Weird Toolbar File - PC-cillin With Spyware Stopper

I have a weird folder on the task bar that pops up and then won't go away. I'm sure it's related to a menu toolbar that I've created on the desktop (it's on autohide) If I boot up the pc it's not there, but if I click on the autohide toolbar to access a program, this wierd file appears on the task bar and won't go away. The funny thing is that I can't find out if it relates to one specific program. I've tried them all individually and some where along the line it' triggers this file. I've got Windows XP Pro with SP2. I've got Trend PC-cillin with spyware stopper installed. I've tried using Adaware SE but it hangs itself and it seems to be a problem that Lavasoft are trying to sort out

I have XP Home and Microsoft Anti spyware found some malware (IBIS Toolbar) that was removed but on rescans, it shows up again, but now located in the restore points. I believe that I have to turn off System Restore and reboot and then turn restore back on and do a new restore point.

I noticed today that the icons in some of my folders (not the desktop icons) look strange. The text where the file name is--some of them have blue text and others have the usual black text.What the heck is this, and what do I need to do to fix it?

I want to stop the language toolbar from appearing on my toolbar. I have deselected on the list of toolbars but it seems to reappear: how can I have it not showing, and stay not showing.

I have multiple partitions on my HD so that I can have things like the OS and the page file on separate partitions for ease of defrag etc. (OK, haven't done this before and am not sure how smart it was after all)Anyway, I decided to move "My Documents" folder from the C drive to a much larger partition to save fragmentation on C. No big deal, it's easy to do.But here's the kicker... once I'd created a My Documents folder in the larger partition, I decided to click on it and move it to the top of the list of folders, using the My Computer screen.

Okay, I guess I inadvertantly downloaded a zip file that I thought was something else but apparently it was Bundled with Spyware Everywhere, I've been spending the wee hours of the night attempting to remove this garbage but unfortunatly ISTsvc.exe and Hot as Hell and Bargain Buddy keep reinstalling even after I delete the Reg Entries etc. Also this is where my browser keeps getting Hijacked to "http://www.web--search.com/to.php?ID1=997&ID2=145248911&ID3=566146524954&ID4=0&ID5={677D98D5-F874-42EC-B42D-6CDCB0B549EA}" This other question is in relation to my parents puter That I plan on fixing later, They cant surf the net, something in the lower left of IE keeps flashing saying badurl.fhksadfs <------flashes too fast to read. Anyways....I'm going to attach my HiJackThis Log so that someone out the could better assist nme in this, how should I say......"Adventure".

I installed PC Cillin 2007 on my laptop today. After the program installed, it restarted the computer and came back to a blue screen. STOP: OX0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XF8B0B1B2, 0XF2D89C9C, 0X00000000)windrvNT.sys - Address F8B0B1B2 base at F8B06000, DateStamp 409f405c I restarted in Safe Mode but the computer will not let me uninstall PC Cillin using the Add/Remove Program option or the uninstall option in PC Cillins folder. Can somebody help me uninstall the program? Thanks.

When my Norton Internet Security 2005 runs a disk drive scan it locates a file it identified as Spyware in the Windows Directory. The file name is symentra .exe. I've currently blocked access to the Internet for this file but when it tries to access it just keeps trying relentlessly. Does anyone know if I need this file or is there a way to delete it?

I am curious to know if "choice.exe" is spyware. I ran one of my anti-spyware programs last night and it listed choice.exe and it's partner file in the Prefetch folder as spyware. I went online and it gave it an "8" on the threat level from 1-10. I quarantined both files to see if I could get some advise before deleting them.

I recently got my computer back from the computer fixing guy (because I killed the master boot record and I had no idea how to fix it) and it's a lot slower than it was before. It was a clean install of XP, and the only difference I can see is that the computer magician installed PC-cillin on it. It's not any specific program that's slow now either. Firefox, IE, Unreal Tournament, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Civilization 4, all the stuff I usually use is equally slow

There are two excellent spyware removal apps available and they are both FREE so there is no reason to not use them regularly. The two best apps there are for removing spyware are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU USE BOTH OF THESE APPS SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES AND VICE VERSA, YOU ARE NOT SAFE USING JUST ONE OF THEM. There is one other app that I HIGHLY recommend is for spyware prevention, SpywareBlaster. This app sets certain registry entries that prevent spyware from ever installing, it DOES NOT run in the background using any resources, you just set it and forget it. Once you have installed these three MUST HAVE apps you then need to update them and keep them up to date. I would recommend checking for updates weekly, it’s just like your antivirus app, you need to stay protected from the latest spyware out there. To update SpyBot just open the app from your start menu (use the advanced mode option) and select “search for updates” it will then show you what updates are available for download, always install all the updates. Another feature that SpyBot has is called “Immunize”, you will see an icon for it. Select the icon and under “Permanent Internet Explorer Immunity” select “Immunize” this works in the same way as SpywareBlaster in blocking new spyware. It also gives you the option of locking your hosts file against hijackers, I highly recommend using this option as well. To update Ad Aware just open it and select “Check for updates now”. For SpywareBlaster it is mostly the same, open it up and select “Check for updates” once you update this you then must select “select all” and then “Protect against checked items” so that the updates you just did take effect. Anything these apps find is spyware and should be removed, if you choose not to remove what is found then you have no one to blame if your pc crashes due to spyware or your privacy is invaded (including these companies stealing your credit card number and identity

I'm experienceing problems running the internet. Each time I try connecting tho the Net, despite changing the default homepage which has been changed to c:secure32.html I get a warning message about spyware I have also run Spybot Search and Destroy and the Lavasoft Ad-ware and removed all of the critical objects.

My PC is infected with some bad stuff and I'm not sure what to do. So far I have tried to run Spybot S&D, Registry mechanic, ewido anti-spyware, Spyware Doctor and SpywareBlaster all of these programs seize when carrying out a scan and I have no option but to close the pc down with the power button. I am pretty much at a loss as what to do next and was hoping one of you kind souls could help me. I am running xp.

In display properties I can select not to display My Documents & Network Places on desktop; however if I choose not to “Display Desktop Icons and select “Desktop Toolbar� they show up in the tool bar. What is the solution to this long standing bug in Windows.

Not a serious problem, just an annoyance. One day, I started my computer, and the Language Bar was activated on my tool-bar. I turned it off, but then next time I restarted my computer, it was there again. Basically, any time that I restart my computer, I have to close the language bar.

I recently noticed that there is a thin bar above my toolbar on the bottom of the screen.It was never there before. Ok, Im DESPRATE for help right now, and im going to explain my whole situation which is grim
I have a SONY VAIO 2.53 GHZ P4 Processor, 512 RAM, Windows XP pro (not so valid edition) 2 year old Comp. And I have 2 hard drives both 200GB, C: (windows and programs) D: video editing files...
I have a project to turn in TOMORROW... I could get in Big trouble and Fail a class if i dont get this done TONIGHT
SITUATION:
Last Night I noticed when I was editing that some of my avi exports were all distorted and fragmented... So i figured "I havent EVER ran defrag (stupid me) on this hard drive maybe I should defrag it" So I looked into a defrag program called "diskeeper" I defragged C: (windows drive) and attempted to defrag D:.... I came to my comp and discovered an error that just said failure with the drive or something... After that I could not access (D I restarted, diskcheck did not work, and I dont want to do system restore... I posted on another websites forum and someone said I probably went over the 137GB limit... I think when I went over the 137GB limit, it possibly overflowed over some kind of boot files or something that lets windows read the disk i dont know (not that techincal with computers)So i looked into that, and I have an ATA card... and Windows NO service pack XP pro... Ive heard things about having a 48 bit bios or something... And after installing WINDOWS XP SP1... I try to get on my computer and i load windows

This just started happening today. When I minimize any app that I am using, it doesn't show up on the toolbar with Start in the bottom left corner. Only way I can see what's been minimized is to open Windows Task Manager.Can anyone please tell me how to fix this?

I want to have the hijack this link because my yahoo toolbar had been replaced by something called freepod. These popup windows would come and it would be saying another toolbar was installing itself without my downloading it. Am using XP, and noticed problems after the automatic update to IE8, which happened for me on 7/8. When we tried to use IE8, the toolbar had disappeared. I have no room on the bar to right click it, because it has a Google search window on the right side. In addition, IE doesn't even show in Windows Task Manager as an application when the browser is open--only as a process. I was able to uninstall IE8 (after uninstalling SP3) and go back to IE7, but it has the same issue--no toolbar. I tried the Fixit offered by Microsoft (50157) for this problem, but it did nothing. I tried doing a regedit to delete the ITBarLayout value under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/IE/Toolbar/Shellbrowser (although it wasn't specifically labeled ITBarLayout, but was the only entry with a value, sorry I haven't worked with the registry much). I was able to do a successful System Restore to 7/5, but that did nothing. I am at a loss--should I try to reinstall IE8? SP3 first?
Besides this, since the System Restore my Norton Internet Security 2009 has an error in the browser protection, and I am unable to download the fix for that because IE won't stay open when I try to download the Norton Removal Tool. My mom has gotten the same browser problem, so I think something happened to both of us through the automatic update to IE8. She is also on XP.

System running fine now save for one thing -- my desktop page is a complete blank. It takes ages to load and then I see nothing but the desktop picture. No icons, no McAfee boot, and no toolbar. Everything has to be run from the task manager. Recently my lady, who uses the other desktop, doesn't even have a desktop picture -- it just comes up blue. She thinks she once saw a message about lack of memory.

Just installed Windows XP, and I can't remove or hide the toolbar or the address bar from Explorer not Internet Explorer. When I click on View/Toolbars, both Standard Buttons and Address Bar are checked and disabled, meaning I can't un-check them. How can I un-check them? There must be some registry hack that they did to prevent us from hiding the toolbar. I'm not sure if this is related, but in Internet Explorer7, I can't seem to customize the toolbar? Again, when I right click on the toolbar, I select Customize Command Bar, and the Add or Remove Commands menu item is disabled.
