View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using toad for oracle development. Whenever i perform any operation in toad, it goes to an ip address to resolve the database server name. That IP address was previously used as our dns server but no more exists in our network. I flushed by dns using ipconfig /flushdns commad but unable to get ride of this IP address. Also I have reinstalled my oracle client and toad but that IP address is alwayes there.
Can any body suggest me some way to find out where this entry exist in windows DNS setting.
My host PC (my desktop) is running an ASUS P5PE-VM with 1gig DDR PC3200 Crucial RAM, has a Intel DualCore E2180 @ 2GHZ. I use a dial-up connection, and even though it is dial-up, my connection speed averages from 52Kbps to 54.3Kbps. So its actually pretty good for dial-up. My OS is Win XP wit SP2. I think that pretty much covers the important basics. My client PC (my laptop) is an ACER Aspire 3100 w/ 512MB DDR2 It has an AMD Sempron 3200 @ 1.6GHZ w/512KB of L2 Cache. It also has an 802.11 b/g wireless Lan. I installed a wireless card (Belkin Wireless G desktop card) in my desktop (host) and set up an ad-hoc network between the two. Basically I set up a wireless network without a router. I've done this before and had no problem, however this time I cannot connect to the internet using the client (my laptop). Everything appears to be in order, ICS is enabled on the host, Firewall in configured, communication between the two is there, I verified by pinging both IP's using ipconfig. The host is able to connect to the internet and browse with out no problem. its just the client I am haveing trouble with. Could it be a DNS problem? When I open IE on the client it just displays the 'cannot display web page', I even tried pinging the web page and am successful in that, it just wont display the web page. Am I missing something?

We were getting a message about not being able to resolve host name. After disabling firewalls and setting up port triggering for 3389 we cannot get past trying to connect. It just hangs there and goes nowhere. The other computer has XP home and is asking for assistance from a XP prof compter behind a router but has port triggering enabled for port 3389 even though it not needed.

Okay so, i've been trying all night to install SP3 on this thing but every time I get this error "An Internal Error Occurred" and it's driving me crazy. I installed a fresh Windows XP SP2 on it and uninstalled the few updates I did through windows updates. I've cleaned the registry. I've done everything it says to do here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949384. I've tried installing it from the Windows updates page, i've tried installing it through Automatic updates and i've even downloaded the full SP3 Package (also tried this in safe-mode). I've read every freaking forum about this error and took their advice. Nothing works........
I recently did a system repair after having problems with Windows starting up, and I need to re-install sp2 for programs such as iTunes to work. When I try running the update wizard, it gets to the 'collecting inventory' (I think that's what it's called) stage, and then stops with an "An Internal Error Occured" message. I bought a new WD Raptor 150GB as my main hard disk, my old 320GB Hard Disk that I used for my old install has been plugged into the second SATA port, and I have a 500GB Western Digital MyBook for extra storage and backup.Recently the new setup has been acting up worse than the old setup. These problems aren't regular but they occur in clumps -for example I would have to restart the system at least 4 times before I get a stable platformproblem includes the error message of General Host Services Has encountered an error etc along with the option to send an error report.
Sometimes its different programs that crash, including NOD 32, Media Center Receiver Service, CLI (which I think is something to do with my sound card) and other random programs including HMI, SVCHOST. When one or all of these programs crash one after the other, the entire system slows down and becomes practically inoperable. Invoking task manager doesn't help either as it takes a good 10 minutes to appear.
