Getting Virus Named As "Surfsidekick 3" / Unable To Delete ?
Jun 29, 2006
I'm having some serious problems with malware and something called Surfsidekick 3.It won't let me remove it with Ewido or hijackthis or spybot or anything, I don't know what to do. I tried removing it manually and I get a message saying it's in use. The computer is locking up and I dunno what to do.
this virus named hboth07 cannot delete has tried several programs but because he never backed up his hard disk cannot afford to lose all data after all this time. i cannot find anything on this name
there is an icon on my desktop called "crack22a", and when i try to delete it a message comes up saying "it is being used by another person or program. close any programs that might be using it and try again". i dont know what program is using it. i scanned it with antivir, so its not a virus. if i double click on it, an error message comes up saying ".../crack22a.exe is not a valid win32 application". i think i was downloading it, and firefox crashed. so it never downloaded all of it.
I have attached my log from AdAware showing the files that I can't delete. Also, here is my HiJack Log. Computer is acting weird, the taskbar will not hold it's settings (keeps turning off the quick launch) and occasionally the screen will just show the background, not files and I have to restart the computer.
i have an external/portable hard disk. i connect it to my laptop by usb.everything used to be okay, i mean with all the contents inside it. but now recently i have this problem with this particular folder. all folders could be clicked, highlighted, right clicked, accessed; but this one folder, whenever i attempt to highlight it/select it, or when i single/double or right click it, the window would just freeze.
I downloaded a virus when I downloaded skype off of a third party website. Now I've got an .exe named skypeout on my desktop that doesn't want to move. Windows XP won't let me delete it because it is in use by another program. I could manually delete it off of my hard drive? I can't move it anywhere or delete it, it is alo probably logging keys too.
is it safe to delete my older profile named Administrator from System Properties Advanced tab>under User Profiles>Settings? as i already have a new administrator account. it all happened when my Pc crashed & i had to create a new administrator account.also i booted it twice so it created two additional folders-Administrator.username & Administrator . Also it gives me an option to delete the old Administrator from above path.
Tried to open Control Panel to uninstall and start using Office XP Small Business -- message: "error occurred while windows was working with...CoPM.cpl in System 32." Microsoft tech suport referred me to start/run appwiz, and remove Visual IP InSight -- but that file wasn't on the list of programs. I removed an un-named installer from the top of the list, thinking that was the culprit.Since then, Windows Installer dialog box pops up whenever I open Explorer or any other program. Microsoft tech support referred me to Article 261594 (Modify the Registry). Can now load Ofice 2000 without the installer popping up.
Well I downloaded a program and my Bitdefender picked it up as a virus I knew it wasn't because my friend had downloaded it from the same place and it worked. So I closed Bitdefender and unzipped it again used the program and when I turned my Pc on the next day Bitdefender came back on and saw the 'Viruses' So I'm now stuck with 5 files on my Desktop that I cannot delete (two files are from the program and .exe and a .dll) the other one file is a text document which I was scripting for a game I am making and when I went to save it Bitdefender said it was a highly dangerous virus.
A new virus i can't get rid of it off my computer i run blue yonder pc guard and although it says delete and it will go after reboot it still keeps popping up.
I ran a scan on my PC using TREND MICRO housecall 6.5 and it found a virus that it can't delete. Here's what it found: TROJ_BRDUPDATE.D E6F1873B.DLL found in C:windowssystem32e6f1873B.dll How do i remove this from my PC?
After running Antivirus, I found I have a Trojan Horse virus. It cannot be deleted, quarantined, or cleaned. All attempts failed. I then put computer in safe mode and ran Norton, but virus didn't show. Cleaned out registry, still to no avail. What can I do to get rid of this virus?? Filename: oeiuxr.dll and it located in windowssystem32. Also had over 60 of the trojan.elitebar, but was able to clear all of them. This trojan horse is the only remaining. HELP!
Is it better to disinfect files that are infected by viruses,or to delete the infected files?I've set my virus program to automatically delete virus infected files.I don't know if that's the right thing to do.
My comp recently just caught an virus and I have tired many anti-virus programs to remove it and so far, no luck.Avast reported the file that is infected, but is unable to delete it. So I decided to check it myself, it's a file in my systems/drivers and when I tired to delete it. It saids the following "Cannot delete uwvwibuv: Cannot read from the source file or disk.". I have tired using "Unlock" to delete it, doesn't work.Note, this virus is also causing all my anti-virus programs not to connect online, so I cannot update them. I have tried using Malwarebytes-antiware, doesn't detect it. I can't use system restore because it's being blocked by group policy after "I caught the virus" (Worked before).I had tired running in safe mode, checking task for unknown programs, and I can't delete it.
Recently got a piece of spyware called SpySHeriff. The program installed on my PC claiming to be a spyware fix program (i did not allow the install) i could not remove the program for a while but after looking through help topics on the net i found a registry to delete and fix the problem. Another thing that happened was that my wallapaper changed to this message : SYSTEM STOPPED system has been stopped due to serius malfunction. Spyware activity has been detected. It is recommended you use a spyware removal tool to prevent data loss. Do not use the computer until all spyware has been removed.
I recently performed a system recovery after getting a rather nasty virus. Everything else seems fine apart from these multiple instances of my administrator folder:
I'd like to delete all these un-necessary folders but when I try it says they are necessary for windows to run properly.
a virus on their machine ,I don't know which or what, then tried to get rid of it by reloading windows. Because I teach office applications such as word, excel etc, they think I can fix it for them straight away. I have a little knowledge, they have none so to speak. Someone has pointed me to your site and so I thought I would give you guys a shot. What is happening. - The computer hard drive has got very little on it - but it is running very very slow. I know this is processor memory not storage memory that governs the speed, but I thought you needed to know that bit of info. The email doesn't appear to be working - it says the IMAP setting is wrong but I have checked the email account properties and they all look ok to me. It will log onto the internet - eventually - but is exceptionally slow and will not open any pages - although the browser window opens it keeps saying 'page cannot be displayed'. I have run adaware - but there wasn't much on it - although it did say that it could not delete 'deskadserve'.....
I have problems with many virus, it has killed my computer. I have tried everything ,but cannot get rid of them. I have an anti-virus program but it will not get rid of them.
Unable to Delete AVI Fix. Delete the value you find there. This is due to XP (explorer in particular) trying to create a previewfor it. Now because the file is corrupted or incomplete,it cannot read it properly, hence, it will not release the file. This prevents explorer from doing this.As usual, backup the registry key before deleting it.
I am having sony vaio vgn-fe8555e which is having default vista but i have degraded to xp sp2 and worked well for sometimes but recently my laptop got attacked by virus..i tried to clean but cudnt do and i decided to format and install the OS but unable to format and even boot and load windows(PC will get restart if i go for windows) and unable to read XP CD for installation
Recently my Dell Dimension 4600 became badly infected. Malwarebytes antimalware and Spybot Search and Destroy now declare my PC virus free, but I have one artifact of the infection. Control panel as well as my software no longer sees my HP8450 printer. This problem first appeared when I was infected, this did not occur during or after cleaning. HP's online troubleshooter does not solve the problem. Further, I am unable to reinstall the printer; I have the original install CD and when prompted, Windows install wizard doesn't recognize the files on the CD. Trying a version of the software downloaded from HP's website, the install sees the device but cannot complete the install. I can't uninstall the printer because Control Panel doesn't recognize it as being installed. The printer is connected via USB cable and all of my other USB devices (mouse, keyboard, external hard drive) all work as they should. The printer was fully operational before the virus infections (Virtumonde.prx and Win32.TDSS.rtk).
I really need your help to fix my computer. I have my company laptop with me, it's Dell Latitude D820 with Windows XP Pro installed on it. Recently my computer got some worm, but i ignored it, because i didn't think it was really a thread, however it actually opened the backdoor and downloaded some trojan (low risk - i don't remember the name of the virus), i noticed it when i connected my computer yesterday morning and the virus has been deleted by symantec anti virus. However i need to edit some registry on my computer, so i did that, i changed some of them, by the end of the day there was no problem at all
My computer has been messing up alot lately and i've ignored it because I was getting a new computer and at the worse, I could get someone at any point to look at it at their leasure to fix it up.But that was suppose to be 2 months ago and my computer does not let me get to a safemode/command prompt or the desktop to let me use start/run and the such. I put in the CD and i get a hal.dll error that its missing or corrupt and so far, each way that I can fix that requires me to go to desktop and do so. I want to reformat my computer so that it will run at the very least until I get a new computer. Also, when I say 'unable to get to desktop' i mean it shows just the wallpaper and doesn't let me even go to task manager.Does anyone have any solutions? I need a computer for school so that when i want to work late nights on a project or something, i can instead of getting off my parents' at 9pm and being screwed.
I am trying to boot into safe mode in Windows XP (office) to deal with trojan horses (Vundo.gen.w/spy-agent.bw.gen.e) infections. I am able to get to the safe mode option screen via "f8", but it will only load some drivers and then it returns to the safe mode option screen (endless loop). Further I cannot access the system config utility via "run". I open up the run dialog box and type "msconfig" nothing happens. An ideas? What would happen if I run a full virus scan (with system restore off) without being in safe mode?
I have Windows XP Home and we currently have 5 user accounts all with administrator capabilites. The problem is, my daughter wants to delete her user account and has not been successful in doing so. Everytime we go into "control panel/user accounts and click on her name and then select "Delete account", it just sits there with the hourglass and then when I try to get out of it it says that the "program is not responding". We have done this numerous times with no success. I even tried deleting her account from safemode today and that didn't work either. There is something definitely messed up on her user name because I tried signing on under her name and couldn't do anything, it froze up on me and I had to restart. Our computer has been scanned for viruses (none) and adware/malware have all been removed using ad-aware/spybot search & Destroy.
I have this new computer and it has been doing ok, until Saturday. It is a compaq 3400+amd 512mb,200gb.I use sypgate as my firewall, avast antivirus, ad-aware,ccleaner,sypywareblaster. I use IE and Hotmail as my only email. When I read the mail and delete it it does not delete. Did an ewido scan and it only showed some cookies!
They all look like this: $ntuninstallkb929399$ They are in the Windows directory, at the beginning. This is Win/xp sp2. I think they are some sort of uninstall file for MS fixes. But I don't honestly know. I have several pages of these files. Does anyone know what they are?? Can I safely delete these files????
