I just finished putting together my new computer and I'm excited to test it out on a new game. All i have right now is WarCraft III and UT2004.I want another first person shooter, as ut2004 isn't pushing my computer at all. I was thinking maybe doom3, quake4, or half-life 2, but I dont know which one has the best graphics. I'm pretty easy to please game-play wise, so I'm really primarily concerned about the eye candy
My computer (crashing and rebooting during gameplay) I'm wondering if it could be the card driver maybe not compatible with something? I have a Radeon 9550 graphics card and a ECS661fx-m motherboard my radeon driver is the catalyst 5.8 a long shot I know as all the driver's iv'e had installed made no differance. I tried the driver verifier and that just left a mess, as soon as I started it the comp went into reboot opened the desktop and then went into reboot over and over again(that was in safe mode) the only way to stop it was to wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows xp I got so fed up with it that i'm waitng for my new motherboard a Abit a-17 guru 865pe in the hopes that might work if not its a new graphics card and it wont be a Radeon.
I am looking to purchase a new graphics card. I am looking more for a gaming card. My computer has the following properties: 3.0GHz P4 2.0 Gigs Crucial Ram (DDR PC3200, CL=3, UNBUFFERED, NON- ECC, DDR400, 2.6V, 128Meg x 64)MSI MS-6788 (865PE NEO2-V) Window XP Pro
Re-installing a game, Enigma: Rising Tide I receive this error message. This happened one time before. I don't recall how I was able to overcome, but presently I had to re-install the game and now I have this error message again. I understand that there have been other instances with others installing games where this message appears.
Computer has suddenly gotten real slow shutting down and upon start up. I can not readily see any changes. Ran Adaware and Spybot before running HiJack This. All were good. Need some new eyes on this one...Only changes to computer recently were the addition of the new BattleField 2 demo, which really seemed to slow the system down.
At around 2005-08-06-13.30, after installing an MS Game & trying to register it with my Passport/Hotmail login I got repeated rejection on my account. The login software was giving me an old account name @hotmail.com that I closed a few years ago and would not accept the one that has been active since. I discontinued the current account which it surprisingly allowed me to do. It would not allow me to discontinue old account name @hotmail.com even though it kept replacing current account name with old whenever I entered password.
I just installed Gangsters, a game I bought today, and when I tryied to play it right after installing it,it gave me this message:"Sorry Unable to initialize CD Player. Please make sure that no other application is accessing the CD."What does this mean?
I went to play Half-Life 2 last night, just as I do any other time. It informed me that there was an upgrade for my ATI Radeon 9550 video card and wouldn't let me proceed without it. Really wanting to play, I went and installed the update. After rebooting after the update, I noticed something. Some applications (i.e. Skype, MSN, etc.) weren't working properly. Then, I started getting random shutdowns.
I was able to boot into Safe Mode and do a System Restore back to before I installed the new driver. This did not solve the problem. So I called ATI, and they instructed me to uninstall the ATI Drivers and reinstall it without Catalyst. So I did, and it worked... For about an hour. My computer then rebooted and now refuses to boot, safe mode, debug mode, normal or otherwise.
I was recently trying to install Medieval Total War II onto my computer. I've had it installed before in the past, and it worked fine on my computer. I wanted to play it again, so when I went to install it it gave me the blue screen. It said:Quote: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREAIt then said something about disabling BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing, etc. Then it had what I'm guessing is the error code:***STOP: 0x00000050 (0x46263D6, 0x00000000, 0x804ED967, 0x00000001)
I am in the process of installing drivers onto my computer. I just reinstalled XP Home Edition on my Dell Inspiron e1505/6400. So far I have installed the following drivers: and (I think) Modem...I'm not sure if the last one worked or not.Now I'm trying to install the video driver and it won't work, This is the error window that pops up.One or more files required for installation are either missing or corrupt.Setup will exit.
How much space should I plan to partition for a new install of Windows XP pro? My current setup has 3 partitions on an 80GB drive. My system drive is about 5GB and I keep getting the low disk space message. Is 10GB enough or too much? I install all of my software and documents to another partition.
I need to find the product key for my Win98 that was originally installed on my system. It nows has the Win XP upgrade installed, several years ago. I can get the product key for the winXP no problem but cant get the 98!I did use the Belarc advisor but it only shows the XP stuff!
Can I safely install directx 10 or 11 on my system? Where do I find the downloadable executable install file? Will upgrading the DirectX in my system cause any problems with any current programs I'm running on my system (mostly MS office, a Couple of MMO's and a stand alone game or two)?
Whenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8 graphics card, 256MB ddr ram (recently brought new 1GB ddr ram off ebay just for rezidue! should be here soon!) TP-LINK 54mbps wireless network card) And last but not least
my graphics card is old and slow and i was lookin to but a new one What would u reccomend in the 100$ price range that is fast I have a 2002 windows xp P4 processor 1.50 Ghz and 256 MB of ram, 40.0 Gb, Nvidia TnT2 graphics card
I've been racking my brain on this issue for months with no success. So I have a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ processor running on a Gigabyte mobo (I can get the model no. if needed) and a BFG GeForce 5500 AGP card. I have 2 Crucial DDR-333 512M sticks and a WD 80GB SATA drive. Now when I run Windows and basic apps(IE, Outlook, Firefox, etc) But when I run a few games like World of Warcraft, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, etc. Occasionally it will just hang the PC. No error, just looping sound and freeze frame.
I install Server 2003 Standard SP1 downloaded and installed on a PII 400, 256Mb RAM with IIS, ASP.Net 2.0, SQL server 2000 SP4, Mysql 5, and PHP5, and all without a single hitch...too good to be true. I went ahead and tried on what will be my server PIII600, 512 MB RAM, First try, Server 2003 couldn't find a file when installing, retried and it worked. Downloaded SP1 and when I was extracting it said "file is corrupt", downloaded 4 more times with same result. reformatted and reinstalled 5 more times and cannot get past "file is corrupt" on SP1 and sometimes extracting the .Net 2.0 installer got the same error. I swap all hardware with PC from first try (except RAM, Mobo, CPU, CDROM) with no change. Win98 and XP installed fine on the second PC just can't get server 2003
I was playing America's Army and on this computer it is is kind of laggy and just doesn't run smoothly even with all the settings on minimum. Im using a RADEON 9200, Do you think more RAM could fix this problem? Is my computer able to have anymore RAM?
Look at this log and see if they can find any reason why i have one program Delta Force Blackhawk Down online game will not play any more worked fine till 2 days ago than just wont boot up every thing else on comp works well i have un installled it and reinstalled it and same thing.
My computer often hangs whenever I play games. After it hangs for 3 times, my monitor will go black and the yellow light will bleep and it will restart by itself. This annoys me very much as I play games a lot.I've checked for viruses,trojan,ad-aware,spyware etc. I used Ad-aware,SpyBot,PC Doctor and all of it says I'm clean.
I've only had this problem for a while, i have windows xp and this hasen't happened to be before until yesterday. whenever i start up one of my big games(ie a more newer more demanding games) the screen pops up and my computer resets, i dont know what i could of don't to cause this nor what exactly whats going on the screen has a error that says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL at first i thought my graphics drivers were buggered. so i went off and downloaded newer ones and put them on, but it didn't seem to do much.
i dont really have problems with the games im useing its the way my pc is running, i uasuly play bf2, it uasuly loads a level in around 20 seconds but now it will take anything up to 2 minutes! i have 1gb of ram and seems like its running on 512mb!, ive checked my cpu and it looks fine i also tryed reinstalling the game but that didnt help either
I recently installed xp for the first time after replacing motherboard and CPU.I skipped setup because I didn't know what I was doing. Now I can't boot up (cold or warm) without using the original disk. Can I just go into setup and change boot settings without re-installing.Is there anything else I should know before I attempt to fix this problem? I am tired of using the disk every time I update something or install new program.
I've had this problem for a couple of days. Every time I start a game like portal or team fortress 2 svchost.exe starts eating cpu. This goes on for a couple of minutes and suddenly svchost goes back to normal cpu usage.
I have 7 different svchost.exe processes in my task manager, 3 system, 2 local service and 2 network service.
I've downloaded process explorer and the svchost that takes all the cpu has the PID 1412, dunno if that info makes any difference but sounds important.
I've searched for svchost.exe to see if there are any more that could be possible viruses but i only found the one in /windows/system32/ I have no idea what could be causing this problem... Also, I apologize if there already is a solution for this in another topic. Didn't find any when I searched.
I downloaded some computer game files and now I am sorry and want to delete them but can't find the files that support them. The shortcut icons appear only on the fifth line of the Mozilla and I.E. browzer home pages. The address line shows the files at http://retrogamer.iwon.com/home.jhtml?tbdd=9197. The files do not appear under C: anywhere and the search function and Control Panel add/remove can't locate them either.
