller. Under Network Adapters, I have my USB Cable Modem. Also, under start/control panel/network connections/local area connections - USB Cable Modem. In the past, when I did a complete reinstall of the O.S., I have installed the Broadcom 4401 Integrated NIC driver that came with my Dell resource CD. I would not have a yellow question mark. But then when I installed the USB Cable Modem, I would then disable the Broadcom, since I didnt need it anyway. At this stage I would not have any yellow question marks. This time, since I wasnt using the Broadcom, I did not install it and only installed the USB cable modem. But now I have the yellow question mark. Since the computer is working fine, do I just ignore this yellow question mark issue or is there another workaround. Dell Dimension model 2350.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell 4600 running XP Home and all my USB ports have suddenly stopped working. When I go to the device manager and expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers, each of the Intel(R) 8280 1EB VBB Universal Host Controller has a yellow exclamation mark beside them. When I check their status this is the message: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19). I was not in the registry prior to this, so I don't know how it got damaged
I tried this: Click Uninstall, and then click Scan for hardware changes to load a usable driver ? no effect.
I tried this: Restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then select Last Known Good Configuration, which rolls back to the most recent successful registry configuration ? didn't fix the problem. Microsoft says that as a last resort, you can edit the registry directly ? but I not sure where and what to edit in the registry. If anyone can tell me what keys to edit in the registry I would very appreciative. I will do anything to avoid reinstall windows from scratch. I unfortuately didn't have system restore going so I cannot use that.
i am trying to delete the temp files in the windows/temp directory but they won't delete. It says a program is using them but even when i try and get rid of them in safe mode they won't delete, how can i get rid of them? Also when i try to run a panda online virus scan i click on the scan my computer icon and it does nothing but there is a little yellow exclamation mark on the bottom left of the window, is that why it isn't doing anything and if so, how can i fix it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two DVD drives connected to an XP desktop computer, however, they do not work. They appear in Device Manager under DVD/CD-ROM drives with a yellow shreik/exclamation mark preceding the listing The devices are also recognized in the BIOS setup. When I click on the device in Device Manager, I get the message"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)". One of the devices previously worked correctly. In fact, I completed a clean install of XP using it. Just what does the error message mean Does it mean that the devices are faulty & need to be replaced

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy PC recently started to really slow down. I realized I had also recently had to re-install a DVD drive after it just disappeared and that I might have an IDE issue.I uninstalled all the controllers as recommended on a separate thread. There were 3 Primary and 3 Secondary despite the fact I only have 2 Hard drives and 2 DVD drives. This did the trick and my PC is now booting like it used to but I'm concerned that it still thinks I have 3 of each IDE controller. Surely I should have 2 of each. Does this sound right? I'm concerned that the problem will re-occur if I don't properly fix it. I've had problems with DVD drives disappearing before, though not for a while.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm having lots of troubles with USB 2.0 support. My mother board is a ASUS P5GD2 Premium, which only has USB 2.0 ports but my Windows XP SP2 keeps popping up this error! I have some drivers, but they don't install because XP SP2 should already support USB 2.0. Maybe the cables that connect the USB ports are the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a Thrustmaster Dual Power 4 game pad, and bought a Logitech Rumblepad later. I like the Rumblepad better, and want to consider it my "first string" controller. But if I go into say, Nba Live 2005, and go to choose controllers, no matter what I do, the thrustmaster is on the top of the list, and the logitech is on the bottom. All the old posts talk about choosing Preferred device in the control panel. By running DxDiag, I can see that setting something as the Preferred Device assigns it Controller ID 0. But I also see that the order of the Controllers, as recognized by most games, is the same as the order listed in the game controller control panel, and is completely unrelated to which device is "controller id 0" and "preferred device." For example, I set the logitech as preferred device, and plugged in the thrustmaster and also a gamepad pro.

I tried the external hard drive in another XP desktop and it works fine. I have a USB mouse that worked fine so the port was OK. I tried reinstalling the external hard drive several times and tried to use another external hard drive that I verified worked on another computer but that also would not install. I broused your forum and tried the registry patch.

Now I can't install the USB controllers either.
I have installed this OS on a new Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX150 S4. Now I want just to use this Server as a server on a Workgroup. But the OS insists that it should be the Domain Controller. And then it just shuts it self down. Below is a log from the event viewer. Just don't really want to configure the entire Lan from workgroup to Domain.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried uninstalling the USB controllers from the Device manager restarting my computer, and waiting for the pc to re-install the devices itself. Unfortunatly, nothing happens. It DOES find the devices, it DOES reinstall everything, but when i plug in even the mouse, i get the same error msg. The usb ports are named "Unknown Devices" and when i check their properties, the have no drivers installed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Data Transfer status on my HDDs was PIO mode and I wanted to make it DMA so that my access speeds become faster. All I did was update my Primary IDE Drivers. They got updated and DMA mode was enabled. But during this I dont know what happened, but my device manager no longer displays Universal Serial Bus Controllers. The entire thread has disappeared (it doesent show up even when I do "Show hidden devices").

It's XP Home with SP3 installed.

With all the default devices enabled in bios, random irq/driver irq not less than or equal BSOD's. Disabled on board FDC, still bsods. Disabled onboard LAN, still bsods. Disabled IDE controllers, still BSOD's. I've tried a pcie and pci card, still bsods. Tried SATA 3&4, still BSODs. I replaced my USB keyboard/mouse with an old ps/2 keyboard and mouse, unplugged my usb headset, and it hasn't crashed since.

This is the only two partitions on that physicl drive. I have sucessfully moved the 3 files to a floppy A: drive and can boot from the a: drive. I also have them on the C: drive as well. I would like to boot from these 3 files on the C: drive so that the D: drive can be cleaned out. And all of windows stuff is on the c: drive where it belongs. I did disk management and can not set the partition C: "Boot" marked drive and the Partitioned G: "System" marked drive to active or anything. It does not show on the drop menu for the C: drive and it is greyed out on the drop down menu G: drive. I cant even change the drive letters of the G: drive.
