Some dell driver update that was done thorugh my automatic microsoft updates changed my display. I have tried going and changing the settings in the control panel under display, but I can't get it to look like it use to.

Everything WAS fine until I installed Windows SP2 onto my computer, and now my CRT monitor (Samsung 763MB) has been blurry; like when a TV signal thats not coming in very well, a faded double, regardless of smoothing being set to ClearType or Standard, this ghost shadow wont go away. Ive reinstalled the monitors drivers (I downloaded a new copy even though it was the same version, so I know my driver install wasnt corrupt. I have half a mind already to uninstall SP2
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is a work laptop that I bring home .The computer is normally "registered" on the work domain, but I was doing a VPN-related test for something else where I thought I needed to be off the network (complicated to explain but not related to my current problem.
What I did specifically was:
1 - Right click on the My Computer icon to get to the Computer Name tab.
2 - unclicked the domain button and clicked the workgroup button for group HOME (this required me to "login" with my work username/password
3 - got the message that I had to restart to take effect, which I did.
I have a 1terrabyte drive and I want to get my two older drives out of the tower. I made some partitions, I copied the c: drive contents to r: and I made r: active. But it won't boot when I romove c: as it doesn't see netdlr. Or is it netldr? LOL. At any rate, maybe part of the problem is that r: is now r:c:windows and not r:windows. But it took forever to copy this drive to r: and I don't want to do it again.I am using Cobian backup by the way.

I dont know what file I must of deleted, but is there anyway I can download the driver or something to make it so that it can be set on opitions that are higher?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled XP Pro with SP1 on my computer today. Everything is working well except when my desktop loads the actual display is about an inch to the right on the screen. If I go into properties and change/apply the screen resolution from 800 x 600 then back to 1024 x 768 it realigns and all is well. I would just prefer to not have to do that each time I restart windows.

I disconnected Zonealarm and it still happened. I tried it on my wireless laptop with vista and it downloaded fine. What's up.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI reformatted a laptop and install XP for someone as they were having a lot of problems with it and I thought this would be the best way to go as alot of program stopped working. Anyway, after installing it, I still found that I couldn't installed the games he claimed were working before something went wrong and I determined it was the graphics card. I was even more sure when I noticed how poor the refresh rate was (scrolling up/down on web pages and playing games).
So I went to device manager to find out what the card was and install the latest drivers (he doesn't have the drivers for sound/video). But display adapters are not shown in device manager and I went through display -> settings -> advanced and it didn't tell me what card or driver was in there, all the information wasn't there. So any idea's as to how I can work out what card is in this laptop?
I really need help with this one. My standby mode is greyed out and on top of that it says my intel display adapters aren't working proberly in device manager. So what should i do im not really good with this tech stuff. Do i uninstall them or what because i have no idea how to get them back and i REALLY do not want to mess up my computer. Any help would be GREATLY appriciated thanks. And the intel adapter or driver came with the comp. Ive had this computer for about 9 months.

After my last fresh install of XP, occasionally when I open a folder it opens as a tiny rectangle in the upper right corner. I have tried to resize the window, then exit, it's fine for a while, then the little bugger makes a reappearance. I've been through Folder Options, TweakUI, and if the info's there then I hust have missed it.I have several installs of XP, this is the first appearance of this issue. I could also just chalk it up to the 'PCnality' of the machine.Hardware is Pentium M 2.0,1 gB RAM, 7200 RPM 80 Gb HDD, Radeon 9600, Asus M6N homemade laptop.

I right click the desktop go to programs, then under the Appearance tab I can only get the looks change by doing it myself, like in 'Windows Classic" I try to change it to "Windows XP Style" but when I click 'OK' or 'apply' the PC freezes. I have Windows XP on a DELL. I tried to download the display monitor driver for E772C. When I tried to follow the instructions after downloading which told me to follow the following path: Right click on the background. Go to properties which pulls up display properties. Click on the Settings tab. Click on the Advanced button. Click on the monitor tab. Then it said to click on Properties but is grayed out so I still cant change the color to more than 4 bits.

To start with I'll list the problems: On boot loader random $ and & signs appear with a red/green character background On same screen some chars change to others. In windows there are random discoloured pixels everywhere (although the is a sort of pattern to it. This happens when running apps, and the pixels will slowly bleed through on new pages/screens until at full intensity. Games that worked fine the day before now have graphics problems rendering them unplayable. It's not the screen, I connected an external monitor and it showed the same problem. I don't think it's the video card because of the problems at bios (before the video drivers are loaded.) this is my only decent computer and I can't afford to replace it. Screenshot attached. Notice the pink pixels on the white parts.

Every time he loaded the game, it was illegible. I have Windows XP Home SP2 and yesterday when I started up the computer the task bar and the top of a window is displayed like a windows me theme and not XPs clean design.
