Microsoft Anti Spyware Found Malware / IBIS Toolbar
Sep 12, 2005
I have XP Home and Microsoft Anti spyware found some malware (IBIS Toolbar) that was removed but on rescans, it shows up again, but now located in the restore points. I believe that I have to turn off System Restore and reboot and then turn restore back on and do a new restore point.
There is a computer at home which is booting very slowly now. Besides doing the regular checks (anti-spyware/malware, HijackThis, etc.) I want to be able to look at a log (or a log viewer) after boot to know exactly what in the boot process is taking so long, what exactly is being run/loaded and how long it is taking. Is there a way I can see that in Windows? Or any reliable Freeware/Shareware tool?
I currently have Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite 6 & it is due to expire in about 8 days. I was wondering what others of you used for anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewalls etc.I have heard that sometimes it's not the best idea to use a complete package, like ZA internet security suite, for the whole lot You hear a lot of conflicting info about them all, I've heard that AVG is good, Norton isn't, someone said windows defender was good.
I've got a PC with Win XP SP2. I'm currently using Etrust antivirus and Windows Defender on it. But, I'm suspecting it's got virus and/or spyware that those two softwares are not detecting. Can anyone recommend me other good anti-spyware and antivirus software (preferably free)?
My PC is infected with some bad stuff and I'm not sure what to do. So far I have tried to run Spybot S&D, Registry mechanic, ewido anti-spyware, Spyware Doctor and SpywareBlaster all of these programs seize when carrying out a scan and I have no option but to close the pc down with the power button. I am pretty much at a loss as what to do next and was hoping one of you kind souls could help me. I am running xp.
The guy who carries out any repairs or adds/replaces any hardware on my system told me about a great new security program he had found titled Emsisoft Anti-Malware. I downloaded this yesterday and noticed a feature called Hijack Free which I thought was probably similar to the old Hijack This, anyway I did a scan then clicked on a button for an online analysis which reported that I had 35 Trojans.
I've been completely annoyed by idiot svchost.exe problems I have left Malware Bytes Anti-Malware running the whole night, foudn nothing, the next night, left the computer running AVG and nothing either everything with the latest updates and deepest/slowest scan I downloaded Advanced SystemCare 3.1.1, found some crap along my computer, repaired everything and then restarted. Everything seemed to work great (a noticiably better speed) and then svchost.exe error comes up again, I installed ServicePack 3 and the svchost.exe error keeps cooming up, everytime with a different error code and about 5-6 of them.
I get the Windows XP splash screen, then sometimes it takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes to boot up. I checked the startup folder and the services/.exes running during bootup. Nothing out of the ordinary, but maybe i do not know what im looking for.I know that it is NOT spyware/malware/viruses....just recently it has become slow and i have no installed any software or anything
Every time i load my IE up it changes my home page from yahoo to: http://safeiepage.com/. I have been hit with a dose of something bad on my pc. I know McAfee keeps telling me i need to uninstall some Generic PUP.c but i dont know how to do that! ive used ad-aware,mcafee vs,windows defender, cwshredder, and spysweeper, and nothing is helping.
Computer was loaded with spyware/malware etc. Got malewarebytes to run and it found 216 items EX) Trojan.Vundo.h, etc.
After removing what malewarebytes found, it said to restart the computer. Well upon restart, I now have ONLY the desktop background. No taskbar, no desktop icons. I can do a ctrl-alt-del lol. I can run new task to get online
I currently run PC-Cillin anti virus, and have Ad-Aware SE, Spybot - Search & Destroy, and SpywareBlaster to help keep my PC clean. I would like some suggestions on other programs that you might recommend, or if these would suffice to keep my PC clear of viruses, malware, and spyware.I would also like to know if anyone has any information about Registry Mechanic. Specifically if it is worth while in any way, as it was recommended to my by a friend.
I have a weird folder on the task bar that pops up and then won't go away. I'm sure it's related to a menu toolbar that I've created on the desktop (it's on autohide) If I boot up the pc it's not there, but if I click on the autohide toolbar to access a program, this wierd file appears on the task bar and won't go away. The funny thing is that I can't find out if it relates to one specific program. I've tried them all individually and some where along the line it' triggers this file. I've got Windows XP Pro with SP2. I've got Trend PC-cillin with spyware stopper installed. I've tried using Adaware SE but it hangs itself and it seems to be a problem that Lavasoft are trying to sort out
I've been using MS Anti-Spyware Beta 1 for several weeks. Recently, when trying to update, the program says it downloads and installs updates but when I check for future updates the same one supposedly already downloaded and installed shows up again. For example, I got to definitions 5729, but 5733 was but wasn't installed several times; and then it was 5735 the same. So I uninstalled the program and downloaded and reinstalled it. Now I have definitions 5725 and have tried without success to download and install 5735 several times. Anyone got any ideas what the problem might be? I also have Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, Bazooka, and Spyware Blaster.
A friend of mine has been having malware problems, and I want to shut down system restore and run Ewido in safe mode. My question is, when I shut down system restore, and then turn it back on when I'm done, does it kill all restore points? Will that be a problem? Can't I just create a new one if needed? And last, won't new ones be created automatically over time? I've never done this,so I would like to be sure before I do.I probably need to stay away from this before I make a bad situation worse. She does have Avast, Ewido, Spybot,CCleaner, and Spyware Blaster. The problem is, she doesn't update or run them.I updated everything she had and ran them and everything is much better, but still a little bit slow. I thought maybe running Ewido in safe mode might get some that might be hiding in system restore. Would like to know if this is safe to do Thanks......Maggie
AVG Anti-Spyware is "Grey" & Won't stay on task bar? I have AVG Anti-Spyware Free edition and I can't get it to stay on my task bar. When I run the spyware it will go on the task bar but its "Grey" instead of of the colorful icon it should be.I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still I get same results?
I ran some anti-spyware progams the other day and ever since, upon startup, I get an error message stating:"Error loading C:program filesWildTangentAppsCDAcdaEngine0400.dll The specified module could not be found." Is this file critical? How can I either repair this or elominate the error message? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am using Windows XP, Explorer 6.At times I can hear something running and slows down or even stops what ever I am doing at the time.Sometimes just for a couple seconds but sometimes longer.Last night it ran for a longer period of time so I went Ctr/Alt/delete processes.I found that the svchost.exe system memory usage was running around 50,000 and normally it is around 19,500.I do not have any scans set to run automatic and the only thing that I have running all the time is Super Anti Spyware.
I decided to try the Avira Personal Free Anti-Virus on my computer. Well, in the main inferface it only says that anti-virus is on, but i dont see anything about anti-spyware on. However on the website it says the free version gives anti-spyware so I am guessing in the program when it says Anti-Virus, it means anti-virus and anti-spyware right? On the website i saw it did say is gives both. Please help as if it has no anti-spyware, then i wont use it.
The system process "c:windowssystem32services.exe terminated unexpectedly with the status code 1073741819" then the computer would reboot. I have run spyware scans, virus scans and adware scans and removed all the spyware and adware tha was found. There was nothing found using Microsoft Malware remover Tool. I attempted to repair the XP install and that is when the blue screen with the stop code named in the title appeared when I rebooted. Is or has anyone else had and resolved this issue? If so please let me know how.
when out of no where, I received those weird progams on my PC which are those fake Virus scanners and such. i then deleted it from the source, and ran my Nortan scan and my spysweeper, and they found nothing wrong with my pc. Now, the PC will NOT let me go to "important" sites. For example, Bank of America, Paypal, anti-virus sites, Ebay, etc. But will let me go to sites like Myspace or forums. I had my favs on my toolbar as tiles so its easier to access them, i had about 10 of them, and now only 5 remain after the whole thing happened, and the 5 that were removed were "important" sites. Almost every thing on my tool bar was removed, including File, Edit, View, Tools, and such. My search engine is still displayed though.
I tried to start it up and it takes forever to load. It takes a couple of minutes to open any of the icons on the desktop too (Mozilla, Word). I tried to clean up as best I could. I ran some spyware programs and antivirus and nothing too much showed up -- no viruses. It takes so long to run these programs that I go off and do other stuff and come back hours later and the scans are still running! Is there anything that you can recommend to get the laptop running as it should?
My HP Pavilion a1530n Windows XP D820 Processor 1024 MB Memory 250 GB Hard Drive Desk Top Comp is under attack and locked down unable to function due to "Antivirus Soft". I did a search "How to get rid Of" and was given suggestion to download XDelBox to my desktop do a scan and follow instructions. I came to my Laptop because nothing is working on desktop downloaded to a flash memory stick and dropped it to desktop. Still unable to click and function a scan..
I have found in many places on my computer files that are called sharaza is it garbage malware or what ever? How do i get rid of it. I am running wxp sp2
When my Norton Internet Security 2005 runs a disk drive scan it locates a file it identified as Spyware in the Windows Directory. The file name is symentra .exe. I've currently blocked access to the Internet for this file but when it tries to access it just keeps trying relentlessly. Does anyone know if I need this file or is there a way to delete it?
Evidently, the vic32.dll was removed when I removed some adware/spyware that had infected my PC. I have since re-downloaded the vic32.dll, but do not know where to locate it. Can someone tell me in what folder the vic32.dll should reside?
i been noticing my pc not running as smoothly lately so i decded to run a panda activescan virus scan and it camse up with 5 spyware files and 17 rootkits/hackertools here will be my HJT log and my Panda Log Can you please tell me everything that definately needs to be removed and just some things that i should remove for some reason. thanks what could be the cause of all this spyware/rootkits?,and also what startup items need to be removed,
I was running The Cleaner for the first time and it found several files to delete that I can't seem to find on my system. It shows them to be temp files but I like to be sure so I went searching for them. They're not visible. I've enabled the see all files so it should be there. But it's not. I did however find these files and am wondering why they would be found under IE5 which I haven't used now since the rebuild. And I don't think that was even under this hard drive! Is it safe to let it delete, or is that stuff I shouldn't delete? C: Documents & Settings: User: Local Settings: Temporary Internet Files: Content.IE5: 3I1TVRX8, 4NM0HAS5, 7D8UQMOE, index.dat
Also I'm concerned by this message that keeps coming up saying Browser Help Objects have been detected - The following BHO has been added to your system: {BDF3E430~B101~42AD~A544~FADC6B084872} and I can either remove it or keep it. I ran a program called BHODemon to check it out and it found several BHO's but they were all legit. Could this all just be from a conflict from having SpywareGuard and Spybot both on my machine? Spybot seem to be going crazy asking if I want to change things. I can't stop them from popping back up when I close one another comes up. The error messages are always different too which is really confusing.
