I have Windows XP Home edition on my desktop with a logitech RX300mouse.My problem is when trying to move the point around the screen the mouse point bounces all over the screen, I therefore can not do any drag and drops.A simple movement across the screen can take me several tries to get to the place I want.
View 6 RepliesI have a dell lattitude d800, and my mouse pointer automatically goes to the upper left hand corner. i've plugged an external mouse and i get the same problem. i don't have any spyware - or viruses - as i've ran adaware, spybot, and microsoft antispyware. i've also ran Norton antivirus - and none of the three have detected maliciuos sw or viruses. i don't have any other problems w/the machine. i've uninstalled the default drivers, and reinstalled them.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt seems like ever since the first xp pro installation i made on this computer i have had nothing but problems. every time i turn on my computer, i see normal computer information before the windows screen, when the windows screen comes, the loading bar freezes at a certain point. It will sit at that point until i restart the computer by the button on the tower. Once it happens once, it will continue to happen until i reinstall windows using the cd. After i reinstall, it will boot up fine, but next time i restart my computer it starts all over.

symptoms just before issue - was not able to run use some system features - utility to turn off the display, utility to bring up battery info - everything was working fine before this
what i've tried:
boot to Last Known Good Configuration - resulting in the same blue screen
boot to Safe Mode / Safe Mode with networking / Safe Mode with comman prompt - resulting in blank (black) screen with "Safe Mode" in the corners and moveable mouse test the hardware (hard drive / memory etc.) via build in PC Doctor - all seems to be working
i am able to use bootable XP CD from other machine to get into Recovery Console
i am able to boot to simple live XP using BartPE-XPE usb key and access the hard drive
My computer is stuck on the boot screen, the mouse is lit up as to be working the keyboard flashed its lights as it always does when you boot but then everything seems to stop there. the screen is stuck on the boot screen the keyboard doesnt seem to work (lights are gone and wont come back on.) the lights on the back of the computer (the yellow and green ones) are all yellow but one. The C light is green. they are a steady color. Not blinking. A,B,D are all yellow.

It will boot upto the windows xp loading screen with the loading bar and then when it should move onto the log on screen it brings up a blank page with a small mouse cursor. When i boot it up in safe mode it comes up with a bigger mouse cursor. I have tried pressing control alt delete and buttons like space bar to see if they work but still nothing.

Can only get to the welcome screen then keyboard and mouse wont work; both are usb of course as this Dell has no PS2 ports. I have loaded another copy of xp home and can boot into it ok and see the other installation ok too. From within this second copy of xp have run chkdsk and also have run chkdsk from (2nd XP Home CD) recovery consul.

When i checked in device manager everything looked ok but i could not access the mouse properties in the control panel also when i tried a spyware scan it kept crashing as soon as it found a infection.
So i formatted the hard drive to NTFS and tried reinstalling windows it got halfway though and i got a stop error message (Blue screen of death). IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP: 0x0000000A (0xFFBE0000, 0X00000001, 0X00000000, 0X80825254)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just recently was having some Internet Explorer problems so I uninstalled Windows Service Pack 2 and then reinstalled it, but now for some reason my MX510 (mouse) isn't working with Service Pack 2. The mouse is optical so I see the red light on when its booting up, but once it gets to the Windows XP Professional screen it shuts off. Right now I'm on Service Pack 1.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy computer (Dell Dimension 2350 running Windows XP SP2, no new hardware or software added in years) turns on, asks me if I want to 'Start Windows Normally', 'Last Known Good Config' and 3 different Safe Modes. It doesn't matter which one I pick, it always starts the Windows splash screen, then goes to a black screen with my mouse pointer (which I can move, but cannot right or left click). Also, the keyboard controls don't seem to work, no ctrl+alt+del, nothing (though if I press shift 5 times it gives me the beep atleast letting me know the keyboard is working). Safe Modes do something a little different, but end up in the same place as the other modes. Safe mode will hang on Mup.sys for a long while before it goes to the black screen with the mouse pointer.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThrough out the day, I have my computer on. Many times... whether I am using the computer at that moment, or if I leave and come back later... my screen will be frozen. The mouse moves, but nothing on the screen can be clicked. Also, control alt delete works as well, so I have found that if I go into the applications tab and open a new task and open/refresh "explorer" everything will start working again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday my computer suddenly started getting slow, so I rebooted. When the machine boots, it's all fine, but just after the Windows loading screen, the screen goes black, and the only thing that's active is the mouse cursos which I can move. But I can't right click or anything etc.I can't bring up the Task Manager. I try loading in safe mode but it's still all black, with the expection that the text "Safe mode" is written around the black screen.So what I did was I got a Ultimate Boot CD and loaded from it. I managed to roll back my windows registry to 2003 (manufactor fresh), and now windows actually loaded and I didn't get the black screen anymore, however obviously it was all a complete mess having a registry from so long ago, so I backup rolled it back to the current again, and the black screen returned.
With that logic, shouldn't it be possible to do some tweaks to the registry to solve this issue? I'm a complete beginner and I barely even know the function of the registry. Everything i've tried so far i've just managed to google and follow step by step instructions, so bare with me. But judging from the tools in the Ultimate Boot CD, I can access the windows registry.So basically, where do I take it from here?
At completely random intervals(e.g. 2 minutes, 3 hours, sometime during the day/night), the computer 'locks me out' - the screen remains visible but the mouse is 'frozen', the keyboard will not function, any discs in their slots will not release.The system will restart with no apparent problem until the next lock out.I've had a systems check done at the local shop and they are fairly certain that the hardware is not causing the problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI consider myself at least a bit competent when it comes to XP and computers... but this problem has me puzzled. I've done tons of searches on google, various forums, microsoft database, etc... and have found some similar problems except that I can't get my taskmanager to become visible. It's there, I know it because I get the resize pointers around the taskmanager's box.
Also, when I start-up WinXP. It gets to the login screen but I can't see my login picture or buttons. I can click on them and enter my password, but when it logs in (the windows start sound plays) the whole screen is black except for the mouse cursor (I don't have a wallpaper, just a black background, so I can't really tell you if my "wallpaper" is still there).
I got a new computer and I have been having problems with my mouse. I have a simple optical wired mouse. During random times, my mouse click freezes, although my mouse can move and I can use the key board at this time, I cannot click or focus anything. To fix the problem I can control alt delete and exit the Task Manager, this fixes the problem.

Once it gets to the user screen for user selection both keyboard and mouse stop working, its either they stop working or the computer freezes, i am not sure. I used to use one a while ago (ZoneAlarm) and liked the way it worked, however, here's my question, how exactly does it protect the data that you SEND.I can understand that it would be protecting your computer from people who try to get onto your own computer, but I thought of it as somewhat like a brick wall, keeping those that you wanted out of your computer on the other side of the brick wall.Do firewalls protect the data that you send also? I was thinking of it being like (another goofy analogy, haha) lining a garden hose with steel tubing, so that way no one can come over and puncture the hose and steal your water from the hole. Can firewalls protect outgoing data, and not just incoming data and protect against incoming threats and attacks on your computer?

View 5 Replies View Relatedi'am trying to install oracle apps on my computer.i use winxp sp2, i have 80 gig hard and another one that is 120 gig.i use 97 gig partation to install the apps on it.i use program named mks toolkit that make windows like open source as linux and i use also visual c++ v6 the problem is when i try to install the apps an error occurred and i can't finish the installation the error is Free disk space on system returns zero: probable cause - mount point does not exist.this mean the partiaion is zero gig even it is 97 gig now i want to know how to creat mount point to this partition and the partiation is ntfs.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Plug and Play Software Enumerator failures. (XP SP2)I get an error 31 which says that it can't load the driver properly. However, the driver files (swenum.sys streamci.dll) are good as I got them from a functioning XP SP2 system. Also, when I enable bootlogging it says that it successfully loads swenum.sys.
However, in Device Manager, I get the exclamation point and error 31.
I don't have a good feeling about this. So yesterday, I went to bed fine, my computer was great. I leave it running usually. I wake up. I can use everything normally, that was opened. I didn't try to run a new .exe file. So I was using Firefox fine, and msn too. Then, I wanted to watch a video with media player classic, and I get an entry point not found error. Notibly I was concerned, but I figured it was just a corrupted file within the realm of the media player, not my computer. So, I decided to try and open up taskmanager. As soon as I do, this is the error I get ".The procedure entry point NdrtypgUnmarshall could not be located in the dynamic link library RPCRT4.dll." Also, something to note, is that if I click okay on the error, it just pops back up, so I can't get rid of it.
My cursor has also returned to the original version, (I'm using cursorXP). I went to system32 to check if I still had the .dll file, or if it had somehow been edited, and nope, it's still there, and it seems untouched. What on earth is going on? How can such a huge error pop up overnight without me doing anything? Also one more thing, some programs that are already open, such as AVG, will not give me an error when I try to run something within them, merely nothing will happen. I can't use my control panel, either.
Right a few week ago my computer crashed and i reinstalled window xp with sp2 with a cd and now the sp2 stop me installing my netgear wirless (WG111v2) adapter diver properly .so i want to uninstall it.i tried going to run (c:windows$NtServicePack Uninstall$spuninstspuninst.exe) it didn't work and because it is a flesh install i don't have a restore point to goback so what can i do?
