I am trying to reinstal my WIN XP but when I reach the near end of "Installing Windows" at 9 minutes the setup won't go any further it looks like it is stuck on Registering Components. I don't get in errors or anything like in some other cases that i read. Here is a picture that might help resolving the matter.

Well I go through the usual steps until I get to registering components where it goes for about a minute and then restarts. I thought thats what its suppose to do so I wait and wait and it goes through the whole process over so I go through it about 10 times before I realize something is wrong. So I go on my brother's laptop and look up whats wrong and I try opening the comand prompt by pressing shift+F10 and then typing "control sysdm.cpl" to get to the system in the control panel

It goes fine for most of the installation but when it comes to the "Registering Components" part it gets about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way done and then just stops with 12-13 minutes to go. I've tried using the repair option, and totally reformatting again
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a gigabyte ga-ep43-ud3l motherboard, 2x1gb kingston hyper memory, 600w cool master PSU. 160gb Western Digital HD, core2 duo 2.8ghz e7400 processor. When i built i, it started up right away. When i tried to format the hard drive, when it said "setup is formatting" it gets stuck at 0%. What is the problem bcuz all my hardware is new? Ive tried switching the jumper, and the hard drive is new. Also, when i try to format it says 152625mb Disk 0 at id, o on bus, o n atapi(MBR). If anyone has a clue what is wrong, reply to my thread. I need to get this PC running!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows XP Professional and have been having problems for several weeks now. I got the dreaded blue screen... was on the phone with Microsoft tecs for 3 hrs one day and then 5 hrs another and they thought that they had it taken care of. They didn't do a total replace, just a repair so that I could backup some information I hadn't backed up yet. I was able to run windows XP Professional again but the tec told me that I needed to do all the updates. As soon as I updated to SP2 I got the blue screen again.
I did a repair with my cd and was able to get Windows XP Professional back up. As soon as I installed the updates and updated to SP2 and restarted I got the blue screen again.
I decided to format and reinstall instead of repair. I followed the instructions and it is now stuck on the screen where it says setup is formatting... 0%. What should I do next?
im now having some problem on my windows and would like to make a clean install but everytime it gets to 9%,it stucks. the file it is trying to copy is the msimsg.dll. i need to reset the computer to get rid of it.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems when i tried reverting from windows 7 back to Windows XP Home Edition. At first i was able to get to windows setup (Blue screen) when i had the disc and partitioned to install the XP Disc. The computer restarted and i get to "press any key to continue (with the disc)" and i do so and it says "set up is inspecting your computers hardware" and then screen turns black and nothing appears. When i take the disc out it says "Error Loading Operating System". I can't really do much of anything now. Only screen i can get to is f1 to the "bios setup utility".I have an HP a450n.. Really need help i been wanting to use XP again because windows 7 annoyed me because it lagged my games. it has ran windows xp before and worked very good as well as for the games.
View 5 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine gave me an HP Pavilion ze4400. It had Windows XP installed on it when he gave it to me. I moved out of the area and forgot to take the XP CD with me. I was having problems with picking up wireless networks using my USB wireless adapter. Uninstalling and reinstalling the program for the adapter didn't fix anything, in fact, it made it worse. So I thought I would try using an XP CD to correct the problems that way. I had no idea that XP CDs weren't all the same.I put the CD that I had for my IBM laptop in the HP and it started to install. View 13 Replies View RelatedA new 250 gig seagate SATA 7200.8 hard drive and a win xp home upgrade edition. enabled SATA in BIOS, connected SATA cable to SATA1 on mobo, BIOS didn't recognize the drive, connected to SATA2 and BIOS did recognize drive so I tried to partition and format using Seagate's DiscWizard from floppy. Things seemed to go fine until I got a message that format wasn't completed because of some error.I went ahead and tried to install from xp cd, loaded SATA drivers from floppy, cd started loading but then hangs up at "setup is starting windows"I've never used SATA before.

I'm building my first system from scratch, and have done fine up until the XP installation. This is by far the first XP installation I've done, so thought it would be a breeze. Not turning out that way.
It runs like normal until it gets to the part where it restarts and is supposed to resume/complete the installation. When it boots back up, it goes right back to the original Setup screen (Enter for setup, R for repair, etc). I've tried re-installing numerous times
My computer originally had windows xp home edition put on it, and i still have the certificate of authenticity that has my product key on it.I never got the windows cd with the computer so i downloaded a copy off the net and installed it, Its Windows XP Home Edition SP2.When i put in my product key now it says its invalid, is that because its SP2 instead of plain Home Edition? If so, is there a way to uninstall sp2 and sp1 so its just plain home edition so i can register it?and if not, is it even possible to get it registered with my old key if i contact microsoft? For free proffered, dont really feel like paying for the same thing twice.

Again, as per microsoft support kb 831430 Method 1 tried Run/msconfig/regsvr32 jscript.dll, etc doesn't work. Registering fails. Error 0x800004005. Even booted in safe mode so I could be THE administrator (as opposed to the computer administrator my user profile is already) and I got the same message. Tried the second way to register this with msconfig and expanding a file. I had tried this second part of Method 1 before and I think it might have worked, but when it came to registering the dll's, same error 0x800004005. So that failed.

It won't go past there to the agreement section...or anything else This system was a custom built computer, given to my mother-in-law about 3 years ago. The company has since gone out of business. It was built w/ XP Professional SP1 and has since been upgraded w/ SP2.Outlook express stopped working properly and would shut itself down as soon as it was opened. Then the dial-up connection would connect but no internet explorer pages would load.

I recently tried reinstalling windows 2000 thinking it would maybe help my computer. I ran the windows 2000 disk and chose the first option(the one where it doesnt clean out all my files). Now during "registering components" in the installation the loading bar seems to make no progress. I've left it on for a couple days now and it has shown no progress. I've tried restarting my comp but then it restarts the windows 2000 installation again and then the same problem
After my neighbour updated his computer with all the latest updates from Microsoft every time he switches his computer on a set of keys appear in the desktop taskbar prompting him to register windows. As he had no product key sticker anywhere on the computer case I downloaded keyfinder from Download.com it found the product key in seconds. but I tried to register windows but it keeps telling me on the windows registration page that this copy is already registered.He only has six days left to register, what happens if after the six days past he still cannot get a product key.
i was registering spyware doctor (pirately) but when i registered it required to reboot
then the problem started when i got the blue bar of windows xp moving then suddenly my pc restared itself then whenever it comes to the blue bar it gets restarted. and also i tried to make a windows MS DOS startup disk but it won't help i also uninstalled Spyware Doctor and quick heal internet security ( i did this in the directory services repair mode) i also performed chkdsk/:f

I've setup Windows 2003 fax services on a W2K3 server and shared the device. I've tested faxing from Word on my PC and it works fine.However, when other users try to install the fax client, the setup hangs asking for the fx* setup files. I've tried different XPSP2 CDs, copying the files to a local directory, making sure that the users have local admin rights (and even domain admin rights) but to no avail. The files are already in the system32 directory so in theory the setup doesn't even need to copy them. Even if I delete them, it doesn't work.Our corporate SMS team reckons that there isn't any policy which could

I started an upgrade for xp pro part way through the install I got a message "WatchDriverSigningPolicy.exe" no found I pressed enter then got another message "fake setup call himself instead original "setup.exe" ; setup abort!" now each time I reboot it starts to load xp then gives me the same message then press enter it then reboots.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI mistakenly launched XP Setup and want to know how to stop it from progressing further. I have another XP installed on another virtual disk. Rebooting from there allowed me delete the Setup files. Or so I thought ! The main XP installation however continues to try to launch Setup. Just about whatever I do, it ends in tears. My question is how do I stop XP on this disk from thinking it has to launch Setup? I dont want to reinstall XP, as that will involve a huge amount of work to recreate my environment.

I've lately had some problems with my win-xp (home) following installation/ un-installation of daemon tools that corrupted some registry files. After an unsuccesfull repair-instalation of xp, i re-installed xp onto the secondary partition of my hard drive (d:, the original instalation being on c. I was intending to format the c: drive, then instal a copy of xp-pro i have onto it
finally moving the files i want to keep back from the d: drive onto the c: drive.The problem i'm now having is on formatting i recieve the error message 'system partition is not allowed to be formatted', as it is the primary partition. Can i go about formatting this drive in partitions and proceed with the re-install without having to remove the files i have on the d: drive? How might i go about this?
I started up the computer, watched the BIOS detect the RAM, hard drive, etc, and then was greeted by a blank screen instead of the Windows boot screen. It proceeded though, and after a few seconds flashed to another black screen, this time displaying the cursor. I'm guessing this is the logon screen, but nothing displays but the cursor. (Note that the video card and monitor are both fine...I tried swapping them out just in case.)

I downloaded the installer from the MS Download center (it didn't appear in Windows Update). Is it safe to turn off the computer (since I can't close the installer), or should I let it sit for a while longer (it's been hanging for a few hours)?
