I formatted the drive and tried to reinstall XP. It goes fine for most of the installation but when it comes to the "Registering Components" part it gets about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way done and then just stops with 12-13 minutes to go. I've tried using the repair option, and totally reformatting again

Well I go through the usual steps until I get to registering components where it goes for about a minute and then restarts. I thought thats what its suppose to do so I wait and wait and it goes through the whole process over so I go through it about 10 times before I realize something is wrong. So I go on my brother's laptop and look up whats wrong and I try opening the comand prompt by pressing shift+F10 and then typing "control sysdm.cpl" to get to the system in the control panel

I recently tried reinstalling windows 2000 thinking it would maybe help my computer. I ran the windows 2000 disk and chose the first option(the one where it doesnt clean out all my files). Now during "registering components" in the installation the loading bar seems to make no progress. I've left it on for a couple days now and it has shown no progress. I've tried restarting my comp but then it restarts the windows 2000 installation again and then the same problem
i was registering spyware doctor (pirately) but when i registered it required to reboot
then the problem started when i got the blue bar of windows xp moving then suddenly my pc restared itself then whenever it comes to the blue bar it gets restarted. and also i tried to make a windows MS DOS startup disk but it won't help i also uninstalled Spyware Doctor and quick heal internet security ( i did this in the directory services repair mode) i also performed chkdsk/:f
now when the pc starts it comes to the blue bar and suddenly a blue screen appears and it says STOP 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF7A5747C, 0xF7A57178, 0x84469889)
I am trying to reinstal my WIN XP but when I reach the near end of "Installing Windows" at 9 minutes the setup won't go any further it looks like it is stuck on Registering Components. I don't get in errors or anything like in some other cases that i read. Here is a picture that might help resolving the matter.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy computer originally had windows xp home edition put on it, and i still have the certificate of authenticity that has my product key on it.I never got the windows cd with the computer so i downloaded a copy off the net and installed it, Its Windows XP Home Edition SP2.When i put in my product key now it says its invalid, is that because its SP2 instead of plain Home Edition? If so, is there a way to uninstall sp2 and sp1 so its just plain home edition so i can register it?and if not, is it even possible to get it registered with my old key if i contact microsoft? For free proffered, dont really feel like paying for the same thing twice.

Whenever I attempt to reinstall Windows I receive a stop error warning about a possible virus to instructing me to remove any newly installed hard drives
and/ or controllers. I elliminated hard drives disk by disk but was met with the same results. I then elliminated all HDs and my SCSI controller, booting from my XP CDROM.
Trying to reinstall windows with no luck! Boot from cd, get to "enter to install windows" screen and as soon as you press enter the message "inspecting drive etc etc" at the bottom flashes, then it bsods with the stop 0x0000008e error.now please, no cries of "oh thats a well known bug! check your ram!" i am aware

View 2 Replies View RelatedI cleaned the whole computer with malware bytes, spybot S&D and have spyblaster, ie-spyad and scriptdefender, also norton antivirus. Cleans some stuff like myway mywebsearch and Hotbar no problem computer is clean. The problem is a stop error that stops it for shutting down.You can start it up fine and do what ever you want to do. But when you got to shut it down from start> shutdown>shutdown it pops up the BSOD with stop error. Haven't put in any new hardware or software, everytning is up to date. I unchecked the box for the auto restart made no difference.

What I want to know is when I re install my operating disc on the new hard drive and enter the Key code will it ask for the activation code? I don`t know it!! View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to repair my desktop Windows XP Home installation.I have the original restore cds, but did not want to do a clean sweep, so I got hold of an XP Home cd, did all the repairing and copying of files, entered the key on the COA attached to my desktop, and all the process was fine. At the end, it asked me to activate the copy of windows, which I accepted because my key on the COA is all "clean". However, the process does not go anywhere, it only takes me to the desktop, which is blank and has nothing, not even the taskbar visible. The computer freezes.I have repaired other desktops and laptops I have at home before, and the process worked no problem, so I don't know what i did wrong this time.
Before I did the repairing on this desktop, I had disabled my ethernet adapter because I was connecting to the internet via wireless. So I'm thinking the problem is that the wireless card drivers got deleted, and the system cannot enable the ethernet adapter to connect to the internet to activate windows. First question is: Is this the case? Please help.I am not sure if the XP cd I got is an OEM version, or full retail. Second question: Could this be the problem? Finally, I was thinking of connecting an older hard disk that has a working copy of windows on it to my desktop (instead of the one I "repaired"), boot from it, and then activate the ethernet adapter, so I can then plug the original hard disk and hope the activation process to work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have installed Windows XP Home on a PC I built.I can install windows just fine, However when i get the 2nd restart it stops on the windows loading screen, the one that has a little blue scrolling bar across the bottom. I ty resetting and it still stops there. I also tried reinstalling windows and it happens each and every time there. What is causing this? I tried two different video cards and nothing, and different Ram. Is it a bad motherboard? Bad Processor, it shouldn't be considering I can get windows to install up to that point.

When I try to start in normal mode, it goes to the windows xp loading screen with the green loading bar and then goes blank, with my moniter blinking on and off. a checkdisk in safe mode returns no errors. the only things plugged into the motherboard are my cd drive and a video card.

The STOP message/blue screen appeared after XP loaded all the drivers. It is a clean installation on 2 new HDDs, so I assume the error is not caused by viruses. Yes, I did upgraded my BIOS to the latest version beforehand. The SATA data cables are new that came with the motherboard. Yes, I have also read and printed out MS KB324103, but I am still not sure what the problem(s) is/are Does XP Home Edition support RAID1 configuration? I read from Western Digital knowledge base answer ID 282 that "Windows XP Home Edition does not support dynamic disks." Is it true? Does it mean that I will have to buy XP Professional for RAID1 (mirrored)? Should I take out the video card and modem card before installing XP?

The next screen asks to click on the user entered os the registered user on the prior screen and then asks for a password. Out of habit I tried my old password. I then tried no password and again with a space as the password. I tried a few others also to no avail. Again, as per microsoft support kb 831430 Method 1 tried Run/msconfig/regsvr32 jscript.dll, etc doesn't work. Registering fails. Error 0x800004005. Even booted in safe mode so I could be THE administrator (as opposed to the computer administrator my user profile is already) and I got the same message. Tried the second way to register this with msconfig and expanding a file. I had tried this second part of Method 1 before and I think it might have worked, but when it came to registering the dll's, same error 0x800004005. So that failed.
